Do not judge the police until you have walked a mile in his shoes. I hope people understand that they are only hearing one side of the story. there is an old saying "do not believe anything you hear and only 1/2 of what you see." I wonder how many of you have the guts to try to be a police officer and hear this garbage every day of your life. The goal of every police officer is to go home tonight. Maybe you should look into the mirror to see why you are getting treated the way you are. If you come across as a smart grab hold you will be treated as a smart . I spent 31 years out there as A Texas State Trooper and AM DAMN PROUD OF IT. Now if I do not belong on this forum let me know and I will get off. No guts?..lol..I spent 21 years as a Combat Medic for the USMC. Retired now. Took a bullet to my back which destroyed the the top half of my right kidney. I am NOT saying all LEO's are bad..and I am sure you were an excellent one. In fact if you read one of my above posts I say that while active duty I have been in nearly all 50 states for some type of training or other. I made note..a very positive note...that in the Southern states I saw that the LEO were outstanding....very fair and treated everyone with respect. Have I walked a mile in your shoes?....No...have you walked a mile n mine?..No. Law Enforcement just like any job has its good...professional and outstanding employees...as well as its share of not so great employees. Why would you not belong on this forum? It would be bad to see you go. We are just voicing our experiences....NONE of which you were part of or responsible for.  ...k?... While you served I am sure you met a few corrupt...crude...or non conforming Officers that you just wanted to bust in the chops. We have employees like that at the Hospital. They put the patient second as they play music and text on their cell phones. When they do interact with a patient...their attitude and behavior is extremely poor. To the point I frequently say to them.."Hey...what if that was your mother in there...would you be the same?....One day it could be her..would you want the staff to treat her the same way?...Also...not only is that lady another human...she is also somebody's mother" So please stay a member of the forum..do not take it personal..cause as I said....you were no part of it. There are good and bad people in all walks of life....just as we have poor Cardiac Techs....that does not make me one...no more than 3 crude and corrupt local LEO's makes you one...  |

My belief is if the violator is a police officer the penalty should be double. Because he not only violated the law but a trust also. That is all I have to say you all have a good life.

I agree....but please do not depart the site over the actions of other LEO's we discuss. If you leave this site...you are taking on their bad behavior....when you were not responsible...never did it...and were an outstanding LEO. There are folks here that don't care for Military...yet I stay...cause as I see it....had it not been for me protecting their freedom for 21 years...they would not have a PC...allowed internet or even a chat board to discuss scooters. So don't pack it up and give in Officer..hang tight and be proud... Btw..we have not heard about your scoot...so what ya got...do tell..post a pic even.. |

I attended a course on community relations once and the first statement was without police there can be no society. Think about it.

ok i rather to be stop by a state trooper than a back woods city police cop any day of the week i have friends that are police officers and have found that the state troopers to be better ed. and will treat the people that they stop better now i did nothing to be a smart a** with the officer that stop me and in the end of everything that happen he step over the line he would not listen to what i try to tell him and all he wanted to do is show that he could do what the he** he wanted and all i could do is take it

Nobody here is bashing ALL Officers nor you...no need to take it personally...because..well none of it is personal. Look at it this way...we Military face death on a daily basis...people bash us....and a group even protested at one my buddies funeral. I don't take it personal..nor do my Military friends. We just plug away and continue on. No matter who you are..or what you do for a living...someone is going to have issues with you. Take the Postal Service for example..a person orders scooter parts...or other items..they don't show up in the promised 3-5 day express period. What happens?....Folks verbally attack the lady that delivers the mail....and she has nothing to do with the problem. Does she take it personally? Ours doesn't...it just rolls off her back...as it should... |

I'm a truck driver. The simple fact is: being a cop is not an especially dangerous job! (It's not in the top ten, I'm #8.) |

Well, I might have misplaced faith in people and all that, but I for one am thankful for police officers out there risking their lives to protect mine and my stuff. And firemen. And I'm thankful for all our military, who put their lives at risk so I can go about my carefree naive FREE life with fewer worries beyond bills.
Yes, there's always gonna' be bad folks in any job. And yes, it's suxier when it's folks with authority (and esp with a gun to back it up, if they're REALLY bad). But like I said, I doubt that EVERYone in any legal system is corrupt. Report the bad cop to his/her superiors. If they don't act, take it to THEIR superiors. At some point you'll find the honest ones. Or else call a lawyer and just ask--"Hey, who's honest at the courthouse and will bust down on a dishonest cop abusing his power?"
If EVERYone, 100% of all people, working in the law field in your area are bad/corrupt/abusive, I'd move. 'Cause I wouldn't want to live in a place where I couldn't trust anybody at all, where everybody is out to get you, where they may shoot you just 'cause they can. That's no way to live. After all, we're not in a war zone.
Here, have a pair of rosy glasses. Life's much happier with them on, apparently.

Ours doesn't...it just rolls off her back...as it should... Not true for all. One of our news just had a story on a mailman who took the mail home every day and buried it with a backhoe. Said he was just basically lazy and wanted to get home sooner. I'm thinking isn't it way more work and effort to backhoe a hole to bury undelivered mail in?  >'Kat |

Facts and statistics can be written to prove almost anything the author wishes to. i never believe in top ten lists, what i posted a link to is the truth about people that died protecting others. |

tvnacman<----< is not looking to fuel the fire , more than once I have had interaction with law enforcement . The individual officer showed he was not a decent human . I have encounters where the person was rather nasty and loud . I see how they can bait a less patient person in .
I would not want to be the doing there job it is very hi stress . The class of people your dealing with can be very undesireable/unsavory .
I have had one officer do a 360 , he bit my head off . I asked him "do you need to vent , I have a nagging wife home too , she gets me twisted too , then add the mother-in-law in the mix F$%k" he looked at me and said go . I said to him take a breather .
Then there was the one that was tail gating me for about 15-20 miles on my bumper for creeping past him . Everyone has no balls to pass the cop on the hwy I did . 3 lane hwy he rode my bumper just would not get off my bumper . I rolled up on someone in the middle lane while I was in the left lane with him on my bumper . I put my rear bumper just the front bumper of the guy in the middle lane , I shot across two lanes to the right hand lane . I slowed down in the right lane and let him pass . He just about stopped i went passed him the he got behind me again then he lit it up , I stopped right there no shoulder and waved him to come get me . I guess he felt safe to ride my bumper 20 minuets , but not to check my paper work with no shoulder to pull over on . He got on his pa system and told me to proceed to the exit . I idled to it about 1/2 mile . The donkey he was told me he pulled me over for not signaling . I had just taking my road test for the MC LIC so I had the interm LIC . I told him what the deal was . We had a verbal exchange , I was hoping to get a ticket from him and he knew it . I had my 2 year old daughter my 12 year old neice and my wife lined up in the back seat . he was in an ESU truck , it was a pickup with all the compartments . He had me pull off the HWY because , if he pulled me over on the HWY it was out of his jurastriction . The way I stared him down he knew if the kids were not in the car we would have been brawling , he knew he was wrong . I did not get a ticket , I would have called IA and I should have . I got the feeling his partner did not want to work with him . That was a bottom of the barrel cop . I'm sure he has had many complants filed for his conduct .
This does not make me feel that cops are bad there are a few that are bad . This was just one of them .
