You may feel more of the impact on your body tomorrow. I went down a couple months ago in the rain. Hit the ground so fast I was totally dazed. After rolling a few times and sliding about 40 feet into the middle of an intersection. I got up, realized I was still in one piece, and started to gather my bike's pieces.
Minimal damage to the bike. I rode her into work, and tried to work a full shift. By lunch time I knew I was in trouble. Couldn't pick up the phone with my left hand.
Ended up I broke my collarbone and my thumb (on opposite sides) so simple things like buttoning up my slacks, was a real challenge.
I was bruised up badly on both hips, had on my full face helmet, gloves, and jacket with protectors on the arms and shoulders, but I was just wearing work slacks. Although I slid a long way, my pants were not torn up, except for one very very small tear on the seam. I did have a pretty nasty road rash on my leg, which to this day I cannot figure out how that happened without destroying my pants.
Moral of the story, wear your helmet, and protection.
Glad to hear you were not hurt. The bikes can be replaced easier than we can!

Of course the engine will run easier and with less drag, as it's not drawing in nearly as much air, However, if the purpose of the fan is to cool the bike, that should be the priority, not whether or not it turns easier. Take it off totally and there's even less drag!

I purchased the advancing one from John a few weeks ago. I had a performance (orange) cdi, but starting was a pain in the mornings. I switched to the advancing one. Starting is amazing. As soon as I hit the starter, it's running. I put the stock CDI on and ran a day with it, so that I could determine a difference or not with this new one. There was a considerable difference in the way the bike runs in town. I'm not trying to gain top end. I am more concerned with the engine running easier and more efficient. I am very happy with my purchase, and am going to order a second one for my daughter's scoot.

Before I purchased my scooter, I told the people at work that was my plan. They all got a kick out of it, then I got it. they had their remarks, stupid comments, and now 1 year later. They have seen it here every day, it has never left me stranded, I have spent approx 500.00 in gas to go 8,000 miles. When somebody new comes in and makes a comment, now the other guys step in and defend me. They also now are asking where they can purchase one.
Just typical behavior from people, but when you can show them how little it costs to operate they eventually grow up a bit

On a scooter I purchased from my brother in law, I changed the shortly after taking ownership. There was so much metal in the filter. I was sure the engine was toast. Changed the oil, drove a couple hundred miles, changed it again, it was clean.Although, I was extremely concerned, esp since the engine was so loud compared to mine.
Eventually, after a couple thousand miles, it stopped running. One of the bearings on the cam had broken and evidently the bearings ended up breaking into little pieces, which was what I had found in the filter.
The cam slipped timing and that's why it quit running. replaced the cam, checked the top end and found no evidence of damage, and we actually have never found any of the ball bearings. We've put about 1500 miles on it since then, and the oil is coming out clean now, and it runs like new. Going on 7500 miles. These things are a little finicky, require some extra care now and then, but sometimes they are surprisingly robust

When I replaced mine, it was already greased.

Purchased my SSR Gensen from SuperiorMotorSports last summer. Transaction was easy. A couple calls, I ordered the unit I wanted, it was waiting for me a week later.
I picked up from their warehouse, since it's about 1/2 hour from me. I've gone back a couple times to pick up a couple other items, such as a helmet for my daughter and son. They are always very helpful.

Turned 8000 miles this morning on the way to work. Bought it at 1/10 mile. This is my daily driver and it runs better now then when it was new. Changed Variators a few times. (Had a bad clutch that tore up 2 of the variators). Use full synthetic mobile 1 oil. only run 91 octane 76 brand gasoline. average 75MPG and can roll up to 55+ on flat ground. (gps verified) I rarely ride WOT, and average about 30mph with all the stop signs. My daily commute is 13 miles each way

If memory serves me correctly, the fins on the original are aimed the opposite direction, pulling air in from outside and pushing it into the engine shroud. The fins on the photo you have above would be moving a lot less air in the direction needed to cool, however, it would have less drag, which could be why they say it's for performance.

That doesn't sound like a good process to me.
