It's a 2008 Chaunl Longbo Adventure 150cc LE (LB150T-12) GY6, it has 2400 miles on it, I bought it at 1900 miles about a month ago. When first bought she dripped a couple drops of oil out of the air box, which has since been fixed (overfilled on oil), they removed the air filter as well probably due to it being soaked but I have since bought a new one. I've cleaned the spark plug, adjusted the air/fuel ratio, replaced a couple bulbs and just pretty much cleaned her up. She has been riding great for the past 2 weeks, roughly 45-48 on the odometer with me and my wife on it and honestly the same with just me but that's really all I need for the city. I took her out to lunch on Sunday and when riding home we felt a nice jerk and everything completely died, I pulled over and tried to start it up and it was a no go, we waited about 5 minutes and started it up and it sounded fine so we jumped on it and went absolutely no where ha. Everything sounded normal she revved up great but the wheel didn't budge even on center stand. I figured hey it's an older scoot probably just the belt. I left her in the autozone parking lot (my scooter) and came back today with a brand new gates kevlar belt, I opened it up and sure enough the belt was beat to... however I was able to confirm I had bought the correct belt size. I changed the belt and put it on center stand with the cover off the crankshaft case and revved her up and I could see the (I believe) clutch rattling really bad when first revving up (however the wheels were now spinning on centerstand). After giving it more throttle things would seem to tighten up and running smoothly (no more rattling) and wheels spinning fast. So I closed it back up thinking I had handled the problem and thought maybe the rattling was just due to no cover. I started it up (clutch still rattling badly) and it jerks bad and goes about 10MPH, I couldn't leave it at autozone so I thought f it and ride it home (no truck access) it turns out the clutch rattles horribly and it continues to jerk until it seems to catch and slowly but surely accelerates up to about 55-60MPH on the odometer with me on it. So the belt fixed my top end but in this whole situation it seems something malfunctioned in my clutch and now it has no low end until it just decides to catch itself (keep in mind only on FLATTTT ground) and accelerates normally and ridiculously smooth.
Sorry if that's too much info but I figure I'd like everyone know exactly what's going on so I can get some great input from all the vets to get this issue fixed and her back on the road.
Thanks again.. Jack

Fellow Longbo!! I have the same model, I've had a belt brake and a variator/clutch fan grind off. If its rattling I'd say take the belt off and pull the clutch off and check the splines on the inside where they attach to the shaft. Could be be grinding down.

yeah, you're gonna need to pull the clutch apart. you won't know the extent of the damage until you get it apart. could just need to be cleaned of any broken pieces of the belt or could have a broken pad and need to be replaced.

Thanks you guys for the quick responses. What kind of wrench will I need to get that off, I have a 17MM and ratchet but I'm pretty sure it will need like a impact wrench or torque wrench? Anyone know any main stream stores that sell them pretty cheaply? I'm new to scoots but honestly having a blast taking it apart and getting to know it better replacing these worn parts since I plan let make this a family ordeal, packing the streets with 5-6 scoots at once.

Impact is a great tool to have! I bought one from Harbor Freight that alligator clips right up to my battery. Not insane torque but its all you need when scooten repair. and its got a cool led light

impact wrench is going to make the job easy. i originally got a cheap one for $50 from harbor freight but wasn't strong enough for the job. took it back and they refunded my money no questions asked. (well, actually they asked me if anything was wrong with it. i told them it didn't have enough power.) later i bought a cordless for $150 from them and was planning on taking it back after i got the job done but that tool is so awesome i had to keep it. edit: now that i think about it... how did you get the variator off to change the belt? if you didn't reset the rollers then that could also be the rattling and slow acceleration problem.

Honestly I didn't take it off, I watched a video on youtube and simply just followed it and it slipped right on, no damage to the belt. (Man that sounds stupid lol but it's how I've fixed a few problems so far). I am going to harbor store tomorrow to pick up the a wrench just got off the phone with them. I'll take it off tomorrow and take a look at what is going on and update.
Honestly I don't know what rollers are but I'll definitely research it after this post and see if I can do that tomorrow as well.
Thanks guys!

Thanks guys! i would still take the time to clean/check the clutch when you get the cvt cover off but it sounds like the main problem is the rollers. should be an easy fix if you didn't lose/damage any.

You might want to check the variator to make sure the rollers didn't get turned out of place. That happens sometimes when a belt breaks suddenly.
Harbor Freight has a good plug in impact tool. They sometimes put coupons out for it a $39.99. I've got one and it works great on the clutch and the variator.
This will give you some insight into the rollers:

So I got into it today and began examining the problem.
When I start the bike in its current state it starts bogs and shuts down, if i start it and give it throttle, the clutch still knocks but it does idle normally, while idling you can hear the knocking of the clutch (after holding my hand on the bell while idling it seems like it is coming from a rotating piece in the clutch bell). Another analysis is that it seems when the bike is on and I rev up the engine on center stand the belt is staying in one spot on the variator and clutch, it seems like neither are opening and closing as it should, also when I turn off the bike the belt sits about halfway into the clutch and the clutch stays open about halfway instead of closing and pushing the belt to the top. What I think may of happened was when my belt broke at high speed so suddenly it must've locked the clutch somehow into a higher gear which may explain why I can't take off for sh... but once I give her a minute at 5-10MPH she takes off and hauls...
I planned on buying a impact wrench today but was unable due something coming up so I tried my own little operation to get the clutch off unsuccessfully, I didn't want to take a chance of stripping the bolt so I gave up and said I'll wait for a impact wrench. Also will I need anything to hold the bell while using the impact wrench on it or can I just use my hand, likewise for the variator?
Again any comments and input helps, I'll continue posting updates just in case someone runs into this in the future!

Yeah something in your clutch is fubared. You are going to have to pull it off. I'm guessing on top of what ever is wrong with the clutch you may have some shredded belt stuck in the pulley sleeve preventing it from functioning properly. No need to hold your bell or variator when using the impact. That bolt should spin right off.

I got a nice used 1/2" air impact wrench on ebay for under $10 and a manual tool for holding the variator and clutch, to take on the road, for under $20. I also saw a video where someone used a rubber belt wrench to hold the variator instead of the manual tool.

arbSolved.
5 rollers were on their sides and 1 was in place however all of them were jacked up!
replaced and cleaned everything up with a cloth. btw everyone Harbor Freight has a 12V emergency impact wrench set for 20 bucks... 21.50 or so, it hooks up to our scooter battery or a car cigarette outlet. It got the variator off in 2 tugs.. was a beautiful thing..
running perfectly, thank you all! your help won this one!
