My son gets mad at me when he visits because I make him wear jeans, helmet and glasses. I tell him "son, don't be dumb like your dad". He realized what I was talking about after he saw a spring breaker go down pretty hard. After seeing some of the nuts on scooters and cars I don't ride down to the end of the beach much anymore. I like my little part of the beach where traffic stays the same all year (slow and not much of it). I find myself staying in the neighborhoods a lot more then I use to. Safer that way.

One thing worth mentioning is the Harley family in the '60's, that only partially exists now. If you rode a Harley then, you were automatically included. You did not find too many Doctors and Dentists as weekenders in those days. My dad had a lot out back of his shop. Those that made it to town in the '60s needing Harley repairs, but had no money were free to camp and fix. He had a pile of used, but still usable parts if you couldn't afford to really fix your machine. He would provide a canvas tarp and tools.... sometimes parts and beer, depending on if he liked you or not. Everybody ate, no question of that. There was a cookout every night in the summer. He did a lot of 200 mile repairs..... "This will get you 200 miles, if you push it to 201, you are going to mess up that {insert relevant part here}". You will never see that at a dealership. We were about 5 miles off Hwy 66 in the Panhandle of Texas. The next town that had parts was..... no place near. Those days seem long gone. It's rare to find someone like that now days. Some here seem to have that mentality of sorts. The willingness to share ideas and knowledge is about as close as some of us can get. I know if not for the forum community I wouldn't know nearly as much as I do about my scooter.

I'm very interested in how this turns out. Post pics of before and after if you lower it please. I've thought about doing this but want to get some other things done first.

Tire size

Agreed. Size of the tire is not as important as the brand. A good brand tire will make the scooter handle a lot better. I found this out when I replaced the Chinese stock tires with Pirelli. You could squeeze the OEM China tire like it was made of foam rubber, whereas the Pirelli was like squeezing a block of oak. (I did go with a wider rear tire though and have had no cause to regret it) I have 3.0-10s now. I'll be getting a nice set of 3.5-10s this summer. I'm feeling ok with that small size difference because it's a common swap in size.

Let me rephrase that. When I go down it's going to be bad.

I'll get hammered for my answer but here it is. Nothing. No gloves, helmet, eye wear or anything like others use. Most of the time I'm just in a pair of shorts tennis shoes and a t shirt. Yes I know if I go down it's going to be bad.

If I was in one it would have to be a small one. Anything over ten and you have issues as already stated.

Since it's someone you know then it wouldn't hurt giving a discount though.

I live in north Florida and I could get 500 all day long for a scooter with a 50mm bbk. I've gotten that much for a older stock scooter. probably true, scooters seem to hold their value in this state and i don't think you can buy a new atm50 for less than $795 here. who wants new anyway? better to have all the bugs worked out but mine isn't in great shape... but don't tell her that, she just keeps going and going. You wouldn't think they would hold value as much as they do considering how many we have here for sale new and used.

This topic could get very interesting. Since you have the 50cc and the 150cc seperated in category if would suggest doing 50cc in its own class because in many states they are viewed as a moped/scooter. I could also see lumping the 50ccs with the 150ccs because they share the same frame and body by a lot of companies.

I did the helix search and it pulled up a super nice naked yellow one. It looked like they did a pretty go amount of cutting and welding for that look though.
