Hi Al Last week you said "why not keep it/" Well it got me thinking and so I am going to keep it at least for a while .
In that case I would like to squeeze about another 3 or 4 mph out of the motor .Over all the scoot runs good ,have a new carburetor so I am able to adjust the gas to air ratio and I have the idle running between 1500 and 1550.
As others have said I lose speed going up small hills or incline and that's OK .Usually slow down to 30mph thereabouts. The highest I can get on level ground is about 46 mph .I would like to get to 50 mph.or am I expecting too much?
I don't want to do any extensive work on it as it is OK for my use now but 50 on the road would be better. I also don't want to overload the motor and cause other problems .This motor is a 139QMB if that makes a difference.
I know you and I have gone over this speed thing before but I thought I would give it another try.
OH yes I replaced the valve stem yesterday on the front wheel without taking the wheel off .I used a 4 inch clamp ,a couple of short pcs of 1/4 inch
wood and broke the seal and gave me enough space to remove the old valve stem and replace it with a American type .The process worked good and It took all of maybe 30 minutes. Sure beat removing the brake and speedo cable and shaft !
If you think I should leave well enough alone ,let me know OK . Sounds like you had a good Christmas too.
