A yellow jacket got in my truck and landed on my shirt yesterday. Fortunately he was preoccupied with scratching his head like a little dog, and I had time to pull over, grab him by the wing, and toss him out.
Some years ago I was hit in the forehead by a large bee or hornet while wearing a half helmet with no shield. That really hurt! I frantically pulled over and got the helmet off, worried he would sting me, but he hit me so hard it killed him. Fun times!

vacuum leak? I am hoping the "bang" was out the tail pipe? Was it a backfire or a mechanical type of noise?

Apparently a lot of scooter dealers stink at customer service. I had a question I needed an answer to, and a lady gave me the email addresses of four dealers/mechanics to write to. Of the four emails I sent, not ONE answered back. Not even an "I have no idea."

I have a 2008 Diamo Turista 300 (Linhai Aeolus). Where is the fuel filter located? It's usually between the fuel tank and the carburetor.

That is exactly like mine. Strange. Thanks, Scooter. I'll cap it. That begs another question: Why won't my scoot run with that carb? I'm going to mess with it more, and will post what I come up with. It came with jets that are 5mm thread, and normal carbs are 4mm. But, I unscrewed the entire jet tube, and put it in my other carb, and it fit, and ran fine. Very puzzling. Just under WOT, it will not run right past 15mph. Hmmm.... You're welcome. I added to my post above. I am starting to think it might be an oil inlet, and I would agree with you on capping it off if that's the case. I wouldn't know why it won't run. If a vacuum operated carb did that, I'd assume I had a vacuum leak.

If that's the case then I'm guessing the line in your picture is the fuel inlet. I assume you have hoses going from the intake manifold nipple to the PAIR system, or you have it capped off if you don't need any vacuum lines. The fuel inlet nipple is in it's normal place. I am using the manifold nipple for a carbon canister to vent the gas tank. I have another one capped off. I was really hoping to use this carb. ugh. This carb came from that starrider guy on ebay in NC that has stuff for cheap. It may be junk. My old one works fine, I just had to replace the float, as it got stuck open, but hopefully it won't happen again. If you could show me all the sides of the carb that have hoses, that would help me rule out what hoses are for what. If you have a model number or something to identify it, I can look online for answers too.

I see what you are talking about now. 50cc carbs don't have a vacuum hose that operates the large diaphram. It is raised just by the vacuum that arises from opening the butterfly. If that's the case then I'm guessing the line in your picture is the fuel inlet. I assume you have hoses going from the intake manifold nipple to the PAIR system, or you have it capped off if you don't need any vacuum lines.

Hi all, I live in Raleigh NC and I have a 250cc roketa scooter that has not seen action for 2 years. It's been collecting cowbes for a long time. The tank has gasoline in it, I guess I need to replace the carburetor and tires? And it was giving me problems since day one, getting hot, not keeping in idle because it will shut off and takes forever to crank up, frustration rising.... Anyway, just glad that I found this place and hopefully I can get this scooter up and running with ya help. Ricardo I usually find that these old carbs are fine and just need a good cleaning. Replacing a carb because it is dirty, seems like a terrible waste and even a bit lazy. If it was getting hot, it probably needed the fuel mixture screw adjusted or even an upjet. (Or it could have been a timing or valve clearance issue. If it shut off during idle, it may have needed adjustment or a new electric choke unit, or maybe upjetting of the pilot jet. Then again the valves may have needed adjusting. I'm not a pro on carbs or anything, but cleaning the carb and setting the fuel mix screw to 2 - 2-1/2 turns out usually results in a good running engine, along with setting the valve clearance. Your issues seem to indicate the need to set the valve clearance. If you see any gunk in the carb or the fuel filter, I'd wash that tank out good too.

That one in your picture is about as big as I have seen in a 150. The 250 Rocketa style is about the same size as the 150. I think they have pretty much the same frame. If you are over 6 feet tall, you might like a CFmoto250, a Honda Helix 250. The CFmoto Fashion and Honda Helix 250's have nice leg room but they are an older style. For longer rides, I find the CF/Helix style to be WAY more comfortable than the Rocketa style, but the Rocketa style is more maneuverable and sporty. I have not tried a Grand Dink or a Burgman 400+ so I can't speak on those. On the CF/Helix you can stretch your feet out far forward. Usually, coming from the carb, there are the vacuum line, the fuel line, the vent tube, and maybe a bowl drain tube. As long as the fuel line and vacuum line are hooked up, the scooter should run. In some cases there will be a vacuum line that is looped from the top of the carb down to the side of the carb, so that's 3 hose nipples. This allows one vacuum hose to feed both the big diaphragm and a smaller one that operates the idle circuit or something. i26.tinypic.com/352182h.jpg
