so last night i was leaving the waffle house and going across the main street to get my smokes and a drink got pulled over for no seat belt give the cop my lic. and ins. card he goes to his squad car starts his paper work my hip starts hurting so i decided to stand next to my car the cop yells at me to get back in the car i try to tell him i needed to stand for a minute because of my bad hip he then comes at me with tazer out treating to force me back in the car so i sit down pull my feet back in and before i could reach for the door to close it he slams it shut now i have no problem for the citation for the seat belt (i think the law is unconstitutional) but that does not give the cop to threaten me or to slam my car door cops want people to give them respect but they also need to respect other as well

Always have license , registration and proof of insurance handy in a flash to hand over .
When I was younger and got in trouble for fighting I got tazed with the dart style , I stood there and asked if they really wanted to make me mad . I am so used to pain and wear a Tens unit that it did not bother me that much as I was already in psycho mode . Pepper spray did burn my eyes and I had two sets of handcuffs side by side and zip ties around my ankles since I was ambushed by several cops .
In SC seat belt violation is only a 25 dollar fine . If you want to file a complaint check with your internal affairs division of SLED as when the blue lights are on the cameras are recording and the tape can be reviewed

Even slightly disagreeing with a cop is like bringing a knife to a gunfight... Here in Texas, you hope a "warning-shot" goes into your leg, not your head... LO not so L... Leo (stayin' pals with John Law) in Texas

You do not get out of your car at night during a traffic stop unless asked to or until after you have asked for permisson to do so and have received it. Too many police officers are killed during routine traffic stops to allow it. You sit there with your hands on the steering wheel and do as your told.

It's all the criminal's faults. Unfortunately some cops deal with criminals, and criminal behaviors, and that makes them d#cks!
Same here in the hotel. I work in a hotel. We sometimes get guests who request a room key. We can not give it to them, unless they have a valid ID for the room. Some guests truly forgot their id's in the room, but then that's their own stupid fault. Some guests just should not even be in that room, so we have no choice but to enforce the rules, no matter how un-friendly this may seem. We don't want to be a d#ck, but neither would we want to lose our jobs, because some drunk forgot his room number, gave a generic room number, got in, and stole all the jewelry, laptops and cash! Had that happen once (not under my watch), and the hotel had to pay $1800 to the guest. But not anymore!
So, sorry if you lost your ID in the room... You shouldn't be walking outside without it anyway. So you'll have to suffer discomfort, for safety reasons.

It tends to be an abuse of power by a person that the majority of...were ex military and got booted before their 4 year enlistment was up. So they become Law enforcement so they can have a gun and badge...and power and control over others.....is what it amounts to. Ryan(member on here) and I get stopped lots for no reason. Get patted down....scooter searched etc. When you ask why you stopped they won't tell you. So you say..."Ok Officer what did I do wrong?".....answer ya get EVERYTIME...."What makes you think you did something wrong....well...did you..what was it?" <---- ridiculous reply to a valid question. We both remind them of the law and that they must have a probable cause.....standard reply they give.."Sir shut up...we know the the laws..but we do it our way..we pretty much do as we please" <--- no joke ask ryan. He and I talk about it lots and trying to find a way pay their @sses back. But the local Township and County officials could care less. We live in a VERY impoverished town....and even told me he writes tickets cause he knows the locals can't afford an Attorney to fight it....so they pay it. Their favorite scam I warn locals about...when you get pulled over...by instinct what is the first thing ya do? You unclip your seatbelt so you can reach back and get your wallet. They see you do this...yet when they approach the car...they say... "No seatbelt...that is a $100 fine...now I need to see your license...registration and proof of insurance. I will be issuing a citation for no seatbelt by the way"....

Call and make a complaint to his superiors. If he wants you to stay in the car after stopping you he needs to tell you to please stay put. People saying you should know not to get out or that you should ask permission to get out of your own car on a PUBLIC road?
A policeman is a "law enforcement" officer not a "invent laws, go psycho and threaten citizens" dictator. I would go down and ask to speak to their public relations officer and demand a mediation hearing with this officer. Your local news TV and paper could use a good cop abuse story.

Thats cops for ya. Always stay in the car with your hands on the steering wheel. Get your license and paperwork after the cop ask you for them because after you get pulled over and the cop sees you reaching for something (your paperwork) he could think your reaching for a weapon. Even after he ask you for the paperwork if its in your glove box reach of it slowly or tell him its in your glove box and that you are going to get it. A cops heart rate goes up when they pull you over and start to go towards your car the heart rate increases. if he sees your hands on the steering wheel his heart rate will go down and will be calmer. If for whatever reason you need to get out of your car ask first. Always keep your hands on the steering wheel while they are checking your license or writing you a ticket. 99% of the time you have to sign your ticket on his clipboard. Dont take it from him. He will hold onto it, just sign it there. If you got a problem with the ticket you can always go to court.
Got a Associates degree in Criminal Justice. Its one of the first things we learned

Im in law enforcement and if a suspect got out of the car during a traffic stop i would assume he was trying to make a run for it or make an attempt to fight.

Its one of the first things we learned Walt...check this out...talk about a dumb and dangerous law. While stationed in Virginia...everyone is allowed to carry a firearm as long as it can be seen in your hip or shoulder holster Which I think is kewl and a good idea!! Cause you never hear on the news "Lady robbed at 11:00 p.m. last night at an ATM" ;D I handgun Deer hunt...so I would come back from the hunt with my 454 Cassull pistol in my shoulder holster...walk in my bank n get money..then go to the grocery store across the street for a few things...all the while wearing my firearm. In Norfolk and Virginia Beach...2 very high crime areas I was not once hassled..harassed..assaulted or attempted to be robbed. Now here is the DUMB part of the law as explained to me by Sally Cotton....a State Trooper that stopped me for brake lights not working. When she approached the car she saw the gun...told me to slowly put it out the window and on the roof of the car. She advised me of the law..in which next time I get stopped I MUST tell the approaching officer I have a firearm....then slowly put it out the window on the roof of the car so it was out of my reach. BLEW ME AWAY!!! How dumb and dangerous..."I gotta gun" then you stick it out the window??? OMG some nervous Officer may end up shooting you for a 5 mph over the speed limit stop if you go sticking a gun out the window...but it is the law. So after that I just carried it in my trunk. Cause I sure didn't want to die from 'Lead poisoning' on a city street for failure to signal a turn etc...then whip out a gun as the officer approached...eesh.....some laws make no sense!!..

Actually how to behave during a traffic stop has been in every DMV drivers handbook I have seen which you have to study before you can get a drivers license so everyone who drives should already be aware of this. If you didn't study the material for new drivers like you were supposed to it really is not the officers fault.

Yea its like Alaska. It has an open carry law and if you get stopped the first thing you have to do before anything is tell the police you have a gun in the car. The cop will then ask you to take the gun out and they will run a check on it real quick to make sure its not stolen or anything.
