u STILL don't have a spark, then throw the scooter out a window. proly not good advice but that is certainly how some of us feel about our broken down rides.

i'm a little confused how you checked compression with thumb and spark if the starter isn't functioning. normally the first thing i would check if i had no spark is the cdi. the burnt wires near the solenoid should be fixed first. i'm not very knowledgeable with electrical circuits but i would replace the burnt wires and make sure you have a good ground. seems like you have multiple issues

did you park it for few minutes to get the heart back in rhythm?

it's possible it doesn't connect to anything. my old atm50 had one of those phantom connectors and wondered the same thing. doing a little research i read that many factory's use a generic wire harness and some unused connectors could have been for options your scooter doesn't have. such as an alarm or whatever... anyhow, just saying don't sweat it too much if you can't find the other end.
did you check the fuse? i had a loose fuse awhile ago that killed all power to my starter but i could still kick start.

so when is it necessary to replace that metal mesh oil filter? should be good for the life of the scoot. really isn't much of a filter which is why they recommend oil change every 1000km. some won't even go that long. regular oil changes is the most important for long engine life imo.

wire gauge?

lol lain... i've been zapped half a dozen times by those football players. once unplugging a tv, once starting a lawnmower, working on a car and a few other times touching equipment at work. the last time i got zapped by a stainless steel refrigerator. the cord had exposed wires sending current throughout the whole unit. that one sent me to the ground with my heart fluttering.
needless to say i'm a bit paranoid of those football players. and you are correct, those wires were 10 gauge on my scoot.

if i'm not mistaken geh3333 has ncy bbk along with many other mods reaching 67mph. i think he had to change the gears to get that speed. you might consider doing the gears first. i'd get some info from him or another member before you order any parts.
most problems with any bbk is caused by improper installation or running lean. imo as long as you properly install, rejet the carb and break the engine in then you shouldn't have any problems. oh, and don't forget oil changes/level.

Hey, nice! I never noticed that one. On my scoot, it is on the underside near the center stand. My scoot also has a plate riveted to the fan shroud that give the engine info. yeah, it's right by the center stand. on his scoot the center stand and kick start are in same position

your engine code is located near the kick start (below) 157QMJ is the code of that engine. spark plug; i use NGK CR7HIX, you can go with CR7HSA if you want to save a few bucks. idle up solenoid; i had to search this. if you're having idle problems refer to alleyoop's carb tuning threads. itistheride.boards.net/thread/12/4ts-carb-tuning

some shocks are nonadjustable, i'd have to see pics to be certain. check tire pressure, over inflated tires will also give a stiff ride. rear should be at 33psi when cold.

so the battery to the solenoid is actually 12 gauge, which according to the amps/volt/gauge chart is right on. I had a spare positive wire to the starter from when I replaced my starter, it appears to be 16 gauge. I replaced those wires and it starts up with minimal effort. I literally don't have enough time to take my hand off the starter button before it starts if I try to tap the starter button now. i'm new to electrical work... with that said the wire to the solenoid appears to be 8 gauge (maybe 6) on my scoot. i couldn't find any markings.

wire gauge?

looks like a bad ground is causing my problem. 3 wires connect to the frame and all 3 look and feel a bit crispy. i bought the wrong wire when i got a ride to the store earlier. i couldn't find any markings on any wire. they appear to be 6 or 8 gauge. i bought 12 gauge wire, not going to risk doing this again so just gonna wait till i can get back to the store.
