I will dig up the link but I saw where NC and SC are talking about making moped riders wear a reflect vest due to all of the moped vs car wrecks Vest are the lease of the problems, it pure BS. If they are truly concerned about public safety they would fix this. From South Carolina law SECTION 56-1-1730. Eligibility for, and suspension, revocation, or cancellation of, moped operator's license. A person is eligible for a moped operator's license without regard to his eligibility for or the status of any other driver's license or permit. The department may suspend, revoke, or cancel a moped operator's license only for violations committed while operating a moped. A moped operator's license may be suspended, revoked, or canceled in the same manner and upon the same grounds for which any other motor vehicle operator's license or permit may be suspended, revoked, or canceled. As long as a person can be on the auto revoked list and still legally operate any motor vehicle on the road you have a problem. This loophole in many states flys in the face of public safty.

IMO boots are next in line after a helmet as far as safty gear. I think about how many times I "almost" need to plant a foot when riding. Then what would happen if I did need to have foot meet pavement.
Cycle specific boots only for me.

I know this is simply a matter of semantics but... In the discussions we always talk about the "crud" the ethanol leaves behind. This is a misnomer, ethanol contains alcohol which absorbs water, the alcohol also breaks down rubber parts and the crud that may already be in the fuel system. Both obviously bad for a motor.
But ethanol in and of itself does not leave crud behind.

Ironic, very. Now at least you go out and find yourself at helmet that fits comfortably. The old one is now trash ,disposed of it immediately they are "one use only" items.

The victims too. In fact, victims first! Absolutely! In THIS case though, we're not talking about Charles Manson... it's "Terrilee" the middle-aged, cat-loving, ItIsTheRide member and scooter-jockeyette lady who got into a scuffle that wouldn't have generated more than a raised-eyebrow or two for most of us... Lesson to be learned is that past screw-ups will come back to bite you even after decades... [/i] Both the missus and I have been the victims often enough to put them first, automatically. Yup.Leo & Betty in Texas [/quote] Of course that's assuming she who she says she is on the nameless faceless Internet. You can say I'm from Missouri but if I don't see it I don't believe it. I have to touch it and feel it. I've learned long ago on the Internet people can be whoever it is they want to be. We cannot assume people are being forthright when they type things here. Then again even if she is middle-aged cat Lady that does not make it impossible for her to commit felonious acts. It's rare that a "scuffle" lands one in prison. I don't know if the woman is guilty, innocence or even exists. For all we know she still here and enjoying this thread. Nameless faceless Internet........

Good insurance. After that I just try to park it next to better bikes. China scoots not high on the steal me list in most places I go.

Gotta tell ya I don't give a rats behind if you do or don't wear a lid. If it hits the fan and you die so be it. If you end up a veg then its your family and friends who suffer. Very thoughtful of you.
I've always wondered why the need to tell us.

It started out matte new? Or it is that way now after years of wear and tear? What sort of material is it? paint? Raw plastic? New gunmetal gray matte finish. They tell me it's all the rage..... I come from the shiny generation.

After years of trying to keep things shiny I now have a matte black scooter. I'm looking for suggestions on how to keep the finish up.
Thanks.

You could also ask Pizza Hut, and you'll get this nice box (for free?): It's commercial for them, you know I like it I can make a few bucks while I'm just cruising around......

Leo that's a great scooter. I was looking for a grand vista but couldn't find a leftover at the right price. You're going to love it. Saddlebags add a ton of storage and come on and off in seconds. I use them for shopping and cruising and its money well spent. Enjoy your new ride.

Took the RV200 to Daytona last week. Decided to "dress her up" like I will for longer trips. The saddlebags are SEDICI Toscana Saddlebags and the roll bag is a Bikers Friend Med-large. I had the bags from other scoots so I made them work in the RV. Truth is with the huge under seat storage and the Bikers-friend it won't be often ill need the saddlebags. She's a bit of a "wide-azz" with the saddlebags. Without saddlebags (my day to day setup) The scoot preformed even better than I had hoped. I took A1A and RT 1 on the way down but on the way back I did the last 50 miles or so on I95. She ran with traffic with enough power left for passing. Wind wasn't bad and neither was buffeting from trucks. Vibration was minimal considering the thumper was spinning at 8000rpm. She did very well holding speed going over large, tall bridges but throw in a stiff wind and you are about out of throttle. 171cc has its limits. I reset the GPS trip meter before I got on and turned it off when I got off Rt202. Total 67 miles, average speed 67.3 and a max speed of 73.9. I kept and eye on the GPS and 70mph and 8000 rpm the motor didn't seem to be complaining. The speedo is 7-8mph oppomistic. Fuel consumption was 70 mpg. That surprised me. I was also impressed with the overall balance and tuning of the suspension. Road cracks even at speed are little problem nor were bumps. The scoot also ran like it was on tracks, very sure footed for relatively small wheels. With the huge flat floor and useable foot-forward foot rests there's a ton of room to move the feet around. Want to sit upright in classic scoot fashion ? Go for it ! How about foot forward "Cush" cruising, no problem with the low wide seat. Cross your legs ? Sure plenty of room. In town it's still light and compact enough to "toss around" like a small scooter. I'm a reasonable old gimp when I make these assessments. I'm not comparing it to a Swing or a big Burgman. (Although I think its a world better than the 200). I look at its design purpose and try to judge from there. It's not what most would consider a "touring" scooter but I would have no problems taking it in the road. Ill call it a "mini-maxi".
