Are you a member of a scooter club?

I was, but there were too many undisciplined riders in it for me to feel safe and comfortable riding with them.

Same experience as nulldevice. Someone gets hurt every ride. It was fun for a couple of runs, but the group mentality is not a good thing for safe riding. After the cops started showing up at the rides, I dropped out.

If I was in one it would have to be a small one. Anything over ten and you have issues as already stated.

Not a scooter club, but I ride my sport/cruiser with a motorcycle group. They have been around for years, but only have 25 members, myself included. I joined them two months ago and have been on a few rides with them, and have only actually met maybe 12 members. They are invitation only, and most of them are riding big cruisers. You ride with them and they decide if your control and abilities fit with their agenda, which is just to do long rides. Typically, they ride 200 to 300 mile day trips, and sometimes longer multiday trips to restaurants, turn around and come back. No hot roding, rebel rousing or excessive drinking. Most of them are in the over 40 age group and have been riding for years. There have been a couple of sports bikes in the mix, but I'm the only sport/cruiser, so I might mix with one style of riding on the way out, and then the other group on the way back. Really just a loose group of folks who like to ride. Mostly though, I prefer to ride alone, or with just one other. It lets me stop and spend some time on my own without holding anyone up.

Once people start breaking traffic laws in mass, I am out of there. One must be responsible for themselves. Giving in to group think is way to G. Orwell 1984 for me.

Two to 6 riders is a nice group. I have my scooter carrier for my pickup, so I can meet friends to ride where they are. I meet with friends at the beach on occasion. We always have fun. Big groups, not as fun.

I ride with two clubs every week. One rides tuesday night and Saturday mornings and the other sunday morning. From time to time we need to ask a rider to leave but that's the exception not the rule.
Problems occur when a group rides with no true "group leaders". Sure we get newbees who are clueless how to ride as a group. We assign a rider who knows the ropes to that scoot and teach through example. Haven't had a fall or the cops in years.

What constitutes "Active member"? I'm a member of a club in Ann Arbor Michigan but haven't gone on a ride with them for about 2 years now. And I'm a member of a scooter club in New York. (and I have a club pin too) I haven't gone on any rides with them yet, but I currently do post on their forum. I'm with the Maxi-Scoots.com and fairly regularly post messages, and I do go to yearly gatherings for camping/riding. I'm also signed up with a couple motocamping groups. Mostly motorcycles, but a few scooters too. And I do go camping with those folks as well... but not yet this year. Still waiting for more sunshine and snow to melt. Wouldn't exactly call that a scooter club then.. oh well.. So I'll have to say yes to the original question.

Bandito2, don't know if you are getting older as I am. It is good to keep in touch in case you do want to ride. The forums are invaluable, but you know that. I hear you 100% Hey if you ever need a rider to transport an extra scooter, the local club is a good place to post a request. Craig's list is half crooks......

Just joined the Southern Cruisers recently...now that I have a scoot that will keep up (my Qlink will not), I hope to do LOTS of riding.
