So I'm almost embarassed to say this, but I don't have a lot of engine experience and everything that I'm doing to my new scooter is based off of this forum and YouTube videos, not experience of sound, smell, etc. That being said, help me properly learn the process for tuning my scoot! You'll see all the parts that I replaced in my signature, and I get my roller kit today. I've adjusted idle screws and a/f screw, etc. but what is the proper process, what am I looking for? I usually just make sure my idle is at 2000 rpm, but I know there is more to it than that. Please help! Eager to learn!

I think that is the best post I have ever seen on de-restricting. The tuning info is great too.

I'm all derestricted. I was thinking more along the lines of how to properly tune the throttle cable, idle speed screw, a/f screw, spark, etc. Rich vs lean, and all that jazz.

Eager to learn! Oh Paul, don't be embarrassed. Nobody judges against you on lack of experience. If they did, I'd be in big-dog troubles (check out my official title if you can't figure why) Your last sentence says the most. You're eager--and WILLING--to learn. That's all anyone can be. You'll get mounds of help here. Don't ever be too embarrassed to ask. And someday, you'll be posting answers to questions based on your personal experience. You just wait! >'Kat

You can tune a piano but you can't tune a fish. (or a scooter) Seriously, there is nothing to be ashamed of. All of us had to learn some time or another. Back when I was a kid working on small engines We didn't have forums. So I learned most of what I know by hanging around the lawn mower shop and asking a lot questions. I also spent a lot of time at the library. There are many posts on the knowledge you seek. The search button is a wonderful thing, but if you can't find what you are looking for feel free to ask. Roy
