I agree with chihuahuas and rockynv. Both those coils coils can check out good when cold..but crap out when hot. When I see this happen on customers scoots most of the time it is the pickup coil..but there have been 2 times when it was the CDI wind on the stator. Lefty and chihuahuas showed ya where both coils are so run it till hot then check them. Do know you may not get zero voltage...you most likely will still get a tiny amount of residual voltage but not enough to elicit a spark. Here is a link to a post I made on the old site about testing the electrical system...should help you lots. scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=electricissues&action=display&thread=53915

Red hot exhaust also sounds like you over packed the muffler with steel wool..and the back pressure is causing heat build up..

I was afraid of that. What an oddball. Unfortunately I've got nothing for that one, sorry. Matt Matt..think a QMI152 125cc top end would work? Not measured but it appears to have a 57.8mm stroke like the 125-150 and I would think it would have to in order to displace 100cc with a 47mm bore. Scoot is not here so I can't measure to verify....it is 20 miles away at my mothers house. Belongs to a friend of hers. But then 125cc are impossible to find in the states also and I fear 150cc may be more power than the old guy can handle after being used to 100cc. He is 74 yo and not in the best of shape..hmm..what to do...

What engine is that on? Matt Matt GY6 QMG147 100cc. Looks identical to the short case QMJ157...same size belt etc.

Rebuilding a scoot with a 47mm bore. They ran it WAY lean and the piston cracked. Problem is it is a domed piston and never seen one before on a scoot....just motorcycles. Anybody know who makes a 47mm domed piston?

Awesome...I will try them. Have had to fish 2 rotted floats out myself and the tiny debris that breaks off from them finds its way into your fuel filter if you run low on gas. the broken off pieces are not as buoyant as the whole float itself so they get get sucked into the fuel system.. In fact the float swells so you end up breaking it into pieces to get it out. I am sure they are aware of this...yet they continue to use the same crappy material to make them. Even if yours are more buoyant that is no biggie as the sending unit can be adjusted. In fact each time I replace one it is off...so I drain the tank...add 1/2 gallon of gas...then bend the sending unit wire until it reads 1/2 tank..I then ride it unit's almost empty to verify it reads almost empty...then fill the tank to verify it reads full. Been right on the money twice so far with that method. In fact it's more accurate that way than when they come from the factory. i.e. my girlfriends scoot....it would read 'Full' all day long...then POOF!...it would drop to 1/2 tank a mile later.. So you make 'em...we will gladly try them. I love fishing....but not float fishing...reminds me of the time I was Ice Fishing and caught a large Muskellunge...it would not fit through the 4 inch hole I bored to catch Crappie and Panfish.. ;D

I saw this thread and bought 52. I left one since I didn't want to be greedy. Now I just have to work out how to install them in my scooter. Gee thanks....and now only one left. So now I gotta raid my big change jar and hope I got enough for the last remaining one he has left...before somebody here jumps all over it and gets to it before I do. Since you bought 52 of them...I suggest installing 2 at the same time and make your scooter a 'V Twin'... Post pics of your new 'V Twin' when yer done....can't wait to see it. Since you bought 52..you will have 50 left. You bought them at $452 so I would list them here in the 'for sale' section at $500 each and make a lil profit..

[replyingto=rockynv]rockynv[/replyingto]Sad part is....look at the add. He has 1 left and has sold 52 of them!!!! OK....fess up...who all here has purchased one?.... ;D....lol Instead of selling my parts locally...I need to put them on Ebay. I only get $12.00 for a 669-18-30 belt.....looks like on there I could get $125.00... Actually I would never do that and find it sad when people take advantage of people. I sell my parts not a whole lot above my wholesale cost. The idea is to encourage folks to buy and ride scooters....not rip them off and shun them away. I sell my parts lots cheaper than the other sellers in nearby towns. This brings the customer back and helps with my repair side of the business as I charge less for labor as well. One guy in the city 12 miles away sells bone stock black CDI boxes for $50.00!..and many unknowing have bought them..then find out I sell them for $15.00. Running a profitable business is one thing..but deceit and pure greed disgusts me....

I have a 19mm TK carb with a 45 idle jet and today put in a 105 . I did use a 120 but it sucked gas . I misplaced the 110 I had . Note I have a Uni and MMG pipe . What weight of rollers do you use ? My scooter came with a 40 IJ and 68 MJ but I put in a 75 MJ as I prfer to run rich . I put on a Uni vent cover which is smaller than the big red Uni and it ran great with a MJ on the 49cc engine . I later put on the big red Uni with the same setup with stock exhaust , had a mild midrange bog but dang it I only went a 1/4 of a mile and it soft seized and melted the sparkplug . It was in the upper 90s in the summer time . My second MOD cycles 47mm BBK came with a 45 IJ , a starter jet and a 74 MJ where the first did not have the jets included . I use Mikuni VM11/22 from PowerBarn but my second set of jets I bought were labeled for Kehin but were the same size other than the orifice . Since it is so dang loud I will try to see if the stock exhaust will fit . The MMG pipe would needed to be bent to fit the 49cc engine but was a perfect fit with the 70cc . I will also reinstall the airbox since I ride in the rain and I can not with a Uni . I will order a , 100 , 110 and 115 as a 120 was too much and a 130 sputtered . Stock which was limited to 8,000 RPMs with 6 gram rollers it was 75 to 100 miles on 4 liters of gas . Lighter 4 gram rollers it had less top end and seemed to over rev . I mixed them up to equal 5 grams as many use 4 or 5 grams and it was fine when 49cc but too light with a BBK as it could redline on level pavement and I could not go WOT downhill . I now have 8 gram Dr Pulley sliders , 1.5k clutch and torque springs by Hoca plus their bb torque spring base . Take off is less but it never was an out of the hole like my Honda but has awesome top end and better MPG . Top speed unknown only registers 50 MPH but hits that at 7,000 and tops at 10,500 sending the needle beyond what it will display . Will borrow a geek phone to GPS it . You may have the larger variator like I do which normaly comes on a 90cc engine . Since I ride on highways and have a lil on interstates I wanted to be able to go 50+ without it screaming . With the RPMs up high I hardly slow down when going up a steep hill Almost forgot...I do have an oversized performance variator...rest is all stock but the BBK.Also running KOSO 5 gram sliders. Maybe I need heavier sliders?...

On my Zuma 14.5 carb Autotech355 BBK-VM11/22 # jet. Went to a 17.5 Dellorto carb. It has a Naraku 92 jet but the ID is .037. The factory Dellorto #80 jet ID was .033 the Naraku #80 jet .0295 Not sure what jet is in my Vento It seem like a 87 MRP 48mm BBK (soon to be a 90cc) When I changed the carb size on the Zuma it came to life. I always check the ID of jets. What RPMs do you run most of the time? I have a 19mm Mikuni copy carb. I am guessing I typically run 6,000-8,000 rpm. about 40 mph. But at WOT it is closer to 9,500 at 52 mph via GPS.

No input on what size jets folks are using on their 2T BBK?...

40 MPG confirms she is not running very efficently. Now no 2t is near as effecient MPG wise as a 4t ( assuming equal design criteria. But many small "errors" can really screw up the efficiency of a 2 T. I agree a sxeems awfully large, and a little blow by will really screw up a 2t. Ive worked up outboards a bit and I am very fussy about piston fit and bore being true. Agreed 2 strokes are not very fuel efficient. My Suzuki RM250 takes one full tank of gas just to run one heat. But it is revving well over10,000 rpm...designed for it and displaces 246cc. But this lil 70cc should do better than 40 mpg. Odd part is...the plug is not wet..it is not fouling out...and no excessive smoke from unburned fuel and the extra oil. As you mentioned the condition of the cylinder...that may be an issue as it had one good tight soft seize and slightly scored piston/cylinder. Bottle brush honed it with a new and good cross hatch pattern and compression is running right about 140psi. I am just so curious to see what jet size others run in their 70cc 2T BBK engines...

My Hornet 2 stroke is driving me nuts. Replaced the BBK cause the other one cracked at the base of the cylinder. Could not get it to run right until I finally worked up to a # jet. A # seems a bit excessive to me for a 70cc BBK when at 50cc stock it ran great with a #70. Not sure how it would need to jump from #70 to # with only a 20cc displacement increase. Everything is stock on it except the BBK. With that big jet my mileage is so poor I may as well drive an SUV It seems to be getting less than 40 mpg. So...my question is..just out of curiosity what size jet are you folks using on your Minarelli 70cc BBK?
