The main jet is for top end where the idle jet is used at starting and idle . Any vacuum leak like a cracked or pinched hose as well as intake and airbox . Remove the idle jet and clean it carb cleaner spray or a stiff solid wire . Does it seem to start and idle diff with the BBK compared to stock engine ? My 2T came with 40 IJ which I had to give it s sip of throttle to start , more so with BBK and it always needing the idle speed adjusted as the temp changed and would not idle for a long time without stalling when warm . I replaced it with a 45IJ and tada , no throttle to start and no idle or stall issues . It would sometimes want to stall a bit if I was zooming and stopped real fast .
After cleaning the idle jet and check for leaks , you should check the valves with the engine cold . All 4Ts will need adjusting at least once . When they get too tight they limit the amount of air and fuel which can make it hard to or unable to start and also stall when warm

The number of poles your stator has determines the power out put . More poles more power . Some only have 8 poles , some 11 and my Echarm has 12 poles . There is quite a few who upgraded from 8 to 11 by changing out the stator and voltage regular also called rectifier

If the lights come on when the engine starts and dim and brighter with RPM changes , then it is AC powered by the stator as most are . My Echarm the lights come on with a turn of the key and stay the same level of brightness and never dim .
On my Magnum it has dual headlights as it has a handsome boy body like the Peace VIPs and others use . It has twin 35watt bulbs and I can see great with it . The tail bulb burned out so I replaced it with a 1157 LED which is brighter and uses less power , plus does not have a filament that burns out like a bulb . I could tell a lil diff at idle since the rear uses 5 watts on average where the brake circuit can be 25 watts . I could see the headlights dim when the brakes were applied unless I had the RPMs screaming . I had a TaoTao ATMa with a single head light , but man if was just above a candle as I could not see good enough to drive at night in the country or where there was no lights on poles .
In most cases you may go up to a bulb that is 10 watts more , but do not over 25 watts . I have read and seen in person where some tried a 55 watt bulb an it would over heat the bulb housing and put a drain on the stator and limit it being able to charge the battery up .
Keep the headlight lens clean and streak free . I use Scotts Antifog on mine like I use for my face shield , mirrors and eyeglasses . If it has haze get some of the rubbing compound made for lenses as I did on a clients van and really made an improvement after the haze was gone .
If you have the money and skills there is HID option . They look cool but the blueish hue blinds me and is worse in the rain at night to me . I have buddies that have HIDs on their cars . My scooter dealer did a HID upgrade and replaced the running lights , dash and blinkers with LEDs . LED turn signals will require a diff relay where the others you install just like a bulb with no mods needed

A few have drilled out the stock muffler to improve flow and will require a larger main jet as would an after market exhaust too . Many of the aftermarket exhaust use straps instead of having brackets so research your scooter and exhaust you find before buying or having to " MacGyver " it . Many stock exhaust seem to be made out of crappy metal that rots and breaks so an after market exhaust will most likely be better . I have laughed at some kits with expensive price for a generic name . Here is a couple under Chinese and maybe under the Leo Vince ( very good brand ) www.scooterdomain.com/chinese-parts/dirt-bike-scooter-atv-motor-cycle/exhaust-pipes/street-legal-scooters.html You may luck out and get a used exhaust as some after market ones are loud like my PM Tuning pipe that I bought used from another scooter forum . My scooter dealer had a Keeway Matrix , which is normally a 2T ( 2 stroke ) Minarelli engine but it has a GY6 150 with a Minarelli exhaust pipe . Some stock 2Ts only have a tube and muffler where the tuned pipes have an expansion chamber often with the pipe bending 180 degrees forward where the muffler attaches . He said he did not really see an improvement over it having a 2T exhaust , but I have read a few posts here where a few have used a 2T exhaust on a 4T engine . I wish I could have heard and run before they sold it . There used to be a video on YT where a guy put on 85cc BBK , carb off of a Honda XR80 ( off road motorcycle ) , gutted the baffling and rewelded it together , cut off the nozzle tip and welded on a larger one from a scrap piece of pipe . Should you design to MacGyver a pipe there is risk you may mess it up but is free providing you have the tools and know how . If you mod or buy a used pipe I would get some VHT ( very high temperature , which is also a brand and term used for exhaust and engine paint ) instead of trying standard spray paint in a car that will burn off .

I have a Uni on my 2T and I have to keep it oiled and covered with a tarp in my car port . I have gotten water in the carb when it rained hard and the wind was blowing . I simply drained the bowl and was good . I only ride it when I am sure I will not get in rain . My Echarm has the airbox and I ride regardless of the weather . I rode 30 miles in a Typhoon that had water 3 or 4 inches above my ankles inside my rain suit with no problems with my scooter . I almost died twice from cagers since it rained so hard it really limited visiblity and it was at night . Here is a link for covered airfilters that may help you out www.scooterdomain.com/chinese-parts/dirt-bike-scooter-atv-motor-cycle/air-filters.htmlUnder the seat is too hot and limited space to fit a cooler . I would ether attach a milk crate on the rear rack , if you have one , and get a small cooler like an Oscar . You will be profiled as a beer drinker by many . A rear trunk is great for storing drinks , snacks and other items that you do not want to expose to the engines heat . You can get some styrofoam in the two part liquids that when mixed dry and form styrofoam from a boat shop so you can insulate your trunk . The cheap trunks are small and not sturdy so you may want something like from www.coosecase.com . I did like how my TaoTao ATMa had two cubbies up front and would hold a 20 oz bottle of water or soda , but not keep it cold . I saw a guy with a Camelpak ( expensive brand name ) which is a narrow back pack with a 2 liter reservoir bladder and a hose with handsfree mouth tip . Well the fanny pack style starts at 30 and backpack can be as much as 80 dollars . I bought a generic one at Kmart or Walmart for 20 dollars . Amazon has pages of em . Since the opening is so big I put in chilled water and ice cubes in the reservoir . I also put in two of the freeze blocks to keep it cool as long as possible . It has storage compartments and pockets for other stuff too . Walmart or any bicycle part store you can get a bottle water cage for cheap and it will hold most 16 to 20 0z bottled drinks as well as the bottle that may come with the bracket . I used to ride mountain bikes for sport and I had two cages . I would have a frozen bottle of water for the return trip and drink the chilled water first . I have read where some installed a heated thermos powered by a 12V power outlet, like car lighter use , to keep coffee or cocoa warm in the winter

Scooters are made to ridden on the roads so offroading will tear them up fast only you only light trail ride . I have taken my Spree in the huge set of trails near me but never jumped or went wild like I did with my Honda CRs I had . I have taken my Echarm down gravel roads and some dirt ones but it sucks in gravel . My Magnum has shorter and wider tires , 130/60/13 with a street knobby type of tread and it handles very well offroad as it is very stable on the road . I only putted offroad with my two current scoots as I plan on riding them for as long as I can . A buddy had a Honda CT90 that looked like moped but was 90cc 4T with 3 speed manual and auto clutch . He had off road knobbies on it and had enough power to keep up in traffic ( not interstates ) . I always wanted one myself since it was good and Ebay has had some . An easier option is to ether get a " Monkey Bike " or a 200 or 250cc dual purpose ( street and trail motorcyle ) as I almost did before I bought my Echarm since the roads here are so horrid and I have always loved playing in the mud . Here is a link with both types and street bikes as well evosales.com/cat_motorbikes.cfm I have only heard good about EVO Sales but I would research the brand of what they had to compare before buying and only get a DP with rear disc brakes as they are superb to cabled drum brakes . My dealer told me that scooters that have the headlight(s) in the body seem to last longer than those in the handlebar section should you only want a scooter .

Peaceful look for the YouTube button and click it . Copy the URL or web address at YT then right click in between the brackets that the YT button creates then right click and select paste with left click so it well embed instead of having to open a tab to view it . I have saw some that burner but that is too dangerous to use on the streets

I would check out your ares section on www.craigslist.org to find a used or project scooter just make sure to know if you need a shortcase or longcase . Those with 12 or larger are longcase . Also has the same type of rear brake so you can reuse your wheels if you wanted to . Most have a cabled drum rear brake . If the only the body is fried I would get new panels unless you have frame damage . Here is a great source of body parts by body type rather than brand or model www.scrappydogscooters.com/CHASSIS_PARTS.html Here is oem TaoTao parts www.eagleatvparts.com/

Those scooters that come with a generic belt should replace it ASAP . Gates is a great brand as well as Bando . Gates is made in China where Bando is Japan and is what Hondas come with . My Magnum came with an odd numbers Gates that was hard to find but I did find a size diff in Bando and my dealer ordered me one . It had 4,200 and looked almost new with no bad signs and I am sure I could 2,000 more miles or better . The Gates was smooth at all times . Well the Bando is I have is the Kevlar type which is stiffer than nonKevlar models . It does have a weird vibration even with sliders and a Hoca BB torque spring base which really makes " shifting " better as it sounds like a car auto tranny . My Echarm factory belt had 12,000 miles on it and had some signs of waer but still good . I like to change out parts before they self destruct . My dealer told me the CFMoto belt was made by Bando and was the same thing and 20 less . Well it too is Kevlar and has the same annoying vibration , where stock was smooth as silk . After reading where Kevlar belts that broke from excessive wear have damaged the variator . I have seen belts explode into chucks and strands of cords . I have read from some dealers that only sell nonKevlar belts from problems that have happened if one did not replace BEFORE it breaks . Gates and Bando is the only brand of belts I would suggest to get unless you can afford the Italian goodies . I would only buy from a trusted dealer like Scrappy or PFS and NEVER from Ebay as there a lot of fakes that are renamed generic junk . www.bando.de/en/scooter-belts/ scootpower.com/2012/03/07/bando-kevlar-scooter-belts/

Would need an oil tank , the pump , a carb with oil line inlet and a diff throttle cable . I had Tomos mopeds a Bullet , Silver Bullet and Golden Bullet which had oil injection as the other two were premix of 50to1 . Never had a single issue on premix but the pump fizzled on the GB so I unhooked the lines and premixed . I did not find an oil pump but Im sure somebody has one that will work but I did find engine kits and exhausts for Tomos here www.mhr-usa.com/index.php?target=mopeds&mode=mopeds_search&subcats=Y&cid=0&moped_brand_id=134&moped_model_id=

Too big of a carb without large valve head that is ported and a sporty exhaust would not perform good . A buddy bought a Gran Torino with a 351 Cleveland and it has a 2bl carb . He bought and Edelbrock intake and a Holley 750 double pumper . Yes it had more pep but sucked gas and had a huge vacuum noise since he did not have a hot rod cam etc . I got hime to get a 600cfm Edelbrock carb and wow it was amazing how much better it ran . The suggested head is on the top of this page www.scrappydogscooters.com/139QMB_50cc_Performance.html

How did it get water in the oil tank ? What spark plug do you use ? My dealer told me about a client with a 2T that would idle fine but soft seize in a mile since he had too hot a plug . I switched from 7 to a BRP8HIX

Amazing !! What oil do you use and how often do you change it ? Is engine stock or any mods ? How many belts and weights has it used up ? I thought I had a lot of miles with 17k . I can eat off of my engine no oil leaks at all . Congratulations on having a good scooter and being smart enough to take such good care of it .

Here is 40mm ( 50cc ) and a 47mm ( 70 ) cc piston . Yeah 7mm does not sound like much but WOW I have so much more power along with a racing pipe . I too put in a lil oil in the gas tank at first as I worried the oil pump would not deliver enough oil . It is surprising that the gas not only powers the engine but helps cool it where extra oil it can get hotter . I had a bad seize on the 50 while testing a Uni and a soft seize with the first BBK while riding at 10,500 RPMs on a hot day . It cooled down and I rode it home . I had a wristpin come out and eat up the piston and aluminum head . I was noid to prevent it from happening again so I added oil at first to be safe or so I thought . I have never had a premix seize on any of my 2T mopeds or motorcross bikes . Premix can be a safe option but a hassle compared to the ease of an oil pump . You can get a Mikuni oil pump which is way better than the stock one but will need to replace the throttle cable with part # 159-26 from PFS or Scrappy as its needs a lead like the carb has with the Mikuni . Use a synthetic blend like Maxxima at first then you can go full synthetic after you use up a quart . I still use Maxxima as its 10 bucks as easy to get . i have used Motul 710 full synthetic with ester but its 17 a quart and only one place sells it . Never use weedeater grade oil its junk , smokes and fouls the sparkplug . .My pedal mopeds that used cheap 2T oil would leave a com trail Maxxima and Motul only have a lil smoke at start up when it is cold . Do nor use Lucas as it does not stay mixed . I drained the bowl and had the oil come out then the gas . It has a blue dye in it . Make sure to lube the piston and cylinder with plenty of 2T oil or engine assembly lube . One side it was hard to insert the wrist pin so I installed it in my hand so I only had to put in the other side once on the connecting rod . Make sure the arrow on top of the piston is pointing towards the exhaust pipe . I gave the wristpins a tug to make sure they were in they good as me and another had one come out and ruin the day . Only use premium gas , nonethanol preffered and use a NGK BRP8HIX which is the iridium type . Some run a 7 but the 8 is cooler heat range . Here is a 2T jet kit that may work with your carb www.partsforscooters.com/114-50-Minarelli-Main-Jet-Kit?sc=34&category=133078Some use 10mm wristpins some 12mm so measure with a caliper before you order a kit . If you have the cabbage then you may want a complete power kit like this www.partsforscooters.com/169-210_Power_Pack?sc=34&category=133355Attachments:
