Sitting still if a car hits you you would hope you had on a helmet . I have had some ask why I wear a helmet since a scooter is no where as fast as a crotch rocket , but I am waaaaaay to pretty to get mangled up LOL . I have a a FF helmet save me big time in a severe wreck when I was 17 .
I use a GMax Platinum helmet and I enjoy it as I only paid 80 for it and it has alot of vents . I picked up a Fulmer modular at a flea market but to me the hinge seems like the weak link in a hard impact . I looked at a Bilt modular but it felt very cheaply made . If you truly want a modular I would get a Shoei
Its best to buy from a local store so you can test fit as mine feels like it is tailored to fit me .
Amazon has many " scooter helmets " starting at 20 and up and Amazon has an excellent return policy .
A helmet is cheaper than plastic surgery . I was riding without a helmet and woman asked me " what do you call a rider without a helmet ?" The answer is an organ donor

Here is info on AC and DC CDIs scroll down www.scrappydogscooters.com/Tech_Talk_with_Mo_.html . Are you certain it is adjustable ? Most are fixed timing and the adjustable ones cost way more . I have read too many Ebay horror stories on parts but it may be a deal . Stick with a trusted vendor like one of the sponsors here . If MillSC said that CDI in his link is good I would take his word on it . Many are not RPM restricted as many reported no diff in factory and aftermarket CDIs . Timing too far advanced may make starting not as easy to do

Dragonspeaks that is a great idea . I put Vaseline on the battery terminals to prevent corrosion and bulb grease on the headlight

May need a larger idle jet . Idling it not suggested on a new build nor is that how you break it in . To break it in ride at midrange while going up and down in speed .
Now you want to try a smaller MJ as when I did my BBK I tried too large of MJs and it would sputter even had gas drops come out of the UNI tried a smaller MJ and tada no sputter and the fun began . How many MMs is your carb ? Checked for intake or exhaust leaks . Do a plug chop to see how the jetting is

I rode to another town in a typhoon with flooding , heavy rain and wind . I almost died 3 times from cagers . Just before I got to where I was going I had to dump at least 3 ozs of water out from my sleeves and I had water standing 3 or 4 inches above my ankles inside my Tyvek suit . Yeah it is designed for spray painting ETC but has worked great in less of a storm . I have bought a few throw away ponchos and I have rain pants but the vinyl stuff makes me get so hot as it is not permeable an when its humid and not rainy . I prefer to wear Freeze Out longjohn pants and under shirt as they are windproof ( extra layers in the front ) and water resistant , along with my waterproof boots and gloves with a FF helmet . Make sure lights work and the headlight lens is clean . I have used RainX on car windshields but found regular carnuba wax works way better as it fills in scratches and pits so its smooth and water runs off instead of stand . NEVER use RainX on a face shield or eyeglasses . I tried it already and had to wash it off with hot water . RainX also makes an Antifog solution that works on auto glass but I found Scoots AntiFog spray at www.cyclegear.com works on headlights , eyeglasses and face shields . An application can last up to a week depending on conditions just make sure to clean it streak free before applying it . I have gotten caught in the rain with out a helmet and I can only stand to go 45 MPH with my lips tucked in as it stings my face . With my wrap around Oakleys with foam pads it blocks rain and wind but prone to fog when wet and or in the winter . Normal glasses the get foggy and allow rain to still hit my eyes . Keep extra distance from cars and it will take extra stopping distance in the rain . Try to ride on the right side on a lane in order to be in drivers view of those behind you and ride in the tracks of previous cars as the water will be less than where it is not disspursed . Slow scoots stay of the right side and yield to cagers so they can pass you . Having a reflective vest or coat helps improve others to see you

My Echarm gets 80 MPG with variables at at 50MPH but when I hit 70 MPH ( it used to hit 75 ) it drinks more gas . My 2T when it was stock was not that bad but not as good as my 4T 50 but with a BBK , pipe and 120 MJ I barely get 50 MPG since the RPMs are so much higher as I try to stay at 8 or 9k and only hit 10,500 for a moment as I do not want to have another disaster like when the wristpin came out and ate up the piston , head and cylinder , GRRRRRRRRR . I have ridden on state interstates for several miles with no problem but no way would I get on the federal interstate where I live as certain sections it is another " Redneck Autobahn " where even going 80 MPH in car people zoom past me . Its worse near bigger cities like Atlanta , Charlotte and Concord . Now way I would go on a long interstate ride on my Echarm since its just a 150 . I can do above the min at anytime and even speed but its pushing hard , where a larger cc engine would be cruising . I did take my 2T on an interstate as I forgot about a highway I was on unofficially is an interstate between two counties then the speed limit goes back down closer to the town . The same day , well that night I went back on it but with my Echarm and I got a warning ticket for going 72MPH in a 65 MPH zone by a HP who was very cool and was more interested to know what kind of scooter I have rather than the minor violation . Riding at 50 MPH is safe , at 60 it gets sketchy and at top speed it has made me more nervous than when I hit 160 MPH on a Hurricane 1000 ( renamed CBR ) . When you have a semi or dump truck going ether direction I found it is best to let up off of the throttle some and duck down as the wind off of some has moved me around and I had to slow down to regain control . Even with 16s it does have what I call a " crossover " feel as its more motorcycle feel than a scooter with doughnuts ( fat tires ) . The rear shocks are wimpy even on firmest setting . Now there is a long highway with insane giant hills we call " The Redneck Autobahn " as it is through a rural area and even with me speeding people break there next to pass me . 2 weeks ago I was cruising at 60 and a goober scared me as there really was not enough room to pass me with a car close in front of me . I rode his bumper and acted like I was going to pass him to send some rudeness back to him . Well the goober clipped the guardrail , broke off a side mirror and kept on going . It is risky enough on the streets and highways with interstate even more dangerous . I would rather find another route and enjoy the ride rather have cagers going fast around me as I do not trust anyone on the road . I have ridden many 400 to 750cc MCs on the interstate with no problem as they have enough power and speed to zoom away rather than be maxed out . I did draft semis by getting right behind them and pulling in the clutch after I heard the draft would pull me down the road as I am one who has to find out myself rather than takes one word on stuff . VERY dangerous and not suggested

Sliders perform better on take off and top end plus they last longer . The 1k, 1.5k , and 2k clutch springs engage at their rating above that of the stock springs . Example say stock springs engage at 2,000 RPM with a 1K spring set they would engage at 3,000 RPM I have DR Pulley sliders in both of my scooters as they are the best . Now many here like Koso brand of sliders . Now with stiffer springs you may need heavier weights and it will be a series of trial and error so you may opt to get this kit with various weights to test and you can mix them up like 3 5g and 3 4g to equal 4.5g enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/14177743/prima-roller-weight-kit-16-x-13 find the weight that works and order a gram heavier in sliders

Hope you measured the pads before ordering . Put a lil grease on the edges NOT the friction part otherwise they squeak . Odd to have worn them out so fast

If hes lucky maybe new piston rings and gaskets may work as long as the cylinder and head are ok . I could be a Morini if its not a JOG or Minarelli . Very easy to rebuild since no cam chain or valves to mess with . It would be worth it to rebuild the engine even if you had to get a cylinder and head . I prefer a 2T over a 4T since they are peppy and fun to ride around on

Check the valve gaps as most shade tree wrenchers do not know about this common issue
