howdy, bought a new scoot in december and now have three thousand miles on it and headed out for a thousand mile rounder in a week or so. going across the cascade range and out through the high desert of central oregon and ending in the "treasure valley". heat like you can't believe most years i've been going there.

howdy, having had a sym hd200 , i'd say you will probably see good performance and life from that, but i really don't like the rear fender from some angles.

howdy, the schwinn scooter is actually made in china and there was a dealer in my area that sold a lot of them. they can now be had quite cheap. i can't remember the name of the company that sells them now but they are heavily into 4 wheelers and snowmobiles. i haven't seen any advertisement for those at all and last i looked there is no current trace online. that said, they are the standard chinese scoot.

howdy, i'm going to post another opinion simply as another opinion. i have used synthetics exclusively since 1975 because i'm convinced that they are better for the engine. here's my logic however idiotic it may be.
the reason the engine runs cooler with synthetic oils, which i think is commonly acknowledged here, is that friction is reduced thus less heat. the friction that causes the heat is metal to metal contact which results in the heat and in small particles of metal being dispersed in the oil. the logic i seem to be seeing here is that the synthetic should be changed as often as non synth. i see that as untrue sinply because there is less metal being scraped of into the oil thus less of the contamination that would need to be removed by an oil refreshment. since there is , by all investigation, less contamination there is less often need to change the oil and that changes the economic consideration alluded to above.
i have acquired my vehicles with lots of miles already on them , then changed to synthetic oil and run them many more. never have i had any indication other than that the synthetic oil extended the life of the engine. i have sold many with upwards of 200,000 miles and several with 300,000 miles and have seen them running long after i sold them.
so there is another opinion

howdy i have a friend that had open heart surgury about a month ago. he's riding again but i like to stay close by in case he has a medical or scooter problem. either of us walking a long distance is a no-no. so as my dad used to say, these days all we get done is taking care of each other., referring to him and mom. anyway sometimes riding with someone can be a safety precaution for everyone and that's good.

howdy, the synthetic is compatible with any other oil, just like additives have to be compatible to all previous oils. i don't know if there is a study to confirm that, but the statements on the container proclaims it.

howdy, i guess a little off topic won't hurt. my brother-in-law is a minister and mentioned one of hardest funerals he had to do was in nigeria where the custom is to bury the best bottle of unopened wine with the deceased. i think he may have cried during that funeral---probably knew that vintage.

howdy, now definitely time to go get some bugs in that grey beard. i share that "character"istic. i enjoyed the trip in the twisties so much a couple weeks ago to pacific city that i did it again fathers' day. i had a motorcycle come up on me sudden like and let him around then shadowed him the next 20 miles or so in the fine twisties. 4 single lane bridges etc.
i'm glad you're back home jr and lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
