Some helpful tips for dealing with law enforcement officers Think carefully about your words, movement, body language, and emotions. Don't get into an argument with the police. Remember, anything you say or do can be used against you. Keep your hands where the police can see them. Don't run. Don't touch any police officer. Don't resist even if you believe you are innocent. Don't complain on the scene or tell the police they're wrong or that you're going to file a complaint. Do not make any statements regarding the incident. Ask for a lawyer immediately upon your arrest. Remember officers' badge and patrol car numbers. Write down everything you remember ASAP. Try to find witnesses and their names and phone numbers. If you are injured, take photographs of the injuries as soon as possible, but make sure you seek medical attention first. If you feel your rights have been violated, file a written complaint with police department's internal affairs division or civilian complaint board. Thanks...VERY good and solid advice. Although I have said many times here that Michigan township...county and State Police suck..and it is true....your advice is very true. I no longer even speak when stopped...and they stop all scooters cause the Meth kids use them for delivery...so I understand. But last 2 times I was stopped...I claimed my 5th amendment and said nothing more..answered no questions. At which time..both times I was informed that by not speaking...I could be arrested for impeding a Police Officers investigation! Mr Dillon we just can't win up here...mind coming over and showing them how it's done?.. Cause their anger..rudeness....aggression...illegal searches and intimidation technique does not work... Either you or a Virginia or North Carolina LEO needs to give classes up here... Believe me....I know they are human just like all of us...and we all have bad days. But however....just like us...we can't allow our bad day to dictate our behavior at work... we'd be fired!..

I miss the feature my first scooter had. The carburetor had a needle valve with an external knurled knob. I could reach down and make mixture adjustments as I rode down the road. My first motorcycle had that. A 1970 Suzuki X6 Hustler...twin cylinder 6 speed 250 2 stroke. Man those old 2 stroke road bikes were fast!!! Yamaha made a twin like that too..I think it was the RD200 or RD250? But yes...the externally adjustable carbs were awesome. Wonder why nobody makes that carb style anymore? Dellorto is close...as you can change the jet without opening the carb..but the external needle was better....

My mother is 74 yo and has the same problem. I taught her to do it just like in the video that cookietin posted. The further back you are..the more the fulcrum point changes giving you more leverage. Give it a try ex Marine brother. By the way...retired USMC Corpsman....21 years...Semper Fi my brother... p.s. Also as spandi mentioned..you can use a stand. Harbor Freight has them as cheap as $89...and as low as $50 when you get a circular in the mail or print out their coupon from the online site. You push the scoot or motorcycle over it.....then use the hydraulic jack to lift it. My neighbor has a super heavy Harley FLH Full Dresser. He uses this one in the following link. Just secure it to the stand with one tie down strap and lift away! It is so easy his 7 yo daughter loves to jack it up for him.. www.harborfreight.com/1500-lb-capacity-atv-motorcycle-lift-2792.html

It also depends on what DMV you ae dealing with. In Massachusetts 40 years ago and Florida since I moved here it has been shut off the engine, stay in the vehicle and keep your hands where they can be seen. Just a little common when dealing with an armed force that is known to suffer armed attacks at night while performing routine traffic stops. ooo yea i forgot about the turning the car off. I do the same thing on my scooter. as soon as i park i turn it off. On a scooter..they tell us to get of..walk 10 feet forward and face away from the road. They then pull the keys and look under the seat storage area and in the luggage box on the back and glovebox if you have one. I always say.."You can't search without a warrant or my permission"...always get the same answer..."Looks to me like I just did"... I have nothing to hide...but the law is the law. How the do they expect us to follow the laws when they won't? 21 years military....been in nearly every state and found their Officers were very professional and courteous. The 2 NUMBER ONE states for the best Officers ever are... Virginia and North Carolina. In those states if your car breaks down etc...they will help you push it off the road so you can call someone. They also issue more warnings than tickets as they are part of a 'get rich' scheme. Of all 50 states the top of the 'assholes' list...coming in at #1 is here in Michigan. If your car breaks down...even if you yourself push it off the road for safety..they call a wrecker company and tow it immediately! Probably % that get pulled over here...get a $100 ticket for no seatbelt...because instinctively we unhook so we can reach back for our wallet to get our license. They see you unhook the seatbelt..yet approach the car and inform you..."First off...I will be issuing a citation for no seatbelt"...then they go from there. One of my best friends is a State Trooper...he retired last year..and Terri said he was soooo glad to go as he got tired of their Commander pushing them to ticket for ANY infraction...as a means of revenue for the dept and state....both operating in the 'red zone'.... What they really need is to stop blowing money. Our bicycle Police ride $1,600 bikes...when they could get by just as well with a $400 Cannondale bike... it was good enough for Lance Armstrong. Then pay $1,750 for a bullet proof vest that I can buy for $475...

Weather effects all motors even cars and trucks. It all depends on the density of the air. When it gets warm the motors always loose power unless the fuel ratio to air and timing is automatically changed like today's vehicles which are computerized. In cooler weather the motors need more fuel and in hot weather they need less fuel. It makes no sense to be changing the fuel ratio mixture two times a day one for the cooler mornings and one for later in the day when the temps go up. So you can find a happy medium to accommodate both hot and cold changes. When it is summer and the temps are always up there then you can just adjust it for HOT weather(LEAN THE MIXTURE). If in the dead of winter then you can adjust it for COLD weather(RICHEN THE MIXTURE). Alleyoop As Alleyoop and prodigit said!!! We ride all winter here in Michigan even at 10 degrees out...as long as the roads are clear. My 2T Jonway Hornet with BBK....1.5K clutch springs and oversized variator runs like a scalded dawg when below 40 degrees out....jet like take off and will GPS right at 60. At 70 or above I lose 7-8 mph as the cold air is more dense soooo..... I have a 3/8 hole drilled in the back of my airbox with a rubber stopper pressed into it. For warmer weather I pull the plug and upjet slightly. This puts me right back at the same stoichiometric ratio I was running during the winter. I feel bad for those in Komifornia as they do an exhaust 'sniffer test' and maintaining the EPA stoichiometric ratio of 14:1 must be impossible with weather changes..

@ skuttadawg...the KOSO's are in between the cheap green ones and Ninja ones they sell on Ebay...a bit harder but not as rock hard as the Dr Pulleys. I will dig up some pics of the CVT wear from the KOSO's(none) and the Dr Pulleys(nice trenches in the CVT) But maybe both the performance CVT's I bought were just super soft aluminum?? @ Everybody else....as to why my 2T just coasts on decel and all our 4T's 'Jake Brake'..decel quickly when you let off the throttle is beyond me. Have tried to think of everything even run them all with the cover off to watch. Yet on the 2T it is just like my car when I push in the clutch...the only thing that slows it is wind drag and the unavoidable inherent friction. The 4T Sunny's as soon as you let off throttle they decel..and in fact you can really feel it..it is as if you are applying slight brake lever. prodigit...try the KOSO's...trust me you will be impressed. MY take off is as ryan52 my neighbor on here says in his words.."Dude take off on this thing is mad crazy..0-35 in about 50-75 feet!.....then a couple hundred more feet and I was at 52-53" Which is exactly what I find with the KOSO's ....rocket like take off...1 second or so pause at 35 as it 'shifts' so to speak...then up to 55 quite abruptly after that. NOTE TO EVERYONE that buy or already have KOSO sliders. MO at scrappys is wrong and all 3 vids on youtube are WRONG in the way they are installed!!! The words KOSO on them go up...vice against the center of the CVT. Try them both ways and you will see I am right. ;D KOSO offers no instructions with any product they sell and they are hard to reach. But 9 emails later they finally told me.."KOSO goes up when installed" Furthermore...as most know all brands of sliders come 1 gram lighter than marked...so ya gotta play a guessing game. Of the 7 sets I have installed....1 for me and 6 for customers...they weigh EXACTLY as marked. @ prodigit..if I was a wealthy man I would buy and send you a set...you'd never go back to anything else..no sir...

why's koso so much better than other brands? Does the price increase justify buying them, even if it's on a scoot that probably will retire in a year or two? Well I have tried 2 different sets of Dr Pulley. The claim tougher material and wear less. Wear less...yes it is true..they did not wear as the material is so durable....BUT they sure wore nice channels in an $ variator...cause the sliders are harder than our aluminum variators. The KOSO sliders do wear...takes about 8,000+ miles...but at $14.00 they were cheaper to replace than the $ variator was to replace.. I have tried Ninja and some generic brand green colored slider they sell on Ebay..but after about 2,000 miles customer came back saying he was losing speed. Opened the variator and talk about worn sliders...wow..looked like you took them to a bench grinder. To answer your question as to why I like KOSO...the Ninja and green cheapies on Ebay are so soft you can slice them with your thumbnail and they wear way too fast....the DR Pulley are tough as they say...almost like concrete and they wear the variator before themselves. That is why I like KOSO...they fall in the middle and I would rather replace sliders than an expensive performance variator after the Dr Pulleys eat it up.. I was blown away when I saw the deep channels they ate in my NCY and Hoca variators. As Paul Harvey would say..."And now...now you know ...the rest of the story...."

Thats cops for ya. Always stay in the car with your hands on the steering wheel. Get your license and paperwork after the cop ask you for them because after you get pulled over and the cop sees you reaching for something (your paperwork) he could think your reaching for a weapon. Even after he ask you for the paperwork if its in your glove box reach of it slowly or tell him its in your glove box and that you are going to get it. A cops heart rate goes up when they pull you over and start to go towards your car the heart rate increases. if he sees your hands on the steering wheel his heart rate will go down and will be calmer. If for whatever reason you need to get out of your car ask first. Always keep your hands on the steering wheel while they are checking your license or writing you a ticket. 99% of the time you have to sign your ticket on his clipboard. Dont take it from him. He will hold onto it, just sign it there. If you got a problem with the ticket you can always go to court. Got a Associates degree in Criminal Justice. Its one of the first things we learned Walt...check this out...talk about a dumb and dangerous law. While stationed in Virginia...everyone is allowed to carry a firearm as long as it can be seen in your hip or shoulder holster Which I think is kewl and a good idea!! Cause you never hear on the news "Lady robbed at 11:00 p.m. last night at an ATM" ;D I handgun Deer hunt...so I would come back from the hunt with my 454 Cassull pistol in my shoulder holster...walk in my bank n get money..then go to the grocery store across the street for a few things...all the while wearing my firearm. In Norfolk and Virginia Beach...2 very high crime areas I was not once hassled..harassed..assaulted or attempted to be robbed. Now here is the DUMB part of the law as explained to me by Sally Cotton....a State Trooper that stopped me for brake lights not working. When she approached the car she saw the gun...told me to slowly put it out the window and on the roof of the car. She advised me of the law..in which next time I get stopped I MUST tell the approaching officer I have a firearm....then slowly put it out the window on the roof of the car so it was out of my reach. BLEW ME AWAY!!! How dumb and dangerous..."I gotta gun" then you stick it out the window??? OMG some nervous Officer may end up shooting you for a 5 mph over the speed limit stop if you go sticking a gun out the window...but it is the law. So after that I just carried it in my trunk. Cause I sure didn't want to die from 'Lead poisoning' on a city street for failure to signal a turn etc...then whip out a gun as the officer approached...eesh.....some laws make no sense!!..

If the ATM-50 is stock....I would go with KOSO 5 gram sliders from Scrappydogscooters. They are REAL KOSO not imitation ones most sell. All customers that want to stay stock 50 have me put them in....take off is faster...and top end id 8-10 mph more. As for the big bore....NEVER run it lean or even slightly lean. I have seen no fewer than 5 customers who had another shop put on a BBK for them...and left the stock jet. All 5 had piston meltdown or cracked piston. My gf scoot is a 4T with a BBK and #82 jet vice #72 it came with. Her mileage is the same...but that is because she does not run WOT all the time....she rides it 'normally' and the extra torque from the BBK allows her engine to have to work less to cruise at 40.....where her stock 50 setup the engine was working hard and really revving hard to get to 40mph. Btw...a note to ALL on here...the youtube vids on installing KOSO sliders is dead wrong! They go in so the word KOSO is on top and visible. Most tell ya to put 'KOSO' up against the center of the variator..even MO from Scrappy's said this. Not attacking anyone...but that is the wrong way. I tried both and with KOSO facing the center there was barely even a slight improvement. I put them in with KOSO up and now take off is right now! Top end gets 10 more mph even. Sucks that KOSO sells a product without instructions when they make super quality products. After many attempts to email or call them....you eventually get through....and they will tell you... 'KOSO' goes up. So I asked why not one of the fine products they make come with instructions. No reply first few times....then was told items they sell are for a mechanic to install and the mechanic should know what to do and how to do it. But still...their parts rock..are top notch..and the first brand I seek when buying performance parts.. ;D

I also think automotive resin would work...what they use with fiberglass cloth for body work. Many boat gas tanks are made of..or repaired with that polyester resin. They also make a specific resin for fuel tanks called Hetron 922 that race car drivers use. Here is a link to one brand...they are a bit more pricey than most...so a Google search will find you a better deal. Even at their price..one quart of Hetron 922 will coat literally several hundred floats. Here is a link.. www.fibreglast.com/product/General_Purpose_Vinyl_Ester_Resin_just_resin_1110?gclid=CKGR3pPUs7YCFcw7MgodsxgAygThere are many version of Hetron... i.e. Hetron 922L....Hetron 980. It is all made by Ashland..so check their site. Most all of their resins are gas proof. ;D

I have a 300ft/lb plug in one from Harbor Freight...and like above...I STRONGLY suggest a newbie not get one with that much torque....mine will strip nuts like they are made of plastic. They also have no ft/lb setting for protection.....so ya gotta STOP immediately as soon as you hear its 3rd hammer blow. Don't get me wrong...a newbie could use one...just follow the advice about...no more than 3 hammer hits with it and you will be ok. My buddy bought one from Harbor Freight...it plugs into your cars cigarette lighter. I laughed because my Harbor Freight 'plug in the cigarette light' will barely inflate my car tires...it hits 20 psi and the plug gets hot and melts....literally melts...sags and falls outta the socket. However his 'plug into cigarette lighter' really shocked me!! It took off his car lug nuts..so we tried it on his scoots CVT and Clutch..it had to hammer a few times...but it actually got those nuts off.Awesome A little advice if you use the lighter socket impact from Harbor Freight..MAKE SURE the car is running..or for some reason you are getting enough voltage/amperage for it to bust the CVT and Clutch nuts loose. But the thing does work! Avoid their lighter plug in air compressors..bought 2 different ones and they both had major melt down..

So when I accelerate, sliders stay longer in smaller gear, causing better acceleration, or so I've heard. What about deceleration? Will sliders remain longer at the top of the variator, go down as fast as rollers, or will they shift into lower gear faster than rollers? With my 5g KOSO sliders and 1.5K torque spring in my 2T...they just 'glide' and there is no braking effect like I got when I used rollers. With rollers the engine provided a bit of braking effect it seemed and with my sliders there is none. It is like pushing your stick shift cars clutch in...you just coast then rely on the brakes to slow or stop you. My sliders don't give..as truckers call it "Jake Braking'...they simply coast. But can't tell you if it is the sliders or 1.5K torque spring that allows me to coast...vice decel from the engines compression and inherent drag..

It tends to be an abuse of power by a person that the majority of...were ex military and got booted before their 4 year enlistment was up. So they become Law enforcement so they can have a gun and badge...and power and control over others.....is what it amounts to. Ryan(member on here) and I get stopped lots for no reason. Get patted down....scooter searched etc. When you ask why you stopped they won't tell you. So you say..."Ok Officer what did I do wrong?".....answer ya get EVERYTIME...."What makes you think you did something wrong....well...did you..what was it?" <---- ridiculous reply to a valid question. We both remind them of the law and that they must have a probable cause.....standard reply they give.."Sir shut up...we know the the laws..but we do it our way..we pretty much do as we please" <--- no joke ask ryan. He and I talk about it lots and trying to find a way pay their @sses back. But the local Township and County officials could care less. We live in a VERY impoverished town....and even told me he writes tickets cause he knows the locals can't afford an Attorney to fight it....so they pay it. Their favorite scam I warn locals about...when you get pulled over...by instinct what is the first thing ya do? You unclip your seatbelt so you can reach back and get your wallet. They see you do this...yet when they approach the car...they say... "No seatbelt...that is a $100 fine...now I need to see your license...registration and proof of insurance. I will be issuing a citation for no seatbelt by the way"....
