i was looking to get a 150cc for commute to new job it will be a further commute than what i had around 45 miles round trip i figured it would be a little more comfortable than the scooter i have now and majority of the roads are 45 -50 mph didn't want to drive the one i have that distance it would be wot almost the whole way i wanted to know what you guys were getting for gas mileage and top speed on the 150s

I get about 65 mpg on a 2008 Longbo 150cc. Top speed is 58 mph, so it's just fine on most roads in my area. I don't know about the "comfort" concerns though, as my undercarriage goes numb on any ride longer than ten miles or so. (Maybe with a gel cushion or some memory foam, it could be more comfortable.)

I had a Znen ZN 150T before I went to 250s. It was good for steady 45-50 mph and about 80mpg. Top of near 60. It was a touring style with a good windshield. I went to a 250 so I could get on freeways if necessary. Some places we go there is no other way to get there except freeways. Sky

Yes, a 150cc should do you just fine for speeds 45-50, some 150s will do a little better than 50mph. You can also put some minor mods to get a little more top end on them without draining your wallet. Alleyoop

My Echarm which has EFI and LC engine gets 80 MPH and tops at 75 MPH . I got a ticket for going 72 MPH

On a 150 you could be talking 2 oil changes per month and possibly monthly valve adjustments commuting 45 miles per day depending on how you use the bike after work and on weekends. At WOT which you would be at most of the time on a 50 mph road with most traffic going over the more common 52/53 mph top speed of a 150 you could end up getting only 45 mpg. That is why I switched to a 250. No longer at WOT on a 50 mph road and keeping up with traffic more realisticly going 55/60 I get 75/80 mpg. Valve adjustments are every year or so and oil changes are less frequent too. Either bike requires insurance, registration and a motorcycle license so there is no difference there.

I would expect any 125-150 class scooter can top 55+ mph; will not be WOT at 45-50. Whatever. My Vespa:
On 8 June 2013, over the Grapevine riding WOT on Interstate 5, I only got 61 mpg. Since I was expecting 65+ mpg I ran out of gas about 3 miles short of my planned gas stop. 16-20 September 2013 on a trip to the Sierras, again over the Grapevine, I got 65 mpg by holding a hair under WOT. The rest of the trip I averaged about 75 mpg, mostly holding to 60 mph instead my 65 mph top. Same 65-80 mpg on a Full Moon Ride in 22-23 June.
Overall, in 7K+ miles in 14 months, I have averaged over 67mpg, with about 25% of the miles being on the freeways. In my humble opinion, a 150cc class scooter will work just fine -- anywhere.

FYI, my ex-, a 380 pound +mph Suzuki 652cc Savage, a cruiser motorcycle, gave me 50 mpg having too much fun on the city, 60-65 mpg doing 65-70 mph on the Interstate, 70+ mpg across the Mojave at 50-55 mph. If you consider becoming a Rocker instead of a Mod.

I agree with getting a 250 (or larger) Just much less strain on the scoot for a daily 50 mile drive WOT will eventually take it's toll on any scoot

You can't reasonably expect to match the performance of the higher compression more finely machined Vespa/Piaggio engined bike with the avereage low compression GY6. Many GY6 150cc scooters will be at WOT or pretty close to it a 50 mph. On a 50 MPH road where traffic is generally flowing at 55 to 60 you are usually running lean and hot on a stock GY6.
