Ha.. good stuff here. Just took delivery of 2013 Bashan GS804 50cc. The wealth of knowledgeable like minded scootocologists here is inspiring. Just finished pdi.. changing oil again at around 100km. Looking forward to many more miles. Shout out to greenearth scooters!!

have had my chinese 150cc about a year and a half now. speedometer dead along with the odometer but been logging miles each day/week in a calendar: imagine i have a bit over 500 now. of course ride short distances around SF more during summer BUT it's been sunny for months now - NO snow here!! used it a lot during America's Cup - riding everyday anywhere from 8miles to 14miles and more since i would switch photo locations during the races to get different angles, plus get away from everyone else (HUGE crowds!!). i'd like to ride it more but the roads are so terrible that at even 30mph i feel like i'll bounce off. the steep hills o this City dont help at all too.

I posted in June at 8,500 and now I'm just shy of 11,000. In all candor those are china miles - my actual mileage is 87% of odo, meaning that I'm actually at 9,440 now.

I have just over 7k on my 150. Under 2k on the 250..
Change the oil on the 150 every 500 miles and valve adjustments as needed. The 150 has always been garaged, the 250 has been, since I acquired it in November, before that it had seen a pretty hard life.
I don't putt around on them, I scrag 'em... I ride WOT, a lot but I so maintain them and probably more then most.
Mods on the 150 include 115mm variator and 12 gram rollers. Stock other then that. I've put new valve stems in, new rear tire, new gates belt about 1k ago (second one) and added a windscreen and battery tender. I replaced the exhaust (stock unit broke a weld) upgraded the mirrors and a new fuel pump. Upgraded trunk.
Mods on the 250, added a volt meter, Led running lights, LED dash lights... Engine is stock. rebuilt and re-jetted the carb, replaced the vacuum petcock, all new switches in the dash, replaced the stereo, changed the ignition, paint, two new stereos.... (UE Boom clamped to the grab bars and a new amp with the old speakers in the bike)... Upgraded mirrors, "fiber carbon" covered dash. The 250 gets killer gas milage.... better then the 150 (don't need to run it as hard)

Just hit 1,000 miles on the new Scrappy engine. Changed over to mobil one syn, changed the belt, and gear oil to syn. So far, engine is running strong, never goes over 6,000 rpm. Hoping to get over 15,000 miles.

I have a bit over 10,000 miles on mine. Seems the more I read around; the better it runs. Kinda scary.... I seriously appreciate the knowledge-base kicked around up in here. Thanks

Just wanted to start a thread on how you ride(WOT, cruise mellow),what ya all have done to your china scoot and how many miles are on it,,I know these things get a bad rap,,but with some upgrades and good maintenance I do believe they can be pretty reliable. I just bought a tao tao atm 150 evo,,the tires are all out of round, alot of the hardware was just slammed in with an impact stripping threads, loose and missing hardware,Im gonna see how long it will last me if i take care of it,,maybe set a new mile/km record if there is one for a china gy6...lol..so far 125Km and its only getting smoother.I plan on running Rotella full synthetic after another 500 mile oil change,,then I will go 1000 miles between changes. As of now I have upgraded all my lines, removed the evap relocated tank vent, changed plug to NGK,changed oil to shell rotella 15/40,gear lube to synthetic ,and tightened everything up with upgraded hardware.Next week plan on doing the CDI and belt. Good Times.... Tom If a product needs a lot of maintenance or upgrades then it's not a good product.

In my experience; even a high-end product without mantainence is a piece of crap. I have seen many purchase an exspensive item and cannot afford the upkeep. It ends up in the garbage heap just the same.

My speedometer lies. I use my old GPS to give me an accurate speed. My speedometer is racking up 1.4 miles for every mile driven. The speedometer believes the scoot has 4600 China miles on my current 2008 Tank 150cc.
I try to not to go WOT unless necessary. I am not planning a rebuild soon, and would not like to be forced into one. I am more of a putt around guy, than a speed about guy. No problems on the 6 year old scoot until this year. I had some things to clean up during the Spring service, but after 6 years, the Tank is doing fine for something I bought new, from a dealer, for $1400 in 2008.

I just hit 1,500 after about 6 months. I mostly ride to work and run errands on it. I have plans to do some scamping this spring, so I expect my next 6 months will be over 2,000 miles added to it. I have a 50mm bbk, Koso variator and sliders, advancing angle CDI, performance coil/wire, and iridium spark plug. With those upgrades, I'm rarely at WOT even when accelerating, and can cruise at 45 with the RPMs just above 7k. Only issue I've had is high compression causing my crank seal to leak, easy fix once diagnosed. I think the necessity to ride smaller scooters at WOT most of the time is what kills them, and I'm hoping my upgrades will keep the strain down enough to give me many more miles and smiles!

A little over 14,000 on my 2004 Diamo 150cc Retro. The drive belt was changed once as were the tires, (switched to on/off road tires), rear brakes, shocks and battery. Other than that just regular maintenance. Still runs like a dream.
