FYI- There are several different "gold" CDIs on the market. The only one recommended around here is the advancing angle CDI sold by tvnacman. I have to get one of those soon....even though my Progress Racing CDI is not causing starting issues,,would just like to try one..

Nice man!! I always put one circlip on before installing the piston to the rod,,its easier,, than all you have to worry about is one..lol I also like to put my piston partially into the cylinder first,,then slide the jug over the studs,,this way you only have to monkey with lining up the pin with the rod while its in the frame and not the rings. The gap positions aren't as critical as the end gap,,as long as they are not over top each other and close to that Y axis off set you are good to go.. You and me both on warmer weather,,cant wait to get out and break this BBK in properly.... Glad there is no smoke!! Tom

Started with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in November 1970. My one way commute was 18.3 miles from Torrance to Downtown L.A.. In 1Q71 I bought a house in Gardena (where I still live) -- 14.3 miles one way. About six years later I transferred to the Gardena C.O. -- 2.7 miles one way. In ' I pulled the switch from my Stepper switch, got into O.C.S. in '87, the barn in 139th street, 1.3 miles from home. That was sweet! Also leased. In '89 we moved to an owned complex, 3.6 miles to work, 3.7 miles back home. Until I retired, I was riding/driving less than 4K miles a year. Since I retired I am riding more, about 5.5K miles a year, mostly shopping. Retired I am cooking more, more fresh food, more picky about my food, riding more shopping for dinner. I hear ya!! I just turned 44 in sept,,I have been watching my diet also,,heart disease runs in my family,,been doing lots of juicing with organic fruit,,i do beets, carrots, celery, and apples..MMmmmmmm good stuff,,makes me feel like a million bucks, also alot of homemade probiotics now for the gut,,I need to try and live as long as possible,,I really beat up my body from 1985-2000,,drank enough to kill 12 sailor men,,being a product of the 80's didn't help,,lots of fun though,,but now its time to get healthy..I like to ride my MTB at least 40 miles a week in the warmer season,,that is very fun,,the scooter is top #1 though!!!! Take care my friend! Tom from Jersey..

I just wanted to hop aboard this thread cause I had about 1/8 left of throttle that didn't do too much,,that was before my BBK and I really haven't ridden much yet with the BBK to see if it got better...

I agree, it only takes a few minutes to properly gap them, so why not do it right. And yes, half way down the jug is a good position to check them at. I also agree that a ring clamp is the best way to get the piston into the jug without messing up the rings. That taper is really not enough to ensure the rings don't bind or twist during installation without compressing them with a clamp. I did my BBK without a ring clamp, and it took me 20 minutes to get them in safely, mostly because of the awkward positioning you have to get in when working on the engine inside the frame. Yeah Im never doing that again! The motor is coming out and going on my bench next time,,the darn circlip was the hardest part of the job,,getting that thing in the groove just right without bending it....I couldn't see properly with the motor in the frame at all.I used a small mirror to check it after i got it in,,gave it a little spin to see it move freely..I knew I was home free..what a PITB!!!

Yep, the way it spools up and down like there wasn't any kind of a load to contend with, spins the cvt and rear wheel like they weren't even there, that puppy has some power. Im gonna try like heck too get mine to sound like that,,not too sure it ever will,,he has all that taida stroker stuff on it,,plus its a few mm bigger,,but I will try!! If you want to play you gotta pay$$.
