To be honest I am sorry to chime in this and say it.... You CAN NOT compare a honda, Yamaha to a Harley. The production of this product is a hundred percent more time consuming and the design that has been turning heads since day one. I have watched the bikes come off the line, from Harley to Yamaha to the new Victory's (a blessing to be honest). There is no comparison. Performance wise, any bike that you take care of and do the maintenance on them they will all last and not leak. Every manufacture will have defective parts. I have friends that have had Goldwing's and had a ton of problems since day 1. I can say I have yet to have a friend or family member whom rides Harleys who has ever said this bike is a . Yes you buy a harley for a hot 15k, and you want chrome or other parts, guess what....open the wallet? Is that bad? Not at all, means not everyone can have it and make it stand out, for those whom do.... Just my .02 but seriously you cant compare that 10k yamaha to a Harley

Beer!

![Beer Run](http://andruschak.net/Scooters/BeerRun.jpg) The cheap swill I drink is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, bottled. It is an acceptable beer, not too expensive. I now have a front rack as well so I can carry the case front and carry other bottles in the tail box. For English food, I get Fuller's beers -- ESB for me, and Porter for my wife. With a choice Porterhouse steak, Het Anker Lucifer.
Everyone have a different beer they prefer. I love the British Bitter Beers. My wife likes Porters and Stouts. Some people actually like Lagers, and even Lite "beers." I love how the bikes match! The case sets its off very well! I have a ton, and a big thing with me is IPA's right now. As for Guinness, I can only drink it in Ireland, it's a lot different. Another new found love is hoegaarden white....look it up and buy atleast one!

Still get a measured beaker to drain it into so there is no guessing and you will know exactly how much went in and exactly how much came out at the next change. I am about to do the 25,000 mile services on my bike so its brakes (kevlar pads), brake fluid, coolant (going to give EngineIce a try), drive belt, sliders, variator guides, grease clutch bearings, engine oil with filter, gear lube and air filter. It has just been too hot and humid the past few weeks to get involved with a project like this. Wow that is a huge project! I could use a good recomendation on brakes (front and back).

Beer!

Well, I figured why not share something from the south west! So as you all watch my posts they will usually have some sort of beer element, I feel this is a trade mark. Notice I will not be doing just the plain Jane beer, something has to make it kick or it has to be something different. NOTE: I do not drink and ride, even when we hit the bar spots on rides with heavy's. So, what is your beer of choice? (Beer not hard alcohol, being I don't drink it) I would love to hear about local brews. San Diego we have a ton and more popping up and will post pictures of visits coming soon! Being I get to travel for work, when I am in the area of others I want to know what is recommended without killing my liver to find out. Cheers! ![:|](http://www.itistheride.com/smiley/smile/30.gif) ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0866.jpg)

Well since my other post was a big success..... ![D_](http://www.itistheride.com/smiley/smile/18.gif) So today, ![90](//storage.proboards.com/3624943/images/_UFFnbbwIf5C7FNAuL6Z.gif) degrees, I decided to change the engine coolant. Hope this helps future people! Easy Peasy... Step 1. Ofcourse grab a cold one with proper fill cup: ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0835.jpg) ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0837.jpg) Then to help around the house, start a load of wash... ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0836.jpg) Tools Needed: Funnel, 50/50 antifreeze (or whatever you swear by, I personally don't care), 8mm Socket, Papertowels, catch for fluids, Phillip and his screw driver, DISTILLED WATER ONLY, syringe ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0838.jpg) First locate and open top of radiator cap, this is under the right glove box removable compartment: ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0839.jpg) Next Locate drain hole, that is the right one with the silver color around the screw: ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0840.jpg) Then Locate overflow: This is on the right foot panel, just remove one screw and there she is i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0841.jpghttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0841.jpghttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0841.jpg![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0841.jpg) Then place catch under hole and let it loose! ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0843.jpg) Then at the overflow use the syringe and remove access: ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0845.jpg) While all things are open and free flow, use funnel to use DISTILLED water and flush the system. The reason for the distilled is there is no minerals that can mess up the radiator. There is more science to this but, just go with it. After you see the green color is gone (takes about 6 cups of water) then you can place drain plug back. Note: While opened up shake the bike and you will get a little more out then you thought.... After you have filled her back up, start her up and let her run for a good minute, check fluid levels. Then wipe up the bike replace the parts, grab another drink, check the washer and move on. A side note: Please make sure you properly dispose of the fluids removed, animals are very attracked to antifreeze cause its a sweet sort of liquid. This can and does harm them, your local auto parts location can take it. If you followed rule one and started drinking best to have a young one or wife take you and or leave for the next day in a high spot. Hope this helps one person one day!

Spun then every oil change you take a chance on lowering the level of lube every time that little bit that is lost by whatever means and what sticks to the side of the cup when you pour it in. I have a measuring cup/beaker marked in ounces on one side and cc on the other and go by whats listed in the book to measure what I take out so I will know exactly how much was lost and be able to put exactly the correct amount back in.I allay Just don't use one of the wife's from the kitchen as wives generally won't see any humor in it. I'll wait until after I have returned from the test ride to have an adult beverage. Usually from that small brewery in Boston that regularly beats Bud at taste tests and competitions. I always go over the line a little to feature for that. I'm sorry I didn't add that in! Also will do engine coolant today ![:)](http://www.itistheride.com/smiley/smile/01.gif)

Works well and the dealership I shop at has it priced fair with other lubes. I know people don't like it but with San Diego weather it's a gem. Anytime me your my way I'll always have a cold BL!

So I saw this on another forum and thought I would do my own. With all the help the sites have given me why not try and return it some.... So today I decided time to change the oil in the tranny, it was very simple. To start you need a few things: Paper towel, magic marker (any color), starbucks Venti size cup, 12mm socket, and Oil (same as in motor), long funnel ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0820.jpg) Then to your kitchen for a cold one, I am partial to Budlite with this new Mexican style chili salted based cup ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0827.jpg) Next located the fill and drain areas: Fill ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0821.jpg) Drain: ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0822.jpg) Then place cup under drain hole, use 12mm socket and remove the plug. (Note: I like to remove the fill hole to allow the air to get most all the oil out. Also clean off fill plug and make sure copper ring is in good shape.) ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0823.jpg) Then take a red marker and mark the cup oil level. (reason to follow) ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0824.jpg) Drain old oil into water bottle then, wipe out cup and replace with new oil to your fill line. (Now you know how much oil to put in ![8-|](http://www.itistheride.com/smiley/smile/24.gif) ) ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0825.jpg) Next after making sure fill plug is in snug, start to replace oil. ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/djspun/IMG_0826.jpg) And then replace the fill plug and your good to go! I note the miles and the date on a excel log I made, if anyone wants to have me email them the format please feel free to message me and I will get it to you asap. Have a great forth weekend fellow scooterheads!
