I took out the high performance motor I built, and put the original back in.I need to do some more work on it before i'm happy. Overheated the cylinder yesterday. No dmage though I took the head off to check. The original motor runs like a champ! 37-40 mph no problem smooth and quiet too. Just sucks on hills and against the wind. While I play with the build, I want to be able to ride. So out it came for now. Hey Jack just had a though, when you got your new engine did you take the cvt cover off and clean the oil and grease or whatever that stuff is they use to protect the components from rust.. Did you clean it off ? Mine was covered with that stuff, but since i used the clutch from Fawkes old engine, I had no need to clean it I just took it out and put Fawke's in, but the one that I took out, the inside of the clutch bell, the clutch shoes, springs all that were just coated with that grease like stuff.

I decided to bleed and replace the brake fluid today,,it took quite a bit of pumping to build up pressure and get all the air out after I drained it...I used 100% synthetic Valvoline good for dot 4 or 5 systems,,the lever seems alot harder,,and brakes work much better,,also took the flywheel off to make sure all the case bolts where snugged up,,saw a little oil on the bottom of my fan cover, they needed a little crack....thats it for today

Took apart my other carb on my last engine, and I'm embarrassed to even post what I found..... probably why that crank went out.

Took apart my other carb on my last engine, and I'm embarrassed to even post what I found..... probably why that crank went out. What was it? Tuesday I bled the rear brake on the Znen after I forked it up myself on Monday. Today for the Xingyue, I got the new pressure regulator, installed, checked and verified the fuel pressure, removed the Tee, ran a 10 minute pass to log data for Ecotrons. Took it for a short ride.

^ I was running a 120 main jet and didn't know it. That carb came with the engine. Not sure how the scooter even ran, or how i didn't even smell gas really. Learned my lesson there-- i had that carb on for over approx 7-8,000 miles, not sure. Thats the engine I haven't pulled the head off yet, because I knew the crank was shot-- I should pull it off tonight and post a pic, I'm bored.

Nice job on that seat!
Saturday: I pulled apart the variator on the Xingyue and discovered it uses 20x15 instead of 18x14 rollers/sliders. Popped the clutch off and decided that it looks good, plenty of material left and no grooves, and no play. Stuck it all back together
Sunday I remounted the combination rectifier mount and tire-hugger fender support. The other day I found the fender had come loose and cracked the aluminum plate at the top and beside the lower front bolt. Reshaped a bit, new holes, a couple steel straps for backup.

Put a brand new front brake caliper on with new pads--- love it. Changed the oil last week, put a new spark plug boot on---it was junk. I ordered the "V" sliders/guides for the variator---saw a crack in one of them, and ordered 2 sets to have a backup. Probably will order a new belt soon. It's been an interesting last few months. Crank/Top end rebuild, New front handlebar panel--not cheap unless you want BLACK, New rollers, new front brake caliper, changed the oil a few times, I have the "V" sliders/guides, as said above, one the way. Hmmmm what else. Brake fluid was changed and bled---had to bleed it again tonight/yesterday after changing the caliper. I will do that at least once a year from now on. Oh, I changed a lot of the electrical connection pieces to better, newer ones. My scoot is pretty happy right now, and I'm thankful for it. I've come a long way, and I credit these forums--- VERY thankful for the info online. Priceless.
