It's almost Thanksgiving, and Christmas and New Years Day is approaching fast. This time of year, many of us get to visit loved ones, friends and family. Unfortunately, some of us are incarcerated. Deserved or not, spending the Holidays in prison is dismally-sad for inmates. PLEASE, let's give her encouragement.
I have no idea where TERRILEE is right now, but we miss her posts here, and at ScooterRebels. Maybe, some way, she'll be able to access the Internet and can see that she's not forgotten. So... Here's a prayer from the Missus and Me...Terrilee, may your time there be as short as possible, and as pleasant as possible. Though your situation is not the best, be thankful it's not worse. Spend the Holidays remembering you have many, MANY friends on the scooter sites. We have NOT forgotten you, and look forward to seeing that "Jessica Rabbit" avatar once again soon!
God has a marvelous record of getting people out of jail early, and we pray this will be the case with you. You are MISSED. We CARE about you. We WANT YOU BACK. We also pray for all your kitty "kids" welfare wherever they may be cuddled up.
I'm sure I speak for everyone on ItIsTheRide when I say "Be BLESSED". These times will pass, and you'll be back in the regular world again. May that be as soon as possible! All our prayers and best wishes, Betty & Leo (thinkin' about ya') in Texas!

Leo, you are without doubt one of the most thoughtful fellows on here.
Terri-gal, you've been in my thoughts when I come here. I read posts and sometimes think how you would probably respond. And I miss that, your spirit and spunk. Like Leo and shalom, I too hope your time there ends early and you get out to rejoin us and your kitty-kids soon. Don't let your spirits get down.

Thanks Kat,
I just know that once someone has been "off the radar" for a while, it's easy to get involved in other things, with other people and we tend to neglect thinking about the ones we're not in contact with regularly. I've always had a lot of feeling for those in the military, away on business, away at college, or incarcerated.
Terrilee was a regular poster on the site, and she always had a pull-no-punches opinion. I like that. I also have a feeling she got a raw deal. I miss her posts, and updates on her much-loved cats.
I truly hope she is back soon. She's no punk kid, and is now unfortunately paying dues for things done long ago. Prison life is bad when you're young and tough. It's unspeakable when you're over thirty, in a place full of 20-year-old "gangstas". My 41-year old neighbor just got an early release (lots of prayer involved there!) after serving 7 years of a life sentence in Huntsville, here in Texas (3rd DWI: THAT is TEXAS LAW). He's a "teetotaler" today!
It was 7 years of daily beatings, deprivation, homosexual rape, torture and atrocities at the hands of prison gangs. He resembles survivors from the Nazi death-camps, but he's coming around with loving family, friends and a good job. The "real deal" prison is NOT like Sheriff Andy and Deputy Barney's lockup in "Mayberry"... The missus and I will REALLY be glad to see old "Jessica Rabbit" once again.
So... Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Terrilee, her kitties, and all the scooteristas and scooterinos who join Betty and me in wishing her the best now, and even better when she's released!
Ride safe, and be blessed one and all!
Betty & Leo in Texas

Our prayers and best wishs to the Victims, may they be able to forget what they went through. Alleyoop Alleyoop,
I couldn't agree with you more. I guess I had better clarify my thoughts here. When it comes to crime and the consequences involved, dues must be paid. I'm ex-Army, right-wing-conservative to the core, and the wife and I have been victims ourselves. Got the scars and empty bank account to show for it. In fact, after years of peaceful old-age, last week in the parking lot of the local Wal-Mart I had to convince a fellow bent on taking my old Honda car home, that a ' Accord was NOT worth his life. It's just that I've known too many innocent folks who are sitting jail, and, too many guilty ones who got the message and repented of their ways long ago, but will stay where they are indefinitely. In Terrilee's case, according to her, and, right or wrong, a lot of years of experience prompt me to believe it... She committed some offenses when she was young, and paid the price. Did the time, sentence deserved, no gripes on her part. For a great many years she has since been a law-abiding model citizen. A year or so ago, she became the victim of a physical assault. She resisted bare-handed, and that minor scuffle violated her terms of release, sending her to prison for 3 years. Thus incarcerating her for being the victim this time. Once convicted of a crime, released former offenders lose most of the civil rights we take for granted, including the right of self-defense.As far as Terrilee's past offense was concerned, she'd already paid for it. By attempting to minimize a beating she was enduring she violated the rules, and in middle-age, not equipped to deal with prison brutality, she now is where she is. That's why I stated that I personally felt she got a raw deal...Being a victim is rotten. Being in jail is rotten too. When shot at, I'll shoot back, when stolen from, I'll get the goods back if I can. But sometimes former perps become victims too. Just my own thoughts... some will disagree. That's OK.
Sincerely, Leo in Texas

Very well put Leo, let's not let this thread get out of hand folks, it's the Thanksgiving season and a time to be thankful for all the good things we can be thankful for.
As in all things when it comes to any crime there are two sides to the coin. In this case we have heard from one side of the coin and unless someone knows the other side we don't know what to really think. But regardless of why any person becomes incarcerated one can hope they learn a lesson while paying their debt for wrong doing and then be an example to others of how to correct a wrong and become a model citizen, it can happen I know of those who it has happened too. Also for sure today more than any time we need to think about the victims of any crime, too many times it seems we get caught up in the criminals rights and forget about the oppressed.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Leo, You post things as if you were there or that you know this person personally and know what happened to be a fact. You really do not know what really went down, people that do bad things and get caught will tell all kinds of stories to get people on their side and feel sorry for them.
The way I look at it is You Do the Crime You Do The Time, period. Everyone in the clink says I am innocent or I got a raw deal. When and if you someone gets out all we can hope for is that it changes their way of thinking and live their remaining life in a honest and peaceful way. Alleyoop

OK,
Sorry to ruffle feathers... I only wanted to remind riders to remember a less-fortunate member who had numerous friends on the site. The missus and I have had enough communication with Terrilee to think she probably was being honest in her many posts prior to being locked away.
I don't know her personally, but with long-term messaging, one forms opinions (right OR wrong) about others' views, character and truthfulness.
I believe crimes should be punished, and I think victims rights should always come first, and I also think paying for a crime once is enough. That's just my opinion, but I can see it's a very unpopular one... So before some start thinking this old conservative is a socialist, bleeding-heart liberal, I'll simply wish ONE-AND-ALL on the site a blessed , happy Thanksgiving, no matter where you happen to be.
The wife and I will be having dinner with our many kids and their families, and we'll be thinking of those who cannot do so, for whatever reason, ESPECIALLY those serving in the military, protecting our right to express our own opinions.
Sincerely,
Betty & Leo in Texas
