I have a Genuine R50 RoughHouse 50cc scooter. It has 3100 miles on it. I am the original owner. I'm pretty sure it's a 2010 model; the sticker says it was built in 2011, and I bought it in 2011. It has 3100 miles so far. I took it in for a tune-up after the first 1000 miles, based on stuff I read online. I should preface this by saying I'm about as mechanically inclined as possible.
So far it has rode without problems. However I'm pretty sure the rear brake pad is done. When riding it a noise has started occuring at certain operation. About the first 30 seconds of riding, there is no noise. After a while there is a high-pitched noise like two things are grinding. However, when I am accelerating, the noise ceases until I let up off the accelerator, where it starts back up.
Upon further inspection, the rear brake pad seems to be the culprit. The rear brake works at probably 20% original function.
I can only conclude that the pad needs to be replaced. I have a family member who is going to help out/has tools. I've looked online for the pad, but all I can find is rear pads.
Does anyone know where I can get rear pads for a genuine R50 roughhouse?

All the links I found on my own, and through your help, all say "front" brakes. I'm needing a rear brake pad. Are they the same?

Hope you measured the pads before ordering . Put a lil grease on the edges NOT the friction part otherwise they squeak . Odd to have worn them out so fast

Just a thought, did you check the gear oil to make sure it was properly filled and clean? If it's never been serviced it should have been changed at least once.
It's possible the rear drum brake needs a simple adjustment on the nut that shortens/tightens the cable...
