I discovered the Maxam3000 after seeing a Morphous for sale and falling in love. After drooling over the Maxam for awhile, the Morphous looked more blah when I went back to it but I'm quickly warming up to it again. I've been trying out this riding position on the highway. I lean against the passenger backrest. My legs are plenty long enough to also sit on the passenger seat but then I'm too high I'd like to figure out how to stretch my legs out forward, similar to highway pegs on a bike.

There is a drain hose, that run from the bottom of the carb, to drain the bowl. It will not be attached to anything. t84a is suggesting you may have a bad gas cap. Make sure air can flow through your gas cap vent holes. Oh! I thought it was a joke. Thanks guys.

I happened to stumble across 3 bags containing vacuum hoses. I must have bought them when I got the car, 9 years ago. It turns out they're all the same size & all smaller than the hoses on my scooter. I found 3 different size hoses. I sliced a piece off the end of each & bought 2 feet of each size & some extra clips. The "hose" I was describing yesterday actually turned out to be the spark plug wire. lol My hoses all look pretty new, so I don't know if this is gonna help. Someone also replaced a lot of bolts on this scooter with stainless bolts. I like that and hope to finish the job.
I'm gonna start tearing down the scooter before changing the hoses. Maybe I'll discover an obvious problem. That reminds me, I did see one short hose coming out of the carb that's attached to nothing. Is that normal. I'll get a photo.
I checked the taillight when the motor died today and it was still ON. I think I may have also partially blown out the muffler or gasket. The scooter sounds louder.

Been working on my seat a bit lately. I've added a very luxurious full wool on sheep skin. I love that stuff. I used to have some skins. My guitar strap is lined with it. Best cushion ever. Shame you have to cover up your beautiful leather work. Looking forward to seeing what kind of seat you can make with oil tanned leather.

Replace those hoses one at a time. One end off, push on new hose, follow old hose to next joint, pull off, cut new hose to length, push new hose on. Repeat. Sudden cut offs are usually electrical. Not always, of course, but often. A CDI can do this internally, and no amount of wiggling of wires will help. I think you can buy a new CDI cheap enough that it might be worthwhile to just do it. Don't waste your money on "performance" CDI's. Once I had a scooter that cut off like that and it was a loose connection at the coil. Another time it was a bad connection between the spark plug wire and the cap over the plug. When the engine stalls, does the rear tail light stay on? If not, it might be the ignition key has a loose connection or the switch is dirty or bad. If the tail light is on, the ignition switch is OK. Keep searching. Honda CH250 AC fired CDI Standard replacement CDI for the CH250 scooter. This is an AC fired CDI box and will fit others as well. Works with many years Honda Helix and CN250. $9. Is that it? I see a similar looking unit on eBay but it says for '86 & '87. I have an '06. A search for Helix CDI on bikebandit came up blank. I'll check the rear light next time it dies. I'll follow your plan with the hoses, to avoid getting them hooked up wrong. Thank you.

3/16 , I use 1/4 and hose clamps . John I've been searching for info on vacuum hose sizes. I remembered reading this response & am glad that I found it again. I don't have a GY6, I have a 250cc (244cc actual, I think?) Do you know if the 1/4 & clamps will also work for my engine?

Didn't put them into the last tire I purchased, thought I would try running without them....see if I get any strange vibs, or bouncing......400+ miles, and so far so good. I think most motorcycle tires are made to tighter tolerances than typical car tires? I guess because a blowout can tend to be more fatal on a bike. Probably more of a chance that they'll be close to balanced than with a car tire. I'll probably give the beads a try. As rockynv points out, repair patches could affect performance and if you spray any kind of goo in your tire, the beads become useless & you'll have to add weights.

I don't know much about scooters but that sounds a little like a fuel pump failure, possibly due to a vacuum leak. I'd clean the carb and the fuel pump and replace all the vacuum and fuel lines unless you can pinpoint the problem first. Lines are fairly cheap and having new ones is nice. Of course make sure your spark plug boot is on tight and that all of your connectors are tight. Ya, I was gazing at the engine after the ride and noticed a hose that seemed kinda sloppy. I'll round up some vacuum hose & swap it out. Seems like a job I can handle. Thanks!

I'm still trying to sell my car after a deal fell through. I'm thinking about taking an offer for some cash & a Jeep Cherokee. It would be interesting to then see what I can trade the Jeep for. It seems to be a popular model. I figure it's worth about $1000 or a little more. I guess the trick is to find someone with something, almost anything, worth $2000 who is bored with it but who really, really wants a Jeep? Has anyone here ever done a string of trades? Were you able to trade up?

I turned in my car plates today. First time on blacktop since I registered my scoot. Until now, I've been riding around the dirt roads in my neighborhood & even on sandy trails.
It got up to 60 pretty fast. Engine died after 4.5 miles at 55mph. Started right up. I drove another 6.5 before the next mini-death at about 3mph. 5.5 miles until the next stall at 5mph. I took the scooter up to 64 but I'm not sure if that's top speed because it died.
I am SOOO grateful each time it starts right back up.

The claim that the beads are indestructible also did not hold true as one set broke apart and left a mess to clean up however I do not remember if that was Equal or Dynabeads. The reusability claim is also not eternal. Their website answers the question; "Can I reuse my Dynabeads?" with; "Sure! But only once."

Wheels that are balanced using weights go out of balance as the tire wears down. This doesn't happen with DynaBeads or RideOn . Has anyone tried either product? Yes I have and they do not work all the time and do go out of balance on chatter bumps which when that happens requires you to come to a complete stop so the beads can be redistributed when you start off again. Spin balancing first is the only way you will know if you can use the beads as the balancer will indicate if the tire requires different weights on each side to balance it which is a condition that the beads do not compensate for. I am trying to research a bit more & yes, even the dynabeads website says that they're not recommended for a "lateral imbalance" requiring weights on opposite sides. I have not found anything regarding bumps requiring a complete stop? The beads lay in the bottom of the tire until you reach about 30mph & drop back to the bottom when you reduce speed to below 25mph. When they are in position, they are still in a dynamic flowing situation & even if a bump disturbs them, they should immediately return to the optimum locations. Where did you get that info? The biggest problem people complain about is that they can get stuck in the valve, causing a deflation. This can be corrected by giving a blast of air. There are also various techniques to avoid the problem happening in the first place and also core filters for about $1.50 each. General consensus seems to be that the ride becomes smooth as glass, cupping is eliminated & tire life is extended.
