Ya, I was looking at those Pirellis. They offer a 110/100 too. Those Shinkos are tempting though. I found one with a different tread pattern, still rated P, for only $32 I found some other info though, saying that you should never mix tires that have different speed ratings. I can't find any 120/ -10 tires rated P. yeah, think i paid close to $40 for 10" pirelli's. the 12" are probably $50+, they cost a little more and you'll have to replace them more often. i don't have them on my current scoot but on my last scoot the rear lasted about 5,000 miles on the SL 26. longer lasting tires are a plus if you ride often but you do give up a little traction. idk, check some reviews on the Shinko brand before you buy if you're not in a hurry to order.

if i'm not mistaken Shinko tires are very hard rubber. good for the life of the tread but not so good at gripping the road. someone can correct me if i'm wrong, i've only read that statement somewhere, no first hand experience with that brand. most here will tell you to get pirelli's. they are a much softer rubber so they wear faster but grip the road like glue. last time i bought tires i got mine from here: www.motorcycle-superstore.com/10979483/d/scooter-tires

That wasnt what I wanted to hear. LIE TO ME!!! =) i went through this when i bought a used scoot. mine had the screw but no locking nut... with the valve cover off use a flashlight and look down the shaft by the chain. if you can see it you can get it out with a small magnet on a long pole.

but it must be working because after 45 minutes charging the scooter battery, reconnecting the battery to scoot I had a feeble horn beep, BUT not enough to start the engine yet!! will probably take 4-5 hours on a charger and like alley said set it to 12 volts

i've read about people jumping their scoot from a car without the engine running.

Hey thanks alot. Any specific variator that you would recommend? Also with the larger diameter, will i need a different size belt? I went ahead an ordered a good quality Gates brand belt. I know most come with a junk belt that tends to slip. get a koso from tvnacman. i finally put one on my scoot a couple months ago. had i known how much better the 115mm variator performed over stock i would have bought it sooner. added about 7mph max speed and lowered rpms by nearly 2000 at 45 mph. easily the best mod you can do for a 150cc, imo.

much slower off the line than I think it should be however, and hills are awful. I get down to 10mph on the bike's gauge anytime I climb a hill. Also, it will not go above 6,000rpm while driving, so I think I need heavier weights and/or a stiffer spring. think you need lighter weights. you want it near 7,500rpm on take off (personally i prefer a little less around 7,200). if you know how many grams you have then my guess would be to reduce the rollers by 3 grams. so if you have 8gram rollers then get 5gram. someone correct me if i'm wrong, been awhile since i messed with my rollers but iicr 1 gram lighter increases rpms by 500. also it's a balancing act with the torque spring and roller weights, gl.

Good to know! I'll give it a try!! Do I get to that by simply removing the tire or do I have to go in from the tranny side? remove the exhaust and the tire. you may want to go ahead and buy better pads and save yourself the trouble of doing it twice though. i had the same problem on my last scoot, took it apart and lightly sanded. solved the problem for the moment but was squealing again in less than a week. just my 2 cents.

wow xyshannen, thats horrible. it doesn't take much speed to do some serious damage. 15 days since this happened and my knee is still not 100%. i think my injuries aren't as bad as you described but i am starting to wonder if i'm going to fully recover. i bought my helmet when i got my last scoot because i needed it by law, bought my protective jacket when i had an incident landing on grass, 2 weeks ago i bought knee pads.
Man am i dumb! probably should just get all the protective gear before you're injured. ya think? yeah, the knee can't take much... i was only traveling about 25 mph, was slowing for a turn so i'd estimate around that speed. a cheap pair of knee pads would have saved me a lot of pain and money.
i bought this scoot so i could get to work and now because of this scoot i've been out of work for 2 weeks. i don't know whats worse; my knee injury or the lost wages? spandi, those knee pads look great. i got a cheap pair from home depot and won't get on this death trap without them. it takes a long time to heal from even a slow speed incident.

we all know driving on wet roads can be dangerous. But did you know that some of those white painted lines are not paint after all? i found that out the hardway last week.
was slowing down to make a right hand turn and the moment my wheel came in contact with the wet plastic white line i was bouncing my helmet off the curb and banging my knee into the concrete. it happened so fast i didn't even think to react until i was already down. i managed to get home on the scoot but my knee took a beating and friday morning i couldn't get out of bed. was like that for 4 days, finally limping around 2 days ago. still have trouble putting all my weight on my right knee but it's getting better.
when did they start using plastic markers on the road? should be illegal to put any slippery substance on the road but whatever, over and done with. live and learn i guess. hopefully you guys can learn from my pain. (don't brake when you're on top of those plastic road markings, especially if it's wet)

you say it only happens after you ride at WOT for awhile, yes? my first thought would be the clutch. if the torque spring is wore out or broken the clutch pulley won't close to push the belt back out when you slow down.
i could be wrong but that is the first thing i would inspect.

I will need to learn how to tell the difference between the jets.... How/what do I measure to determine what one I have? they are engraved. i have to take a close up picture and blow it up on my PC to read them. my eyesight isn't perfect and the markings are tiny.

...So, In short, here's my question. If you put a an 83cc Big Bore kit on a stock 50cc moped, should you also change other parts such as the head, cam, carb and such?... they should have at least changed the jets and tuned the carb... sounds like they did neither or just did it wrong.
