I have about 700 miles on the OEM belt! Has your belt gave you any warning before it broke?

Many times it will squeal if it slips is a sign its stretched and breakage will be soon . Mine came with a Gates so I was lucky . I replaced them with Bando brand of belt as I like them better since they are made in Japan rather than China and Honda uses them .
If it breaks it can jam up the rear wheel causing a skid and breaking other parts too

This is something I have been worrying about too. I've always read that the Chinese OEM belts suck. I'm just at 2600km on mine and I think it's still fine... but I don't know how I'd know if it was starting to go bad.

Belts get thinner and thinner, the rule is 10% missing it is done. 18mm x.1=1.8mm 18-1.8=16.2mm thickness reaches 16.2 it is service life done. Cheap belts have been known to cause excessive vibration. So this may induce a change. The rear slider on the clutch assembly need relube at 2000 mile increments. Nobody does it so you might want to inspect it as a priority at belt inspection time. If the slider is out of limits it takes the belt out fast. Replacing the belt at this point is useless as it will fry in no time. Belt Smoking Society!!!!!!

The warning I get normally is I notice my top end speed dropping a bit, either meaning a belt wearing down or my sliders needing replaced, ( Fawkes when he was a Stroker was pretty hard on belts ) Normally the speed difference is only 2 or 3 mph, so it's a very minor drop.
I also need to say this is with good quality belt, such as Gates or Bando, cheaper belts will give no warning at all....
