holy smokes! i thought she was gonna hit that truck head on! scary vid. you wouldn't think it would be possible to nod off on a scooter with the wind rushing over your face but i have briefly nodded off once on my scoot. driving when you can barely keep your eye's open is probably equivalent to driving drunk. never again.

Ouch!
Thank God she only kissed the side of the semi instead of meeting head-on! She's no spring-chicken, either. I can't judge... Last week, on my "new" vintage Kymco with its AMAZING windshield, I came to a stop-light and for a moment was SO comfortable and relaxed, I felt like I was driving my car. Almost forgot to put my feet down... Now THAT would be embarrassing... Getting old sucks. Ride safe, stay awake...Leo in Texas

It is actually worse than driving drunk. They had a 20/20, Nightline, etc on the topic of sleep deprivation and driving some years ago where they had a group of folks drive a course with fake bus stops, school patrol lines, puppies crossing the street etc and had everyone drive the course after they had for the past 6 months maybe 1 year been getting a full 8 hours sleep every night with everyone passing the test. After that they subjected som to various levels of sleep deprivation from an occasional loss to a more persistant one such as staying up for the late show and some the late late with others losing an occasional full nights sleep. At the end they had them all drive the course again and then interviewed each one on how the thought they did. They all claimed they did just as good as the first time however some were reduced to tears when they reviewed the video and saw themselves driving impared through the school lines, kids waiting at bus stops and running over the small animals. None of them had any recollection of even running over the group of fake children waiting at the bus stop. It was a real eye opener to the dangers of even losing a half hour of sleep on a regular basis.

But as they say Leo, getting old sure beats the alternative I'm NOT so sure about THAT...Where I'm planning to go when I come to the end of the road is even BETTER than TEXAS... And TEXAS is pretty dang nice! I don't think my future home will be quite as HOT as Texas, either... LOL! Leo in Texas (at least for the time being...)PS: Anyway, I'm pretty sure they have bikes in Heaven too... The Good Book says "David's Triumph could be heard throughout the land...".

I have fallen asleep a few times while driving my patrol car on night shifts, when I hadn't slept well. It is a scary experience! Could not imagine doing it on a bike!!!

Absolutely!
And, "it is written" that the Apostles "were all in one Accord"... So I guess they must have Hondas up there too... LOL! Over the decades, God has proven to me that He definitely has a sense of humor. He's got a serious side, but also has a VERY fun-loving side. I like that! C'mon now, it took a really developed sense of humor to, while creating such things as magnificent stallions, big jungle-cats and fashion-models, also take time to make the Platypus. And Koala-Bears. And Kangaroos... I do believe the "Man upstairs" was in a REALLY good mood when He populated the Outback of Australia! Yup!Leo PS: Ah, the good old Tempest... Haven't seen one of THEM for while! If I recall, they were the "ancestors" of the great GTO... But had a truly bizarre "front-engine, rear-transaxle" connected by a monster flex-cable drive. Weirdest thing of all was that it actually worked!
