Hi all, I hope you've been well. I backed off my internet use a few months ago to focus on financial survival. I found a crappy job & my scoot has amazingly survived the 10 mile commute for 3 months now. Until now. The engine started making some horrendous noises. I checked the oil and it came flowing out of the engine! I thought it must be mixed with the water reservoir but that level hadn't dropped. I changed the oil and it ran a lot better but still occasional screeching. I suspect some kind of oil blockage. I tried jerking side to side to splash the oil around when it screeched & it seemed to work. I found the oil pump here: www.scrappydogscooters.com/CF250_Water_cooled_parts.htmlIs installing that pump beyond my oafish mechanical abilities? Should I also try to replace the sprocket, chain & oil passage plug, shown on that website?

I'm not sure of anything. There has been godawful metal on metal screeching sounds along with assorted sounds of what sounds like things bouncing around. Is it difficult to locate and remove these parts? Holy Moly, I was digging through the service manual. I thought I found some info on the oil pump but when I scrolled to it I got this:

Ahh, thank you for that.
I don't know if I can pull this maneuver off? Do I need to find a specific flywheel puller, or are they a generic type of thing? What is a flywheel holder?
Would I need any other special tools or materials? Gaskets or anything? I'm 10 miles from any stores and have no other transportation so I need to prepare.

Surfpick, before going into this rather extensive overhaul, I'd make darn sure it wasn't something else. (you might wish to google the Fashion 250 to see if other owners have had the same issues ) BTW, the flywheel puller for the 250 is larger and a different model than for the 125-150cc scoots.

I found a puller on ebay for $30. I wish I had a plan B.
