Ok so idk how this happens but when I was installing my bbk I guess I had over tightened one of the exhaust nuts and it stripped out the threads inside of the of head that holds the studs so I can't even screw in a new stud (I already tried). I guess the stud just fell out right after I mated the frame and engine. So I am kinda stuck on how to fix this and would appreciate any thoughts, ideas, or, advice. This is already a new bigger head so I really don't wanna buy a new one of those. When I took the exhaust nut off the stud I noticed that I could screw off metal shavings kind of? off the stud so my guess that metal was the threads inside of the head. Because of this missing stud/bolt my scoot backfires now other than that it runs good just need new weights but I would really like to fix this backfiring. I am thinking get some high heat epoxy and just putting it all around the exhaust I have no plans on ever removing this exhaust so do you guys think that will seal that hole and solve my backfiring?

You can retap to the next size studs, so if it is a 6mm stud get 8mm stud if 8mm get 10mm stud. They have tap sets just for those sizes. Not a biggie happens to a lot of guys always over tighten things on a aluminum motor. Alleyoop

Or you can get a HELI COIL set for the same size studs they sell the tap and heli coil most sets do not include the drill you have to supply the drill bit yourself. 8MM: 10MM:

Thank you guys this is such a better option then the epoxy. I actually have a bunch of thread taps, I just need to find the right size and a new stud/nut. What is the 10mm studs for 150cc heads? I used the stock studs and its a 139qmb engine so I assume those are 6mm? And all that means I should get the 8mm studs then i'm guessing and i'll have to call around see whos got these parts but thanks again alleyoop your like an encyclopedia of scooter knowledge.

Well at this point since you will have to re-tap you can go with none metric and get them at any auto parts store or you can get metric ones. Alleyoop

Thank you guys. I think I am gonna go the HeliCoil route, so I don't have to get more studs/nuts but I wil let you guys knows how the repair goes.

In my professional opinion, I'm going to advise against this. Use ez-lok inserts, they are solid steel. Helicoils are just triangular wire wrapped in a circle. Helicoils also need that special tool to install, ezloks use a flat tip screwdriver. My $.02.
