Just wanted to start a thread on how you ride(WOT, cruise mellow),what ya all have done to your china scoot and how many miles are on it,,I know these things get a bad rap,,but with some upgrades and good maintenance I do believe they can be pretty reliable. I just bought a tao tao atm 150 evo,,the tires are all out of round, alot of the hardware was just slammed in with an impact stripping threads, loose and missing hardware,Im gonna see how long it will last me if i take care of it,,maybe set a new mile/km record if there is one for a china gy6...lol..so far 125Km and its only getting smoother.I plan on running Rotella full synthetic after another 500 mile oil change,,then I will go 1000 miles between changes. As of now I have upgraded all my lines, removed the evap relocated tank vent, changed plug to NGK,changed oil to shell rotella 15/40,gear lube to synthetic ,and tightened everything up with upgraded hardware.Next week plan on doing the CDI and belt. Good Times.... Tom

16000 miles on my2006 BAJA SC50, All stock and original. It's retired now and I have a new 2012 jonway YY50QT30. I ordered a gy6/!00cc complete engine, 23mm carb and iridium plug from scrappydog ,and bought a set of Michelin city grip tires. The only reason I retired the baja, was that they discontinued all the parts for the thing.

Just make sure you tighten the exhaust bolts. It works with a vinyl locking nut. On my 250cc, the vinyl would melt. On these ones atm they don't. I have ~800km on mine, don't ride it a lot, I want to save it when I can.
I suppose you'd have to specify in the title that it's for a 150cc. 250cc's usually run farther and longer than eg: 50cc's. Like some people have recorded almost 48k Miles on their 250's. And I've seen many with 13+k miles on their TaoTao ATM50's. I myself am only at just under 3000 miles with only the blinkers as problems.
Too bad your EVO wasn't done well. Mine was done very well, save for front tire bounce which reduced after a good 150 miles riding.

Ok,,good to hear so far,,if you have a 250 that's fine,,I would like to hear about any Chinese scoot.
Thanks for the tip,,but I think the gy6 150 motor gets hotter than the water cooled 250 so the nylon lockers would melt also wont they?
16k,, that's really good,,Id be happy to see over 10k,there is a video of a guy on youtube that has over 25k on a Chinese 150,,let me see if I can find it. Tom
Here it is...

I think, but am not sure, that I put vinyl locking nuts on my EVO 150's exhaust too. It's ok for normal riding, but only when going on highways I might fear they melt. My 250 basically melted the vinyl locking screws at first startup, and it was watercooled.
Yeah, 13k sounds like the limit for a 50cc 25k miles sounds good for a 150cc and 35-40k miles for a 250.
I hope mine will last that long.

Yeah, I'm keeping the baja, I put a long case qmb139 in it and a 12" rear tire, did'nt care for that too much, so I replaced the front end with a 12". I bought it new in2006,and rode the heck out of it so I bought a new one. I hope it serves me as well as the baja did.

My odometer says 2358, I got the thing with something like 1421 on it (title says 1441, but I drove at least 20+ miles with my temporary plates).
That's over 900 miles in roughly five months (most of which it was too rainy or snowy outside to ride). Not to mention The Lost Miles when my speedo puck broke and I drove at least 50 miles without it.
So, by Thursday, when my bbk should come, I will have driven 1k china-miles ;D

:# the odo reading on the ATM50 is in km, not mi. So you've done ~9320 miles on it.

Wow,,these are some pretty impressive numbers,,one of the best parts about this hobby for me is working on my scoot,,and always trying to better it,,like a gentlemen said in another post,,scooters don't die,,they can all be resurrected as long as the frame is not bent in half.

I believe that quote can be attributed to Chris Mills, if I'm not mistaken.
