I use a lot of gear I already had for use with larger bikes.
What do you use, and what type: Helmet - of course, but what type? Eye? Jacket? Gloves? Boots, or shoes? Anything else?

ATGATT!
Helmet--modular Nolan for ease of on/off with glasses Eyes--see above Jacket--Cortech armored mesh jacket. Pink of course. See my avatar Gloves--forget the brand, but also armored mesh with a knuckle guard Boots--good sturdy leather with non-slip soles that lace up over my ankles Anything else--Cortech armored mesh pants. Silver ('cause it was that or black. No pink, sigh) --dickey around my neck for when it's cold; likewise Isotoner gloves inside my riding gloves, for ditto
I also have a bright red fabric armored jacket, and the prettiest white leather armored jacket. And matching white leather armored gloves. Haven't gotten to wear any of them though. Darn weather!

Modular Yellow helmet (lighter colors for desert heat) White plastic armored jacket White plastic armored knee/shin guard White armored gloves Heavy boots. (Overall to combat the desert heat I end up looking like a imperial storm trooper on a scoot.)

Modular Full Face Helmet with built in Sun Shield, Silver Ignitor Xelement Ce3 Armored Jacket with Double Back Protection, Sidici Perforated Leather Gloves with Carbon Fiber Armor, Over the Ankle Lace Up Leather Riding Boots with Kevlar Ce3 Armored Jeans in the plans.
I ride a 250 capable of speeds approching 100 mph and spend a lot of time on the interstate so I try not to fool around.
Once you see a buddy survive a 70 mph off with no real injuries because he was geared up except a little heat rash where his kevlar got hot from sliding its hard to argue the point. He had been clipped by a car squeezing by to pass who bumped the back of his new RSV4 Aprilia and knocked him off the bike totalling the bike. Thankfully no one drove over him and he slid to a stop from 70 or so mph.
It is hot here in Tropicat Sunny Florida but never too hot to wear your gear. The right gear actually protects you from the heat. Add proper base layer garments like Heat Out or Sidici Close and it just gets better.

I'm practically a squid... I wear a full face helmet, leather gloves, always a long sleeve shirt and usually a jacket (not armored) and steel toed reboks. I really need to get an armored jacket, armored gloves and a new helmet. Oh yea, I desperatly need to get some boots as every bike I seem to get is way heavier then the last.

It is really nice to see most members use the proper gear on their scoots. Most accidents happen near home, within 10 minutes of leaving the house. It hurts just as bad to go flying at 35mph from a scooter as from a larger bike if you have the bad luck to crash.
LeatherUp.com has some nice jackets for a good price. I like my heavy armored Exelement jacket, but for hot weather I have a armored Vega jacket made of heavy ballistic nylon mesh and Kevlar. It lets the air through, but holds the armor in place. Nice jacket. I also have a full on thick leather jacket with built in armor for very cold weather - pants to match, but have only had to wear leather pants a few times in San Diego. They are left overs from my years in Texas and Oregon.
I always use a full face helmet. I worked in an ER. I saw a lot of ground off chins from partial protection helmets.
3 sets of gloves. Two nylon and armor (one hot weather mesh) one very nice pair of full leather gauntlets with plastic armor over the joints.
The only place I lame out is ankle protection. I wear heavy hiking shoes, but they do not cover my ankles, Too hot in San Diego for boots most of the time.
