Ohhh my daughters wanted me to go to Fort Wayne for a bbq, and Id love to, but financial matters, are making me stay home and put the engine in Fawkes, Long story short, My middle daughter is having lot of problems with her pregnancy and because of it, is now off work till after her baby is born, The father ( in Five years, and 2 kids, this one being the third, has never held a job, and uses his temper to control her and the grand kids ) he never even watch the grand kids while she worked, instead keeping his nose in video games for 16 out of 24 hours, coming home to grand kids in dirty diapers, dishes not done, and a dirty house. She finally kicked him out just last week.. Actually I'm quite happy she did away with that bum, but for the next two months I have the financial load.. My Fathers day is honestly every day, when I see the love and respect for me in my daughter's eyes, happy grand kids that are playing and being kids, there is no better father's day and it's every day...

50cc gears?

Well I think upping the gearing is a good idea, but if you go to high on a stock 50 all you will do is slow down your acceleration and have wider swings in Highs and lows... Even if you have a 72 bbk with the stock head your not going to be making full use of your new gearing, as driving these gears you need the torque to do so...
Here's what I'm thinking.
Stock 50 No bbk or bb head....... No Gearing Mods BBk 72cc stock head................... No Gearing Mods BBK 72cc stock head w/hp cam.. No Gearing Mods, from this point down all must include a Free Flow Muffler BBK 83cc Stock head...................16/50 BBK 83cc stock head...................16/50 BBk 83cc BB Head and cam........ 17/49

Ohio was a trip I took with the the scooter club, We lived in Fort Wayne at the time. But we drove to Ohio to see the wind farms.. was a great trip....
I think most mechanics can play a musical instrument of some type, Mechanics is a form of art just as music.. Some may not have developed this skill with an instrument, but that don't mean they aren't able..

Hi bigggroovy, It can be difficult to get a bunch of people that don't know each other to ride... Here's some suggestions, Pick a time, day, and location... Such as a Mcdonalds, The place needs to be pretty central, and easily gotten to by scooter.. Advertize it in Craigs List, or any other free publication, Also put it on your facebook page.. Make it a weekly thing, then start showing up.. The first few times I was there alone, but it builds over time... We would have bfast at Mcdonalds, then go out for a ride.. We had many a great times... Back then Fawkes was only a 72cc.. Here's a video of one of our meetings... Here's another

Thanks kingkaymo, I'm not wanting to do anything like that with Fawkes except, make his engine a stroker again and that's as far as i want to mod him, This is to be a new scoot, right now I'm looking to find a non running ssr Verona 150, to get the frame and other parts..

Looks cool, good luck w the build!! make a thread about it maybe? I think Ive tracked down most of the parts, what I'm really having trouble finding is the base frame for a 150..

Well since you doubt the math, here's something time consuming you could try. Compare all the posts concerning scooter mileage on this forum with one of the SYM, Genuine or Kymco forums. I'm pretty certain you will see right away there is a big difference in total mileage reported on a Chinese scooter vs. a Taiwanese one. Another thing to check would be the percentage of posts concerning a failure or breakdown vs. other reasons. I haven't specifically tallied that up, but from just being a member in several forums, I see many more posts in here about mechanical issues rather then people talking about other aspects of riding a scooter. In the Taiwanese or Japanese scooter forums I see more posts talking about other scooter related stuff and much less about mechanical issues. Over the last several years I've owned 8 scooters. Two of those were Chinese, the other six Taiwanese or Japanese. I am very strict and thorough about maintenance and proper tuning. And yes, I did give both Chinese scooters an infamous Chinese style PDI, replacing some parts from the very start. I think it's pretty obvious what my overall impressions of a Chinese scooter are... Ok that's fair, wanted to know what you were basing your opinion on.. Kymcos as Ive seen aren't any better than the Chinese scoots, but I can't speak for the other brands as I have no personal knowledge of their longevity... I have seen Aprilia's a few have them, almost never any problems at all.. And I really can't use Fawkes as a fair example, Ive really beat and abused that poor little guy, even as a 95cc stroker I pushed and abused him far beyond his design limits...

Hi guys, As many of you know, while trying to get Fawkes up and running, I got a 150 engine from scrappy in a mixup... After looking at the engine for a while today I have decided on a project to put it to work. This what I want to build, or something very close to this, love the motorcycle type handle bars and open gauges.... I will need a frame, for a 150, and pretty much every part and piece, and I have no clue as to who has them... So I decided to post here in hopes that others can help me find the parts i need to do it.. Ill make this a project where i post the building of it... So any and all help will be greatly appreciated...
