Appeals to emotion do not change facts. Facts and statistics can be written to prove almost anything the author wishes to. i never believe in top ten lists, what i posted a link to is the truth about people that died protecting others. In other words: all you have is emotion.

The Marshall's right. Clever editing can make something truthful, yet totally biased and supporting your platform when it originally proved against it.
What's his name, the guy who makes so-called documentaries which are really emotionaries for his bias, he's a pro at doing that. All true, but edited in such a way that a fact seems to go against what it originally proved/supported.
I only go for lists and "facts" when several different sources support them. Or else when a good friend tells me, 'cause he typically researches into the actual truth of the subject rather than the hype or emotion or single stated fact.

Btb, all I have usually is emotion, too. Emotion is why I bought a scooter. Emotion is why and how I create art. Emotion is how I help customers. Guess I'm all girly-girl. Can't seem to help going by emotion. >'Kat

I got my information straight from the Bureau of Labor Statistics & their 10 most dangerous jobs report. Police officers are not on the list, truck drivers are. (Unsurprisingly, the top three are fisherman, loggers, & miners.) Also note: last report I saw (I think from 2010), the most common cause of on-the-job death for a cop is a car crash.

I have some of those, too...a few are from the time I called 911 because my father was using me as a punching bag for the hundredth time. Two cops showed up...they spent 10-15 minutes laughing and joking with him, told him not to "leave too many marks", and left. He beat me unconscious, gave me a concussion (one of a dozen or more), knocked out a couple teeth, and probably fractured my skull when he threw me down a flight of stairs. He told me if I "squealed" (his exact word) on either cop, he'd torture me to death.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone with my comments. I know I will never change your mind and you will not change mine. So lets just say I am an old man with an attitude and let it go. I want this forum to be the best it can be and wish everyone on the forum the best in the world.

It is too bad that JWM deleted his account.
The fact is that given the job a police person has many of them will give the public a bad taste in their mouth. I know after having a friend have her son killed by a local policeman in her kitchen (in front of her), and the circumstances behind it, I am less than falling at their feet and kissing the ground they walk on. It is a fact that people are not perfect, including policemen. It is also a fact that not all policemen will do the things that make so many people come to not like them.

Not all of us are dishonest or abuse the power entrusted in us. Here is our creed and one i believe in and follow to the letter. Police Officer’s Creed As a law enforcement officer,my fundamental duty is to serve mankind;to safeguard lives and property,to protect the innocent against deception, the ‐weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all men to liberty, equality, and justice. I‐will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all, maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn, or ridicule; develop self‐restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others .Honest in thought and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of my department. What everI see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity ‐will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty. I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or friendships to influence my decisions. With no compromise for crime and with relentless prosecution of criminals, I‐will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting gratuities. I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service. I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself to my chosen profession... law enforcement.

unfortunately there are to many police officers that don't hold to the greed and i faced one of them last wed. and i try my best to live my life law abiding as possible there are laws out there that are unjust and i still think the seat belt law is one of them how does me not wearing a seat belt effect any other person it denies me my freedom of choice and all the law was put in place for Ins. co. wanted it for some study they have showing it to save lives i for a fact don't think so as the day i had my wreck if i had the seat belt on i would have been killed with massive head trauma and my first cousin was kill the same day in a def accident wearing his

I guess some people really hate seat belts in 4 wheel vehicles here and don't want to hear the reality of how they do save lives. Then again we all ride scooters and have to resort to hemlets and protective clothing to get a small margine of safety.
