Oh yeah, it's got the touring option.... side bags and all.... It's gonna need a full service and I should probably inspect the variator and belt... it has 34k on the clock... It also has some scuffs on the hump but other then that, it's beautiful. I like the 2006 because it doesn't look like the Beverly, another nice bike, but I don't care for the looks of the Beverly as much or the later Scarabeo's. My challenge... my buddy thinks he locked the keys in the trunk... LOL... So I need to retrieve them. I guess you remove the headlight then you can get at the ignition switch so you can pull the cable manually. That's what I've read anyway. My next bike is gonna be a goldwing 1100 gl, interstate... found one that needs some TLC but has been stored inside for 12 years. I'll have to get famillar with shifting gears again, it's been over 20 years and that was on a 175 enduro. Yeah, a goldwing as a first bike is a bit ambitious, but, wight wise it feels about the same as the Big Scarabeo. Since I work on these scooters, I've riden this one about 50 or 60 miles and got pretty comfortable with it. When I rode my buddies wing around the parking lot, it actually felt lighter and I could flat foot it unlike the Scarabeo. I think it's mostly because the weight is a lot lower and the bike fit me better. I didn't do much more then a parking lot on the wing, because I didn't have my helmet with me, and it was a bit wet out but I did get her into second... wasn't the smoothest shift in the world, mostly because I wasn't used to where the shifter was. It feels like the shifter should of been a little further outboard but, I'd get used to it after a few miles, I'm sure.

Well, it looks like I may be getting another bike. A aprillia, Scarebeo 500 (2006). I'm convinced that if you put two scooters in a dark corner of the garage, they breed and multiply.... I'm gonna have to have a scooter sale soon....

Very useful mod....
The only complaint I have about the mirrors your using (I have a set on my bike) is I wish they were just a tad bigger... still way more functional then the stock one's tho.

They have oil pumps and make oil pressure, I'm sure some of the lubrication is splash but they are pressurized as well.

is it a stocker? Look for soot on the rear wheel.... On my 10" scooter, the weld broke on the back side of the muffler and opened it up a little. Made the bike a little louder... worked fine until the muffler finally fell off.

Electric Vehicles and hybrid vehicles are only a stepping stone to what's next. I think hydrogen fuel cells are promising. See the Honda Clarity. Distrobution or hydrogen and the energy needed to make hydrogen are the limiting factors at this point.
And yes it does look like a reflex. It looks way better then the "Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust" or Geof for short.

incidentally, the the Aprilia Scrabeo 500 is capable of 100+ (had a friend clocked at 106mph, he got off with a warning, partly because the cop couldn't believe it was a scooter and partly because the cop knew my buddy) so 80mph doesn't surprise me. I've had the beverly 500 up to 70 and she was still pulling hard, I backed out before I could get into trouble. Both of those bikes are more motorcycle then scooter.

The way I do it isn't right... I usually adjust the intake with the feeler gauges then do the exhaust by feel, using the intake as a guide.... I'm usually right on, if I go back and check with the feeler gauges. But then I've been adjusting valves on air cooled engines for years. Starting with VW's 25 years ago. Same style adjusters Incidentally.
If you do them a lot, you can "calibrate" your fingers. I don't recommend it for the novice tho.

Actually they do make solar battery chargers. I'd check the condition of the battery. Letting it sit over the weekend should not be a problem. My 150cc scoot has sit for weeks without any problems. I do have tenders but I forget to hook em up.

That does not look nice.... Who built the motor and did that lead to a catastropic failure? The rod looks twisted

Hey UM, speaking of the Scarabeo 500.... BTW, thanks for the Roar review. If you want it "peppy" swap out the low quality 23 gram roller bearings for Dr pully 19's. Even so, if I remember correctly, the Tank has the Yamaha clone 257cc unit. (as opposed to the Roar's 244cc Honda clone mill.) Actually my tank has the Honda Mill. I think the roar came with either engine... Not sure about the old Tank touring 250de. I just know mine has the Honda clone.
