I found a service and maintenance manual for the QMB 139 (GY) engine and transmission .it has 118 pages of complete information and pictures .Came on a CD and I downloaded it to paper for the garage. Spent 3 hours running it off. Also found a way to remove and replace belt without removing the driving belt device and starting transmission pulley I imagine most of you fellows know how this is done but it was news to me and makes the replacement of the belt very simple if it works. I removed the crankcase cover and got the belt size for replacement. Took a short ride to get the mail but it is still too cold to much riding.

I replaced the bolts that hold the seat on. Yesterday I replaced the valve stem n the front tire without having to remove it from the trike ,took about 40 minutes . I checked the tires and added air. Then I took it out for a trial and am now trying to check to see if my tech is reading correctly .

Hi Al Last week you said "why not keep it/" Well it got me thinking and so I am going to keep it at least for a while . In that case I would like to squeeze about another 3 or 4 mph out of the motor .Over all the scoot runs good ,have a new carburetor so I am able to adjust the gas to air ratio and I have the idle running between 1500 and 1550. As others have said I lose speed going up small hills or incline and that's OK .Usually slow down to 30mph thereabouts. The highest I can get on level ground is about 46 mph .I would like to get to 50 mph.or am I expecting too much? I don't want to do any extensive work on it as it is OK for my use now but 50 on the road would be better. I also don't want to overload the motor and cause other problems .This motor is a 139QMB if that makes a difference. I know you and I have gone over this speed thing before but I thought I would give it another try. OH yes I replaced the valve stem yesterday on the front wheel without taking the wheel off .I used a 4 inch clamp ,a couple of short pcs of 1/4 inch wood and broke the seal and gave me enough space to remove the old valve stem and replace it with a American type .The process worked good and It took all of maybe 30 minutes. Sure beat removing the brake and speedo cable and shaft ! If you think I should leave well enough alone ,let me know OK . Sounds like you had a good Christmas too. Thanks Al Verne

The 1500 rpm torque spring will shred a cheap belt in a few miles I bought a Jerry baker cheapie belt ran it with a 1500 rpm spring chewed it up in 50 miles Hey guys -I am thinking of getting a spare belt ,just in case as I have the original Chinese on now . Is the only way to get the number of the belt is to take the cover of the variator ? I had it partially off once but I didn't have a pair of pliers to remove the split washer behind the kick starter arm .I hate to go to all that trouble again if there is a better way of getting the part number. I have a 50cc three wheeler called Q6 . Thanks

As a suggestion, why don't the individuals with a problem like we have been reading about use the PM and keep the forum clear of this kind of discourse until the problem has been successfully agreed to by both parties? Life is short guys , after all IT IS IN THE RIDE !

I have encountered this same issue from time to time. If you can, locate the cable that runs from the ignition switch to the seat latch/locking mechanism. Grab the outer housing of this cable as close to the seat latch/lock as you can. Try pulling with a steady pull until the latch unlocks. If that didn't work then pull on the cable housing very firmly and have someone try to unlock the seat with the key at the ignition. If that does not work, pull on the cable until there is no slack then make a short, quick jerk. I have found that the issue is that the latch has a flimsy arm holding the cable housing that does not allow for the inner cable to release the locking mechanism properly with enough travel provided by the turning key. This can be complicated with seats that have a double latch/locking mechanism. If you haven't got the seat open yet try this. I have had the same problem .take off trunk and any other plate er trunk. there should be two small bolts about two inches apart, These hold on the lock mechanism . Take off the nuts ,careful not to drop the nuts below and you should be able to hold the lock mechanism and try and see if you have a cable wire in the area beneath the lock . Now look along the right side of the scoot near where you are working and try and locate a wire cable in possibly black tubing .IF you can hold on to that cable. CUT the wire inside the black housing and then with a small screwdriver or some kind of small bar. you can move the bar around in the mechanism and pop the lock and lift the seat up. Then you take the cable and move it across the area and attach it to any piece of solid metal with a tie. Don't let the wire inside the cable get back in the black part. you then can then attach the black outside tubing to some solid part and put a small piece to use as a handle on the inner wire.. All you do now pull the inner wire and the lock mechanism will open It takes a little time to figure it out but ,it will work for you as trying to make the original type of lock is impossible on some scoots. You can take the end of the cable with the handle on it and slip it under the body and it will be invisible to all but you.

Windows 8

Just got a laptop to replace my old one. It has windows 8. I heard a lot of hate for 8, but it's not too bad so far. Only thing that gets annoying, at least with my laptop, is the touchpad because basically the whole border of it involves some sort of touch action that is easy to do accidentally---opening sidebars, apps... I like the whole concept of it, though. Still plan on getting a pretty decent desktop in the future. Got a good table top set up .Remote keyboard, mouse large monitor, two speakers , computer desk and chair. All newer but shipping may be a problem.

It doesn't matter which material. Regular PVC is good enough for speeds up to 45MPH. Not a lot of speed difference with or without screen prodigit is right , PCV is good enough ,it doesn't hurt the speed all that much and sure keeps the cold wind off you face and body.

I have been looking at the Slipstreamer brand, twice as expensive as the universal one ScrapyDog's carries, but also in various sizes. I was thinking either model 30 or 40 would be good for a small scooter: slipstreamer scooter windshieldFrom what I've viewed on one YouTube instructional video, you want the windshield come up to just below your eyes. What do you think, higher to force all wind above your head, lower to prevent too much drag? And how about venting, I've seen discussion in my searches that mentioned a "V" shaped vent in the lower portion of the windshield can help with airflow, anyone here have a vented windshield on the scooter or motorcycle? The wndshield I have on mine came with my scoot and it is tinted and about the width of the area of the handle bar less the padded handles and is kind of curved near the top so the wind hits the shield and is direct up and over my head, These seem pretty expensive to me .I figured about 35 -40 dollars I could be wrong though. Doesn't the dealer of your scoot carry any windshields? If yo take some rough measurements to give to who ever you decide to buy from they should be able to give you information on which kind is best. Mine is only about 18 -23 inches above the handle bars and it woks good for me. Thos price seem high though. They are only a piece of plastic and a few screws and such .
