Ok, so my new scooter was delivered yesterday. Un crated it and it appears to have made the trip damage free. So many searches have turned up a lot of recommendations but I really haven't found a list in one place. That's what I'm hoping someone here can lead me to. There was one site that actually recommended taking all the plastics off and pretty much removing all the bolts, Loctite them, and re-install. Is that really necessary? Do people just guess at torque specs? Replace fuel line? Thanks a million.

Do people just guess at torque specs? Replace fuel line? Thanks a million. i read that also and thought the same. i still don't think it's necessary to remove all those bolts but i will tell you this... my scoot was super silent when i first got it but now it has a lot of vibration and rattles. didn't do anything except charge battery, change oil, gear oil and hooked up fuel line. didn't even replace that, i know i'm lazy and might pay the price later but i got nearly 10k miles so i'm not too disappointed yet. i did have to rejet the carb. that took a lot of tinkering but once i got that dialed in, it's been a great scooter. personally i think if you change the oil, gear oil and go the extra step and replace the fuel line then you should be fine. oh and make certain you aren't running lean (probably most important). if a few rattles are going to bother you later then spend a day with a wrench and loctite. that's my 2 cents. good luck and enjoy!

I didn't do anything to my scoot either when it first arrived. Well, I pushed and pulled and banged on it a little to check for loose things and rattles. Didn't find any. So I just rode it and changed the oil at the recommended 300 miles. I stay in-tune with the bike listening and feeling for things when I'm riding it. Anything different with the feel or sounds it makes and I'm all over it. 2,100 miles so far and running like a dream...

A full PDI does include removing all bolts and loctiting them. However, that is somewhat extreme. I personally check all nuts/bolts and wire connections, change all fluids, and replace any flimsy air, fuel, and other hoses.

Wow how long would it take to do get to, and tighten, every fastener on a scooter? BTW when I got my scooter, used with "only 300 miles on it" (probably more like 3000 or more), I had several loose bolts in the engine/suspension area. Then again, I believe it had been worked on before by flying monkeys.
