OK guys, new question.
Running lean at idle, popping and stuttering from cracked throttle to about1/3 the way through...I'd need a larger pilot if I'm more than 3.5 rotations out on my a/f screw right? Just trying to wrap my head around this Carb tuning thing...

Got some time this evening to try out a new jet. Put a 114 in there with a 38 pilot. Also put on my uni filter with a short extension and high flow muffler. The "chrome" header needs modification to fit this P-code engine. Primed the carb and she fired right over, but is running way rich. Tomorrow will be the next size down, a 110. I must say, the muffler sounds good though. Is your head stock ? Yes, stock p-code head. Its my understanding that these P heads have better flow over stock gy6 heads. My current setup is advanced timing cdi, 58.5mm bore, and high flow muffler. I can see burning occurring in the header even with a 110 main and 38 pilot. Going to do a valve job today and try out the 35-110 combo. Post results later.

alleyoop, you know where to find everything for these bikes! Maybe a site list with what you use them for would help people a lot, then you can just refer them to the list when stuff like this pops up.

Thank you guys. I think I am gonna go the HeliCoil route, so I don't have to get more studs/nuts but I wil let you guys knows how the repair goes. In my professional opinion, I'm going to advise against this. Use ez-lok inserts, they are solid steel. Helicoils are just triangular wire wrapped in a circle. Helicoils also need that special tool to install, ezloks use a flat tip screwdriver. My $.02.

Saw the new one "Nightcrawler" couple days ago. Good movie, horrid endind. Cheap ticket times only for this one I think there was an Xmen or New Mutant character named Nightcrawler, who had the ability to leave his body and go around doing fun stuff, if I recall correctly. Now that would make a good movie. A movie about paparazzi or other slime, not so much. nightcrawler was the x-man with bluish skin and a tail. Originated from a family of circus freaks I believe. Had the ability to teleport, but only if he knew his surroundings, otherwise he could end up in a wall or something.

Thx Geh3333, ordered a 38 pilot and 100-140# set overnighted... shipping was more than the parts, but can't afford to be down a week... No prob , keep us posted on what size jet worked best for you. Also remember its always best to run slightly rich. Yeah this 24mm Carb was sold as a 139qmb "performance" Carb for scrappy dogs "100cc" kit... its basically a stock 150cc Carb. Which explains this Carb running rich on my 139qmb engine even with a maxed bore, head, and exhaust. I was drowning that poor engine. Lol

Sorry I didn't mention the pilot . it the same story here also I've heard some say 35 ,38 and even 42 for a stock 24mm carb. You usually don't need to mess with the pilot if using a 24mm carb , however a 35 seems a little small to me . and I'm basing this on the 58.5 setup with a 24mm carb . Thx Geh3333, ordered a 38 pilot and 100-140# set overnighted... shipping was more than the parts, but can't afford to be down a week...

So, I have the 58.5mm piston and jug installed. Engine will run with stock carb, but its running REALLY lean. This is a sealed carb.
I have another carb the same size(24mm), which has no jets in it. Does anyone know the factory jet sizes, so I atleast have somewhere to start with the tuning on this engine?
Any advice/experiences from someone in a similar situation would be appreciated too.

Mods, move to tech section please? Nicely done, Todd. Tell us, how do we know what kit to use and what drill we need? For intake, exhaust, and head stud holes I used the 3/8-16 outside and M6 inner threads, allowing factory bolts/studs to be used. The drill size and tap size information is on Graingers site, as well as on the packaging of the EZ-Lok inserts. I use these inserts all the time in a rugged industrial environment and these hold up fairly well for a thread repair solution. Helicoil can't compare to this, it's solid machined steel.

Hi, Does anyone know the power output of the stator to the battery on a 50cc scoot? I have a chinese tao tao with bbk. Wondering if its possible to hook up heated jacket and gloves. The draw is 6.4amps for jacket and 2.2 for gloves, total watts :104. Is it at all possible to wire a second battery in parallel and have the stator keep up with this kind of draw? Thank, Yellow Alternative option is getting a high amp deep, cycle battery and using it alone to power your suit. Keep it charged with an external charger.

I'm in south west pa , this cold weather sucks . we usually vacation at sunset beach NC every summer . its crazy how much more respectful people are down there then here in PA . I'm not sure if u ever heard that before but we notice right away . its funny how many just turn their heads when u say hello to them here in pa . Yeah, born and raised in eastern NC. Military put me across the country For a few years and it was shocking to see how rude people could be everywhere else.
