I got a Yamaha for reliability but my CF Moto never stranded me.
It has been raining on the scooter a lot, so I suspect moisture might be the culprit but I'm pretty clueless.

I found a puller on ebay for $30. I wish I had a plan B.

Ahh, thank you for that.
I don't know if I can pull this maneuver off? Do I need to find a specific flywheel puller, or are they a generic type of thing? What is a flywheel holder?
Would I need any other special tools or materials? Gaskets or anything? I'm 10 miles from any stores and have no other transportation so I need to prepare.

I'm not sure of anything. There has been godawful metal on metal screeching sounds along with assorted sounds of what sounds like things bouncing around. Is it difficult to locate and remove these parts? Holy Moly, I was digging through the service manual. I thought I found some info on the oil pump but when I scrolled to it I got this:

Hi all, I hope you've been well. I backed off my internet use a few months ago to focus on financial survival. I found a crappy job & my scoot has amazingly survived the 10 mile commute for 3 months now. Until now. The engine started making some horrendous noises. I checked the oil and it came flowing out of the engine! I thought it must be mixed with the water reservoir but that level hadn't dropped. I changed the oil and it ran a lot better but still occasional screeching. I suspect some kind of oil blockage. I tried jerking side to side to splash the oil around when it screeched & it seemed to work. I found the oil pump here: www.scrappydogscooters.com/CF250_Water_cooled_parts.htmlIs installing that pump beyond my oafish mechanical abilities? Should I also try to replace the sprocket, chain & oil passage plug, shown on that website?

Nobody wore helmets on bicycles when I was a kid and I don't remember it being a problem. What's really ridiculous is that the law now requires a kid to be in a car booster seat up to 4' 9" in many places.

Spike Jones is more Macho. Weird Al asks permission before parodying a song, even though it's not required.
Better Spike Jones video
Jones is also referenced in a song by the Band.

The worst part of riding my scooter is always worrying about something breaking Geez, I forgot about that. I might fear that even worse than the cold? I don't know what's going on in that engine but I'm pretty sure it's magic.

My most hated discomfort is the cold but I'm pretty well geared up for that with my full-face helmet, scarf & insulated gloves. I also hate being near cars & almost forgot about that, because I'm able to avoid it for the most part now.
Looking out off my porch yesterday during a downpour, I tried to imagine riding in that. I've ridden motorcycles in moderate rain and it's not too bad, especially if you have a windshield but a thunderous downpour would suck. I am going to scope out places in town where I can take shelter if a big storm hits while I'm shopping. I think the car wash should work well, since not many people are going to be washing their cars in the rain.

In the short time I've had my scooter I've scored a golf club, a scythe, a gas can, bungee cords, a small duffel that I can strap to my passenger seat to haul mucho groceries & more. This week I found a beautiful cutting board, a really great small heater ( I think they have cutoffs on many recent heaters, to reduce lawsuits?) I also found these great cutters in a pile of tools. They looked like they had decades of patina & grime on them. They are very heavy stainless steel with a spring mechanism that is entirely enclosed. Beautiful engineering. They operate as smoothly as silk & glide effortlessly through everything from paper to small branches. They make my little Fiskar cutters feel like cheap junk, in comparison. They were $1

Scooters are a fantastic way to explore yard sales. You may have to return with your car for the bigger items, or you may just have to strap them to your scooter if you don't have a car, like me.
At yard sales you can find vintage items for a small fraction of what we have to pay for modern junk. They don't make stuff like they used to.
What have you scored lately?
