The fact that you had a top end bearing failure is worrisome. It may have been a factory defect, but it may also be a symptom of oil starvation and overheating. We'll have rely on your judgement as to what sort of noise you're hearing, (any chance of an audio clip or walk around video?) If there's a chance that the noise is a mid frequency clunking rather than a higher pitch tapping, then maybe the oil problem turned in to a rod knocking. Since your machine is offline anyway it might be worth your while to drop the motor out and pull the rest of the top end to find out what condition the rod and the piston and rings are in. You know, since you're already half way there... i read through some of your old post and found this response. quoting it for all to see as it might be the root of your problem. i don't know how to test if your oil pump is working nor do i know how to change an oil pump. hopefully someone can give you some better info now that it appears your scooter has been running without (or with very little) oil. Ok.. I had to order a new camshaft holder because my other one cracked into pieces. this also leads me to believe your oil pump is failing.

Anyone? i'm not up to speed with what has been done so far. i did read in your other thread that you adjusted the valves and then asked how you adjust the timing... if you didn't have it in the correct position when you adjusted the valves then you should start with another valve adjustment first. did you (or can you) post a vid. that would certainly make it easier for others to help you. good luck

I don't think running the LED's on AC would cause any problem except maybe shortening the life of the LED, but I'm "old-school" and the rectifier was pretty affordable, and splicing it into the wires isn't exactly rocket science... So... I'm going to use it. I'm buried with other work right now, but as soon as I get the light up and running, I'll do a post, with the best pix I can take so viewers can make up their own minds. i look forward to that post. you will probably have yours installed before i get around to it. i'm still not certain if i am going with AC and now i have a new problem, my light switch is sticking. a co-worker walked up to me just as i was arriving to work yesterday. showed him my new tach and he started playing with my headlight switch and it got stuck on low beams (which do not work). i was a little annoyed as i would be driving home in the dark... i did finally get the switch to move before i went inside. so now i don't know if i can hook up my new light to this switch. once i get it apart i will check if it can be repaired. a separate switch for my leds is not a solution since i will need to shut off the stock headlights to conserve power. anyhow, enough ramblin...

howdy, did it come with the two way tape? where did you get it?. lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken yes, comes with 2-way tape. it is small, about the size of my thumb which actually works out perfect. doesn't take up too much space. supposedly it is water proof but if it gets damaged i will put the next one under the plastic. really only need it for tuning but it looks cool on the dashboard. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031BH2VA/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1i've seen cheaper tachs on ebay but this one looks/works gr8 imo. Just wandering what was your speed at 7580? And at 8150? the speedometer read 47mph @ 7580 and 52mph @ 8150... i'm not certain how accurate my speedo is. probably figure 5mph less is closer to actual speed.

I got some LED lights from Advance, 2 4inch lights, came with fuse/complete wiring harness. Got my wiring and grounds figured out, gonna try to install them tonight. So tired of these CRAPTASTIC BULBS screwing up One night I had to ride 15 miles back home at 12:30 out in the dark country roads with a small hand held led flash light..... I have to keep spare flashlights with me cause I never know when my lights are gonna crap out on me!!! good luck. i got my 27 watt led light a few days ago. hopefully i will find the time and motivation to attempt this mod sometime this week. i'm really not sure where to begin so it sits in the box. i've never done anything electrical before.

howdy, now if mine would just install itself---- lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken lol... it was actually easier than i would have thought. i used the 2-way tape, stuck it right under the fuel gauge. had to remove the front panel to feed the wire. some plastic is broke on my scoot so i was able to feed it the rest of the way without removing the panels below the floor board. wrapped it 5 times around the spark plug wire, secured it with electrical tape and Voilà.

Has nothing to do with this topic but I too "lost " my scooter the other night. I was seeing the movie Fruitvale Station and I parked at the parking deck, as far into the parking space as possilbe. I came outside after the movie and lost my bike for a moment. I got this sinking feeling when I walked up to a empty parking space where I thought I parked. I searched around a little bit, preparing myself that I may have been a victim of motorbike threft. Man, was I happy when I found the bike a lot over. On topic: I would guess you need to keep a step ladder in the back or something lol wow, i'm glad that story ended on a happy note. i SERIOUSLY got that dreaded sinking feeling when i read that first sentence. i don't want to read/hear about anyone losing their scoot... especially not you dom! step ladder would be my guess also.

it's been sitting in my desk draw for weeks. had i known how much easier it would be to tune my scooter i would have done it much sooner. i had no idea my idle was set too high (2300) and all this time i thought my rpm's were approaching 10,000 at WOT but it maxed out at 7580 until i went down a hill and hit 8150. that is a big relief for me. i was always hesitant to ride WOT for more than a mile when i thought i was over the redline. messed around with the carb a little and got my idle down to about 1800. seems to run a little smoother now. i'll never go without a tach again.

It was good while it lasted can't really expect something for nothing. You would think some forum members would be more than will to help with a couple of bucks to pay the hosting service $2.99 isn't even really a fee any more. You can't really even buy lunch for that amount anymore... yep... good attitude! you can't beat your slave masters so might as well give them more of your money and try to justify it while you're taking it up the ***. *face palm* where is the face palm smiley that is costing JR $36/year?
