Went to Walmart was just running in for one thing when I came back out my helmet was gone I noticed 2 guys sitting in the truck beside me I asked them if they saw who got it and they told me some made up crap about someone came up and got it so I snatched the door open to ask them more about the person that got my helmet at the same time I was looking to see if I could see my helmet. I could not so I shut the door and walked around the corner that's when I heard a door close I walk back to my scooter and there sits my helmet. I flipped out I tried to knock the window out of there truck with my helmet that did not work so I knocked there mirror off they where in such a hurry to leave they ran a row of buggies down the side of there truck. I followed them home so now I know where they live. I thought it was pretty sad they could not even out run a scooter. Ya maybe I should not have acted that way but I hate a thief.

I also hate a thief but here in Florida that kind of reaction can get you shot. Be careful my friend.

Awesome story, with a good ending no less! If violence doesn't solve all your problems, you're not using enough. I'll have to remember this because I leave my helmet in the parking lot with my bike all the time. In the hundreds of times I've done so I have yet to encounter a thief, but at this point I'm just pushing my luck. Maybe I'll start storing my nunchaku in the trunk, never know when ya might need them.

I'm not sure why someone would want to steal another man's helmet... unless its new I don't think I want to put my head in it.

I've had the same non-dot half helmet for 20 some odd yr's. Never locked down. Always set it on seat with gloves under it. No one has ever bothered it. Dave

You can put a lock through the D rings along with a cable but the straps have been known to get cut by thieves and ( censored )s . With a large rear trunk you may be able to fit your helmet an other stuff like gloves and a jacket in it . My Coocase trunk is hardwired for the optional alarm kit www.coocase.com . I have carried my FF helmet and gloves with me as I do not trust anyone and I always Fort Knox my scooter with 4 locks , as locks are cheaper than a scooter and thieves want a quick and easy grab and go rather than have to use power tools as my locks are beyond bolt cutters . Many stores will put it behind the counter so you do not have to lug it in a store

I never could figure why people would just leave a helmet hanging unsecured from the handlebars and just walk away. I have a helmet carrying bag with shoulder straps, when I go into a store the helmet comes with me.

I'm with spandi, bought a helmet bag with straps and take it along with me.
skutta, when I first read your last sent I thought it meant your scooter. Yes, then I realised you meant your helmet and stuff. Funnier the first way though. ;D
I do have a tail bag, but all I leave in there is an old towel ('cause I'm a froopy dude).
Jeff, I have to agree with tarkus. I think if you did that here, you'd risk getting shot. And I have a feeling the shooters would be in the right, could claim you assaulted them first. It worked out for you this time, but just be real careful in the future. Too many nuts out there.

Back when i was 16, I had a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme broken into. Glove box contents scattered every where, even out side as they didn't even bother to close the passenger door, I never locked this car before and was very trusting of my fellow man, so this was a wake up call for me, anyway called police made out a report.. Didn't see anything missing at the time.
A little while later, I was driving to a friends house and looked where my rear view mirror used to be, and it was not there. Needless to say the lesson I learned is if it can be stolen it will be, unless you lock it up.. No exceptions, it's a shame as my parents always taught me if it's not yours leave it alone unless specifically told otherwise by the owner... To bad others don't care if it's theirs or not..

The thing that made me so mad was its an old helmet not worth much they just got it to be punks. They where just sitting there and I bet one was said I dare you to take his helmet. He want do anything he rides a scooter. That's what made me mad. And ya they could have shot me but don't think about that.

howdy, there is no such thing as getting even. it always escelates as the one getting even gets just a little more than even. thier getting even may get you killed and you would be dead right. i don't know the answer but when pushed in the corner i bite about like the mouse i was teasing when i was a kid. i still remember the bite it gave me and probably have the scar to prove it.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
