Alright guys I'm the new guy so bare with me here. I just ordered a Beazer 150cc Ruckus Clone. I feel like it was a great deal All total I spent $989 shipped to the door with lift gate service and a one year warranty. I had a Tao Tao 50 and loved it. I will also mention that I am extremely mechanically inclined (not trying to toot my own horn). This is my first 150cc and brand new scoot. So here are some questions;
1. I am putting my performance exhaust and air filter on from my other scoot. What jet or carburetor is reccomended?
2. This kind of plays into the first question, but which cam is the best for perfomance/day to day riding? (I am looking at the A9 or A10, but open to advice)
3. Does anyone know if the motor mounts are the same as a Ruckus or not? I want to stretch and can fabricate, but honestly prefer to buy something bolt on.
4. What oil is recommended for my break in, how should i ride during that time, and how many miles?
On a side note, I will be adding the NGK plug and maintain my vehicles very well. Any and all advice, even on questions not listed would be extremely helpful and appreciated.

howdy and welcome to the forum. i can't help you with those questions except to suggest not to use synthetic oil for the break in. the exhaust is also a question because those are maybe specific to the engine or mounting .
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

I am putting my performance exhaust and air filter on from my other scoot. What jet or carburetor is reccomended? A. 112 to 115 main jet leave the pilot alone it should be a 24mm carb and they usually come with a #35. 2. This kind of plays into the first question, but which cam is the best for perfomance/day to day riding? (I am looking at the A9 or A10, but open to advice) A. All depends on what your looking for Top End High Rpms or more torquey on the bottom end. A9=High Rev Cam for top end, A10=More Troquey on the bottom end.
3. Does anyone know if the motor mounts are the same as a Ruckus or not? I want to stretch and can fabricate, but honestly prefer to buy something bolt on. A. All depends if both are the same size case measure yours and make sure the Ruckus measure the same.
4. What oil is recommended for my break in, how should i ride during that time, and how many miles? A. For the first 50 miles or so do not ride it at the same speed VARY the speed up and down for minutes at a time so the rings and parts wear in evenly. As far as break in oil any good 10w40 oil will do but no SYN oil.On a side note, I will be adding the NGK plug and maintain my vehicles very well. Any and all advice, even on questions not listed would be extremely helpful and appreciated. Think about a Performance Variator 115mm in diameter the OEM's are usually 107mm in diameter.

Hey thanks alot. Any specific variator that you would recommend? Also with the larger diameter, will i need a different size belt? I went ahead an ordered a good quality Gates brand belt. I know most come with a junk belt that tends to slip.

I know most come with a junk belt that tends to slip. get a koso from tvnacman. i finally put one on my scoot a couple months ago. had i known how much better the 115mm variator performed over stock i would have bought it sooner. added about 7mph max speed and lowered rpms by nearly 2000 at 45 mph. easily the best mod you can do for a 150cc, imo.

+10, on the KOSO variator and NO you do not need a larger belt. Alleyoop

Offutt0311,
First, WELCOME TO THE SITE! This is a GREAT place for you! Second, Alleyoop knows what he's talking about. Always gives good advice. I'm an old Harley guy, but Chinese scoots were totally "foreign" to me... Pun intended... LOL!
I rode and enjoyed a 2007 Xingyue Eagle 150 for nearly seven years, and it did most ALL the "things Chinese" that drive you nutz... Alleyoop's advice really helped me.
On my particular scoot, I used a Prodigy variator with good results, but there are many good ones out there. I also had to experiment a LOT with various weight rollers to get it right. I found with mine, that I had to mix two weights (3-each, staggered) to get it right. If I recall, 12-grams were too heavy, giving me a great top-end of around 62mph, but TERRIBLE hill-climbing and slow acceleration.
11-grams were WAY too light, giving me great acceleration, but a top-end of 45mph at a ridiculous rpm... So I mixed 3 each 11 and 12's for an 11.5-gram setup, and THAT was perfection! Great acceleration, good mid-range pull, and a top end of 60mph. From what I've heard from others, you might do better with SLIDERS instead of ROLLERS. They tend to REALLY fully-open and fully-close the halves of the variator, enhancing BOTH acceleration AND top-end.
Now all these scoots react differently, and your weight and other factors will determine your best overall setup, but you will probably need to do some experimenting.
After six years of "perfecting" my old 150, I finally traded it on a well-used Kymco 250... Only because local surface roads have been radically changed, and I absolutely NEEDED 70mph+ speed. I love my "new" old ride, but I also loved my Chinese 150... and most everybody is a sucker for a Ruckus-style!
Welcome, and RIDE SAFE!
