this thread gave me flash backs to my first experience jumping a curb. it wasn't evel knievel style, more like an episode of jackass. scoot hit the curb and went left while i flew like superman... luckily landing in wet grass.
glad to hear your reflexes are still sharp enough to avoid months of recovery. ride safe my friend.

6. Replace the sorry excuse for a headlight ( i drive in the country, if i use low beam, i cant see more than 10 feet in front of me, if i use high beam, i cant see in the fields, thus the time i almost kissed a deer...) i learned just before i sold my atm50 that you can adjust the direction of that dimly lit beam. you will probably still want to replace but it will definitely make a difference until you have time to upgrade.

I'm diggin the drilled ABS disk system. if they are anything like the ones on my jonway then be cautious. i tested mine on wet pavement when i first got the scoot... they don't work, lol.

Alley, I hope it pours rain on you every day, all day. Stinker. naw, we entering the dry season. this is the best time of year to ride imo... if the roads weren't so crowded from all the snowbirds it would be perfect. Alley, i'm in Deerfield Beach enjoying the same weather as you.

hi Richard, somehow i missed this thread. only found it when i saw you added yourself to the map. i'm currently in deerfield beach, recently moved, no internet at my new place so i don't get online much.
since March i'm riding a 150cc jonway currently little over 10,000Km. this site has been an incredible resource to keep my scooter(s) on the road. had a 50cc TaoTao before that and got burned out tinkering with it. i haven't done much to my new 150cc. at this point i just want to do basic maintenance and clock some miles.

I'll have to do a long trip soon (around 200km), I was thinking on going on my air cooled Chinese 125cc GY6; is it possible or just a big NO? If possible, what should I take into consideration? What worries me the most is engine overheating, since the scooter is air cooled i'm no expert and haven't read through the thread yet but i believe if your carb is properly jetted then you can ride it till your bum gets too sore. i've gone on 100km trips recently with no problems other than a sore bottom.

There was one site that actually recommended taking all the plastics off and pretty much removing all the bolts, Loctite them, and re-install. Is that really necessary? Do people just guess at torque specs? Replace fuel line? Thanks a million. i read that also and thought the same. i still don't think it's necessary to remove all those bolts but i will tell you this... my scoot was super silent when i first got it but now it has a lot of vibration and rattles. didn't do anything except charge battery, change oil, gear oil and hooked up fuel line. didn't even replace that, i know i'm lazy and might pay the price later but i got nearly 10k miles so i'm not too disappointed yet. i did have to rejet the carb. that took a lot of tinkering but once i got that dialed in, it's been a great scooter. personally i think if you change the oil, gear oil and go the extra step and replace the fuel line then you should be fine. oh and make certain you aren't running lean (probably most important). if a few rattles are going to bother you later then spend a day with a wrench and loctite. that's my 2 cents. good luck and enjoy!

only things i can tell you is take good pictures, use "scooter" in your title and don't negotiate on the phone. i was told by someone much smarter than me to tell them "come take a look at it and i'll make you a good deal." (if they try to negotiate a price on the phone)
timing is everything. just keep bumping your ad to the front every few days and it will sell eventually.

Honestly I don't know what rollers are but I'll definitely research it after this post and see if I can do that tomorrow as well. Thanks guys! i would still take the time to clean/check the clutch when you get the cvt cover off but it sounds like the main problem is the rollers. should be an easy fix if you didn't lose/damage any.

impact wrench is going to make the job easy. i originally got a cheap one for $50 from harbor freight but wasn't strong enough for the job. took it back and they refunded my money no questions asked. (well, actually they asked me if anything was wrong with it. i told them it didn't have enough power.) later i bought a cordless for $150 from them and was planning on taking it back after i got the job done but that tool is so awesome i had to keep it. edit: now that i think about it... how did you get the variator off to change the belt? if you didn't reset the rollers then that could also be the rattling and slow acceleration problem.

yeah, you're gonna need to pull the clutch apart. you won't know the extent of the damage until you get it apart. could just need to be cleaned of any broken pieces of the belt or could have a broken pad and need to be replaced.
