As long as you get a title that is a killer deal! If there's no title be sure to get a bill of sale at least so that when it's reported as stolen and the cops come to your door accusing you of stealing a scooter you'll be able to prove that you legally obtained it. That's just my two cents on craigslist deals... Do 49cc scooters have to be titled, registered and insured in KY? I ask because I don't see a license plate on the scooter. Maybe he took it off to take pictures? In any case the forum will be here to help you solve all your problems should you get that scooter or a scooter like it. You'll have no trouble getting it back in running condition. As Chris says "Scooters never die! Time for resurrection! "

[replyingto=z0m8i3]Z0M8I3[/replyingto]That's pretty awesome for buying and repairing scooters, but I think there was a debate on this forum about how even though there's no laws for it it's still in one's best interest to have insurance on them? I don't know.
That's pretty cool though, I had to pay over $250 title transferring, registering and insuring my scooter.

I didn't realize Schwinn makes scooters too.. I own a Schwinn bicycle . Love that bike, its from my childhood, but something wrong w it. Want to fix it soon.
I would heed lycos' advice and get the title or a bill of sale. $100 is pretty cheap if its a simple cleaning or fix

What's wrong with yours? As far as a title or bill of sale, I plan on it 100%. But that is only IF I can somehow obtain it. Right now money isn't too tight, just transporting it home would be the problem.. it's roughly 45 miles from me but 1 1/2 hours away. -_- Gotta love no vehicle and living in the hills

howdy, the schwinn scooter is actually made in china and there was a dealer in my area that sold a lot of them. they can now be had quite cheap. i can't remember the name of the company that sells them now but they are heavily into 4 wheelers and snowmobiles. i haven't seen any advertisement for those at all and last i looked there is no current trace online. that said, they are the standard chinese scoot.

Thanks for the info ken I'm calling everyone I can to see if I might be able to purchase this scoot. I know my wife wants to learn and when I showed it to her she fell in love with it. I just hope it's not going to be a pain to fix if I can find a way to get it.
