How's it going everyone ? Not to long ago I put up a thread about a possible crank problem ,however I never posted a video of the noise . hopefully this will help diagnose what exactly the noise is . I thank u all for the help . I kind of hit the fan scoop and the noise stopped . I'm sure it was a coincidence , so I did it again just to show that. Here it is .

Hey Geh,, Take the cover all the way off and see if it stops.
Might be that little rubber plug or the vent hitting something...maybe a stick in the vent snorkel? Could have sucked a stick or something in there and now its behind the fan,,you don't have a protective screen on it..
Did you have the flywheel off yet,,hows the stator look?
If it was a crank bearing it would keep making the noise..
Man that exhaust sounds good!
Too cold out there to be messin with it today..lol
Im off to try and find a small rubber hose for my intake/carb issue.

It did do it with the cover off, and its been making the noise for atleast 2-3 months . I haven't noticed it getting any worse . it just seems to stay the same .

I would pull the flywheel and check in the cavity there where stator is,,sounds like something light and small(almost like an oak leaf) flickering off the flywheel or the fan.
With your mileage,,i would just keep running it like you do,,and start saving for a rebuild kit or I saw a motor NIB for $299 free shipping on ebay,,almost bought one just to have it for a spare. The stock motors run great with some more fuel and air!

Yeah , that's sorta the plan . I bought this engine new off of eBay . the old engine had around 1000 miles on her ,but I wanted to start fresh with a new engine and I may be doing it again . I'll just let this engine run until she goes, which actually may not be for awhile .

Sounds like the fan blades. If it was behind the flywheel, it would be scrapping or sound more metallic.

It does sound like the fan but I assure u its not . the only thing it could really be is the crank " which it does not sound like a bad crank " or the starter clutch somehow making noise , however I have no clue if anyone has ever had one go bad and make this type of noise .

Is there any lateral play in the crank?
I really don't think its the crank.

I think Jerseyboy is on the right path... IMO, that sounds an awful lot like something is stuck in your flywheel.. Maybe a small pebble or something.... If it were me, I would just pluck the flywheel off, give it a good cleaning and eliminate the possibility of both, the fan blades and the flywheel.

Yea, that sounds like plastic is being hit by either the fan or the flywheel. That is not metalic sound at all. Alleyoop

Hey Geh,,didn't you use Bondo on that PVC fan extension??,,maybe a piece of it broke off and got stuck behind the flywheel.
Man I wish it would warm up here,,I'm dying to roar around a bit and break in my BBK.

I actually used bondo on my fan cover . however I replaced the fan cover last season. I'll have to pull the cover and the fan off again and record a video to see if it makes the noise .

The crazy thing is that I've had the flywheel off and on a couple times in the past couple months and did not notice anything.

I agree, that noise is not crank related. If it were it would be constant.
