if different roller weights don't help then the clutch torque spring is probably too stiff. i'm about 220 and my atm50 will go over 40.

i recently replaced the clutch, variator, roller weights and belt on my atm50. one of the pads on the old clutch broke in two which left the clutch constantly engaged. i spent the extra money for a gates belt but everything else i got generic parts off of ebay. before my clutch broke it would top out at 50mph on the speedometer. with the new parts i could only get to about 35mph. i tried 5, 6, 8 gram wieghts and finally put three 6gram, three 8gram. none of the roller weights changed top speed, just my takeoff speed. apparently the clutch springs have a big impact on performance.
i thought about changing the springs from my old clutch but just never got around to it... now that the new parts have some wear on them my top speed is approaching 50mph once again. (probably 43-45 actual, idk) i'm guessing my new clutch torque spring was too stiff. good luck with your project.

...then I would say your CDI is the problem. Alleyoop the CDI would be my guess also. my tachometer went crazy awhile ago similar to what you're experiencing. i had a spare CDI, replaced it and problem was solved.

holy smokes! i thought she was gonna hit that truck head on! scary vid. you wouldn't think it would be possible to nod off on a scooter with the wind rushing over your face but i have briefly nodded off once on my scoot. driving when you can barely keep your eye's open is probably equivalent to driving drunk. never again.

cool find! it even has an ocean level rise since 2000. i always wondered about that statistic. how much of it is melting ice? because you would expect a large percentage of that rising sea level to be caused by new ships entering the sea. i don't know... just a thought.

nevermind... i finally got it. doesn't look like loctite was used. it was just on very tight. threads seem fine. i used a tool to hold the variator in place after spraying with wd40 and letting it soak in. impact wrench took it off easy at that point.

is it possible to tell if red loctite was used? i bought a new 330ft/lb impact wrench and still can't get the variator off.
i've read acetone will loosen red loctite and that seems a safer alternative than using heat. anyone use acetone on red loctite and/or know how to tell if my variator nut is bonded with it?

[replyingto=jdmsoldier]jdmsoldier[/replyingto]a few months ago i laid my scoot down going about 35-40 mph. luckily landed on wet grass and walked away unscratched but my muscles took a week to heal. i can only imagine how much worse it would have been if i hit the pavement. since then i bought this jacket: www.motorcycle-superstore.com/5/15/152/46506/ITEM/Joe-Rocket-Velocity-Jacket.aspxthis jacket has great ventilation as long as you're moving. even on hot days i've been very comfortable. on the morning rides before the sun comes up, i actually am cold with the waterproof liner removed.

I did talk to Ice Bear today, can you say Major SCAM!!!!!!! Speaking only about the Ice Bear Products. She has never heard of these people nor has her Husband ( The Owner ). The Ice Bear factory does not directly sell to any other company in China. Also this company is NOT a dealer for Ice Bear in any way shape of form. To many major flags, esp Payment by Western Union or credit card and not shipping for up to 60 days later. That is too late for a dispute with Paypal or most credit cards. So there you have it buyer beware . i'll add this... domains-by-day.com/2013-08-28/mmmcoming.com-domain-name-data.htmlif i am understanding the info on that page then mmmcoming is located in Scottsdale, AZ. this site also tracks the IP address to the same location. save your money imo. www.statscrop.com/www/mmmcoming.com

99% of the members on here know what is pushing the envelope and what is not. There are plenty of topics not related to scooters that people can post and talk about that do not break the rules. It doesn't take a genius to know the difference between an acceptable and not acceptable topic and or video. It is really pretty simple, just like in a classroom there is always a few that just cannot fit in with the rest and one day you look around and they are no longer in the classroom. Aleppo no need for threats sir. if you don't want me here just wave your magic wand.

[replyingto=devo344a]devo344a[/replyingto]recently i crashed my scooter landing on grass at 40 mph. i was wearing a helmet and gloves... i walked away with no injuries... or so i thought. the following day i was in so much pain i didn't go back to work for a whole week. i hate to think how much worse it would have been had i hit the pavement. a protective jacket is next on my list of necessary equipment. your muscles may still take some time to heal but at least you won't suffer the pain of road rash.

i bought the same one awhile ago from the same seller. i don't think it is an actual Keihin, i believe it is a clone. (or perhaps they are manufacturing cheap parts now, idk) on mine, the throttle linkage was misaligned. i had to bend it to get the cable on. well you get what you pay for. it works but don't expect high quality.
