My issues are bad weather and my center kickstand arm is too small making it tough to lift up. The air filter box and the manual kick start arm get in the way.

Hi all. Any of you geniuses have any advice on removing and replacing my carb ? I am one of the lucky ones that got a scoot with a carb that has the fuel ratio fuel screw SEALED so it can not be adjusted with out drilling out the metal seal the manufacturer covered up the screw with.I understand that it can be drilled out ,but to do that ,the carb has to be removed, and then I hear that the screw may NOT have a slot in it to adjust with. So I ordered a new carb and I don't want to screw it up on instillation. I did read on You Tube that you needed to remove the air filter box.Is that correct? My carb is right on top of the engine except for the air intake tube ,there shouldn't be much of a problem. My only concern is removing the throttle control and resetting it correctly. I just thought there may be a correct way of reconnecting the control unit without too much trouble . OH yes this is the Chinese scoot 50cc I have been working of for the last few months ,It runs great except I think it does need a tweak on the fuel ratio .Kind of misses when I first start it ,hence adjust the fuel ratio screw . Am I thinking right? thanks Attachments:

[replyingto=nate7504]nate7504[/replyingto]I lived n Wisc when most of you people were very young ,and I see the weather hasn't changed in 60 years . We use to say two seasons ,hot and cold I now live in one of the wettest states in the country ! We had hail yesterday morning and sunshine 5 hours later . It's a rough life wherever you are.

I mentioned before about the lift peddle arm on my scoot. Boy Lt's sure giving me a problem. It isn't that I can't pop the scoot on to it's stand, but the darned peddle is so small that my foot doesn't have enough space to get a good bump. The kick start is in the way ,and the stand peddle is also very close to the frame. Hasn't anyone had this problem . I haven't had time to try and work out a fix,but so far the only thing I think might work is to weld or bolt a larger plate on top of the original one. This pedal is a solid forged piece ,so I cant remove any of it and replace it . I think the thing was designed by a little guy with small feet . This thing is really small ! Any practical ideas will be welcome at this point. Thanks !! Attachments:

Thank you my friend .I will try your suggestion tomorrow. My carb is like the one with the round black cap on the left rear and the fuel ratio screw is on the left side below the air fuel to engine. I take it that these adjustments on the fuel mix can be done on a cold engine ? If this adjustment works then I can make any final small adjustments after the motor heats up ? I am referring to idle speed adjustment . I will let you know the results. And I thought car motors were a pain sometimes Verne

First time new scoot, will start but as soon as I give it gas it dies .Have change vac lines ,gas lines ,and spark plug . It cranks over fast and will catch then will die when given gas .I did notice a bubble in the gas line and on one attempt to start ,there was some action in the gas line and what looked like possibly air went up gas line into the tank ,but on starts since then, motor will start then die when given gas.Gas line has filter in line between tank and carb. No fuel pump just down flow. 50cc motor.By the way which end of fuel filter is up ,the large end with the yellow filter material in it or the clear end?Right now the large end is up. A little advice would be helpful Thanks

On a similiar subject. Which way should the fuel filter be installed. Filter to the top and empty space to bottom or filter material to the bottom?

As a point of information. --- What are they pros and cons with a trike . And as a 50cc doesn't need a motorcycle attachment ,is it worth the investment ? I am talking Chinese tykes. It would still have to be under 35 MPH in my state to be considered as a moped . Would it be OK in moderate traffic? They do sound interesting to me !

Thanks for the info guys ! My problem is that the peddle arm is small and close to the frame and when I push down on it my foot hits the kick start pedal . I guess I will just have to work with it . Maybe add a larger piece to the foot part of the stand . Nothing is perfect in this world ,I guess !!!

I have a thought ,need a answer ! 49.5 cc There was a question about putting the scoot on the center kickstand last week and I also have a problem getting it in place .I went and checked the stand on my scoot and with a close look ,I see that the arm that you stand on is pretty small in protruding out. When I put my foot on it to push it down ,my foot hits the kick starter ,thereby taking some of the lift force from the kick stand . When the stand is down ,the lift arm on my scoot seems short and close to the frame. Are these stands generic? And would it be possible to get one with a longer extension that my foot stands on to push. The kick lever on mine is one piece of iron,it is a forging and part of the overall stand unit so I can't just add a section. Is it possible to find a stand from a different manufacturer that I could replace the existing stand? Any suggestions ? Attachments:
