Did a bit of research. Yes the R/R is the primary shunt when excess voltage needs to be grounded and dissipated as heat, as we all know. However, this grounding is being done back to the stator, so it could in fact cause the stator to act as a shunt if the R/R is not up to the task. This could be the cause of stator failure in some systems due to overheating, and that's what I'm curious about. I'm confused... How is it being grounded back to the stator? The stator, the R/R, all of that is all grounded to the same thing, the frame and neg terminal of your battery..... Yes, I can probably get the specs from the seller.. The seller is who gave me the power output rating. So I will ask.... However, I think regulators already act as an overload shunt circuit. R/R's do 2 things, regulates (keeps the voltage and amps) the current and the rectifies the current from AC to DC. I should be able to spin the flywheel around the stator max RPM, with zero accessories drawing power, and my regulator should be dumping any excess current... If not, yeah, it would burn up the stator probably..... But on the other side of that coin, if I'm constantly drawing a MAX load, I will likely burn up the stator or R/R....

Oh, and I have only posted this on "itstheride"... If anyone else wants to publish on other scooter forums, feel free to have at it.... I just kind a feel weird posting the same thread on multiple forums.

interesting , 29mm bolt hole spacing . Hey if it mounts I would buy one too . John I don't know why they listed it that way. the 29mm is for your crankshaft. The bolt hole (mounting) spacing is 41mm and the stator itself is .5mm. I've already did all the measuring. This is in fact for a GY6 125/150cc.

Sweet! It'll be interesting to see what you get out of it. What modifications to the rest of the electrical system will you have to make to compensate? Larger R/R? Current stabilizer? One thing I'm still unsure of about the scooter electrical system, what happens to excess power? I've read somewhere that it is shunted back to the stator for dispersion. I'm not talking about the voltage regulator's shunts. Even in a system that produces the exact same amount of power all the time, the battery eventually gets charged, and there is excess power that has to be eliminated via heat dispersion. If it is the stator dissipating the excess heat, do you think this one will have any heat related issues in times of excess power production? They sell the whole kit, But because my particular scooter already has a 12 pole, DC stator all the rest of my components, I think are the same ones... Could be the R/R is different, but they look identical.... In short, I don't know....I think the stator operates just like an alternator with a self exciting regulator.. I think the R/R shunts/dumps the excess heat into the ground to avoid the heat build up..... Give me a week or two, I have some friends who are electrical engineers and I will ask them to help me figure it out... But remember, In my case, I'm not sure if I'll have extra power to spare.... I am adding a lot of extra components.

WOW!! 230 watts that is fantastic!! Where did you find this Martin, put up the link of where you found maybe others may want to give it a shot as well to put in nice bright headlights and better amps for their radios. Alleyoop I ordered 2 single 18 pole, and 2 of the full kit. I purchased them VIA ALI-Express.

They all have slip fit cylinder jugs and that tells us the head and cylinder deck hight from crankshaft centerline will be different from one engine to the next. With an overhead chain driven cam there would be no way to accurately zero in the cam for every engine. Can you elaborate? Why will the deck height from the crankshaft centerline be different on every GY6? Isn't that the point of the cam tensioner?

Ok, they finally arrived. I'm as excited as a fat kid in a candy shop! Over Christmas I received a bunch of GY6 goodies.... One was an Ecotrons EFI kit. Big drain on a GY6 electrical output (about 50 watts). In addition, I purchased for myself, a Taida 63mm water cooled BBK. The water pump and electric fan draw about 40 watts..... Now, my scooter already is equipped with a 12 pole, DC stator which produces roughly the same amount of current as the highly coveted 11-pole.... Both produce about 120~130 usable watts. Which is not enough for my needs. Finally I came across a Chinese seller offering a Modified 18 pole stator for the GY6 125/150. This is a very rare stator. delivery time is listed as 39 days so be prepared to wait if you order direct. Anyhow, this is a DC stator. It produces 230 watts at 7500 rpm's. This is the absolute max upgrade you can do to a 150cc to make extra juice. I'm including a picture. It's next to one of my 12 pole stators. I will make a video of the install when I do it.

I think Jerseyboy is on the right path... IMO, that sounds an awful lot like something is stuck in your flywheel.. Maybe a small pebble or something.... If it were me, I would just pluck the flywheel off, give it a good cleaning and eliminate the possibility of both, the fan blades and the flywheel.

If you have any specific questions on our particular models, please let me know and I'd be happy to assist you. Have a great weekend. I have a quick question about one of your models. The Bintelli Vibe.... I do not see it on Bintellis website but Grand Rapids Scooter has them on their website. Is this a new or discontinued model? Also, does Bintelli produce this scooter in the 150cc?

dmartin: I was just going back over the old comment where you had a photo of your gauges. 1 question; where the heck is the boost gauge? It's a Boost/Vacuum gauge (Dual purpose)... You just tap into a vacuum line and it will tell you the vacuum, but obviously it would never go into the boost... It was part of a three pack for like 18 Bucks or something... I could've purchased one more suited for these scooters, but for my purposes it should just work fine.

Reviews were sketchy. Some people said the safety bar bent, but it's about an inch in diameter and, while I haven't yet tried putting a thousand pounds on it, it isn't phased by having a 400 lb scooter on it. Some people said their jacks came without oil, so I bought some, but mine was full and working properly. Others said they didn't like the wheel chock that came with the unit, and opted to buy bigger one, but I found it adequate. The sales person said they use several manufacturers, each with different SKU numbers, so if one manufacturer makes bad products, they can drop them. Hopefully they have, or will, drop the ones creating problems. The jack comes with a day warranty. They have long term return and on-site service plans available, but they are a bit pricey so I opted out of those. For the price, if it works for a long time, it will be a good bargain and it makes working on bikes a lot easier. As you all may or may not have seen in my videos, I have one of these Harbor Freight motorcycle lifts as well... They are perfect for a scooter, but as an owner of one, You couldn't pay me enough to wrench on fully dressed bike on it. It would be too dangerous. I would be too scared the lift may tip side to side... This is not a heavy duty lift, by any means... In short, I would not buy it to work on Motorcycles. When I purchased mine from a retail location, I had to add "hydraulic fluid", not oil. If you purchased one filled, I would wager it was a customer return. They do not typically come filled.. The removable panel is nice and great for getting at the underside of the engine, but you will not be pulling an engine through it. You wouldn't even want to..... If you're using this only to work on scooters, It will more than likely last a lifetime. But I would not buy it as a motorcycle lift.

Here is a list of the mods i want to do on my 2014 TaoTao ATM50 that i bought last March, 1200+ Miles since then. . . 6. Replace the sorry excuse for a headlight ( i drive in the country, if i use low beam, i cant see more than 10 feet in front of me, if i use high beam, i cant see in the fields, thus the time i almost kissed a deer...) 6. If you upgrade your headlight, use an HID like this: LINK $19.00 to the door and they are plug and play... Wire coloring will even mate up. The biggest bonus, you will not have do any "mods" other than swap the actual bulb into your existing head lamp reflector. I have installed this very kit in two scooters now and you just can not imagine how bright they are. Your original bulb is likely a 25/25 watt and this kit is only 35/35 watts. A 10 watt difference.... However, like Jerry suggest, swap out your blinker (1156) and stop light bulbs (1157) with LED's and you will recapture that lost 10 watts.

I had to chuckle just a little over your (scooter) complete faith in paypal. I refuse to have a pp account, since their agreement stipulates that if anyone at all, including a pp employee, steals your ccard info, YOU are the one responsible for all felonious charges. Guess I'm funny, but I feel the THIEF should be the one responsible. I know, it's probably relatively easy to get out of owing for a thief's charges, should your info get hacked. But if you happen to have a hard-nose for a bank, they CAN always point to that clause and insist you pay, since that's what you agreed to. >'Kat Kat, that is not how PayPal works. If your card is stolen or your account Hi-jacked, PayPal will in fact cover all losses.... Now, there is an exception to this rule. When you have a PayPal account, you have to link a credit/debit card to the account. You can pay a transaction VIA your linked account (e check).... In the instance your bank account gets accessed through PayPal, it's your responsibility to have your Bank cover the loss. Here's a quote from PayPals TOS: Source
------------------------------ On a side note, I have used Ebay since back in the day when it was competition with Haggle.... I've used PayPal since Ebay incorporated it and I can honestly say I have better protection from PayPal than I do my bank. Ebay and PayPal both got shady reputations because in the beginning, there was a lot of loose rules and it was almost like a craigslist auction. No real buyer or seller protection... But times have changed and I wouldn't hesitate recommending either one, PayPal or Ebay.

Yes, the Scorch and Havocs, all three had ZNEN motors.
MY wifes, 150cc BMS Heritage also has ZNEN motor and all have been great running engines.... All the 150's are stamped BN157QMJ and the 50cc scorch was stamped BN139QMB.

I'm planning to buy a 50cc scooter for short commutes in town. Sounds like it's a good idea to buy from a local shop for parts/repairs. I have shops near me that sell Wolf Brand (formerly Gorilla Motor Works), Bintelli, & Puma. Another option I'm considering is buying a used Yamaha, Honda, or Italian brand. Any input or suggestions? Early Spring of 2014 I purchased a Bintelli Scorch 50cc.... It was awesome! Never had a single problem with it. However, I live out in the country with a long and open roads.... All the roads around here are 55 mph.... Felt like I was gonna get ran over so I had to upgrade to a 150cc... I was going to get a Bintelli Scorch 150cc, however, none of the dealers had one in stock, but I came across a dealer who said he would sell me a Bintelli Havoc 150cc at the same price.. So I jumped on the deal.... The Bintelli Havoc 150cc is an awesome scooter... It comes with a bunch of upgrades that Scooters like TaoTao do not. Gates Kevlar belt, NGK plug, Duro Tires, and all the vacuum/fuel lines are name brand, etc etc....... I've only been able to put 1300 miles on it this summer, however, I always have instant starts, smooth idle and for a 150cc, this sucker is fast! I hit 62MPH on level surface. I really think Bintelli does not belong in the "Chinese Scooter" category. Of course I have a Biased opinion because I own a couple Bintellis now... But I got that Bias from riding a reliable scooter. Bintellis cost a little more than the drop ship brands, but IMO, the extra money is worth it.....
