I'm trying to repair a friend's E-Ton Beamer. It is getting good spark, and it is getting fuel, but it has almost no compression. I'm thinking the rings are shot and maybe the cylinder is scored. The dude was running it without the air filter attached, so he was asking for trouble and he got it! It has a little over 10,000 miles on it. I'm not sure what kind of engine it has. It looks different from the Minerelli. The CVT cover is completely different. I'll get some pics later when I'm able. It used to be a really nice scoot, but its basically a wreck now.

Here are pics. Maybe someone could give me an idea how old this might be and what engine it has so I can find parts for it Attachments:

There is no engine code, at least not one visible without taking a bunch of stuff apart.

Looks like a Geely style engine like here www.scrappydogscooters.com/Geely_D1E41QMB_2T_parts.htmlI had a wristpin come out and it ate up the piston m head and cylinder . I bought a new piston kit and smoothed the head but it would not start with PSI . Bought a new BBK , reused the new piston since I only tried to start it but no luck and tada it fired right up and has everytime since . Also check the reed valves for wear . Low compression= no start . Cast aluminum is so soft you can mar it with a fingernail . I would try the rebuil kit at Scrappys or opt for the BBK if you find out what type of main jet it uses and its size in order to get a larger one so it will not burn up from being lean Is the oil tank full of 2T oil ? Some have a float sensor that prevents starts or running with the oil level is too low

It's not a Geely engine, the cylinder is horizontal. The oil tank sits right on top of the cylinder. It hadn't been getting electrical power, but now it is. The wiring for the oil tank level sensor was unplugged! I tried again to start it, but the battery died, the kick starter is so rusted it barely moves, and I can't get one of the CVT screws out so I can grease the kickstarter. After it stops raining I'll just borrow the battery from my scooter and try it again.

Still no luck, the compression is just too low. The owner said he doesn't want to spend a lot of money on it, but it looks like he's gonna have to if he wants it to run again.

If hes lucky maybe new piston rings and gaskets may work as long as the cylinder and head are ok . I could be a Morini if its not a JOG or Minarelli . Very easy to rebuild since no cam chain or valves to mess with . It would be worth it to rebuild the engine even if you had to get a cylinder and head . I prefer a 2T over a 4T since they are peppy and fun to ride around on

He may give me the scooter for parts if he decides not to pay to have it repaired. If he does, then I may be able to gradually rebuild it as money allows.

Oh, and I was wrong about the engine. It is a JOG/Minarelli 1E40QMB.

Well, the guy decided he wants me to rebuild it. I have the top end torn down and the thing had obviously been run out of oil. The cylinder is scored and the piston is burned to a crunchy crisp. The main and rod bearings seem ok though. I may be able to polish the inside of the cylinder because it's not scored that badly. He gave me the money to get a new piston, rings, gaskets, airbox, and ignition coil (it's getting very weak spark as well). We'll see what happens.

I have this same scooter, it is a 2004 Eton Beamer PN2 50cc scooter Here is a link too the online owners manual - www.anythingatv.com/technical/Manuals/OM_PN2.pdfAnd i Am % sure you need a new Top End! (Cylinder, Cylinder head, Head and bottom gasket, Piston, Piston Rings, Wrist Pin **10mm**, Wrist Pin bearings And Cir Clips) All found on Ebay for verry Cheap (i would go ahead and get a 70cc big bore kit because they are about 20$ cheaper and duh have more horse power!) As for what type of engine ? Model Number: 1E40QMB This scooter has a Taiwanese Built Horizontal Minarelli Jog 50 Clone Engine made by SYM the same Company that Builds the TGB scooters and they make engines for Ford and a few other big name dealers, like yamaha ! How will you know if you need a new end ? well the compression test was a dead give away, but always better safe than sorry, take off the engine shrouds and fan cover be careful off the oil cable that lines the fan shroud Remove the Exhaust header from the cylider wall's port with a 10mm socket or wrech, Then remove the Cylinder's head and well as the cylinder and Take a look at the inside of the cylinder for scoring or wear marks, if none just replace the piston and rings, if marks on the cylinder are present than you will need to replace the piston, rings and cylinder After that its scoot scoot scoot!
