First time new scoot, will start but as soon as I give it gas it dies .Have change vac lines ,gas lines ,and spark plug . It cranks over fast and will catch then will die when given gas .I did notice a bubble in the gas line and on one attempt to start ,there was some action in the gas line and what looked like possibly air went up gas line into the tank ,but on starts since then, motor will start then die when given gas.Gas line has filter in line between tank and carb. No fuel pump just down flow. 50cc motor.By the way which end of fuel filter is up ,the large end with the yellow filter material in it or the clear end?Right now the large end is up. A little advice would be helpful Thanks

Sounds like the gas flow. There has to be air going into the fuel tank or the gas can't leave. That may be the bubble action you are seeing.
There is vent on the tank somewhere. Some actually have a float, an air pump, and are hooked to carbon filter, and then going into the air filter. I had a scooter with all that on there, and I got rid of it because Texas doesn't care. My other scooters just have a tube coming off of it.
But if that is clogged in any way, it would be like turning over a bottle of water and letting it pour out. The water gurgles as it comes out. But if you poke a hole in the bottle, the water flows smoothly.
Try running the scooter with gas cap off and see if it still does it.

The clear end of the FUEL FILTER connects to the GAS LINE From the tank or PETCOCK. You want the gas to be sucked through the filter then out to the carb. When it gets dirty you will see the outside of the filter turning black(pieces from inside the hose most likely). In other words the bigger end that the filter inside is attached to goes toward the carb. Try richening the fuel ratio screw tuen it COUNTER CLOCKWISE give it 1 full turn see if that helps it. Most of the time they set the carbs to run really lean for emissions and it could be set to LEAN for it to run in the current colder temps. Or you can start it up let it get nice and hot and adjust your carb: Go read this and or copy it and follow the procedure to adjust your carb right. itistheride.boards.net/index.cgi?board=tt&action=display&thread=12 Alleyoop

Thank you my friend .I will try your suggestion tomorrow. My carb is like the one with the round black cap on the left rear and the fuel ratio screw is on the left side below the air fuel to engine. I take it that these adjustments on the fuel mix can be done on a cold engine ? If this adjustment works then I can make any final small adjustments after the motor heats up ? I am referring to idle speed adjustment . I will let you know the results. And I thought car motors were a pain sometimes Verne
