I'm a truck driver. The simple fact is: being a cop is not an especially dangerous job! (It's not in the top ten, I'm #8.) Tell that to the families and friends of those that gave their all in the line of duty www.odmp.org/Appeals to emotion do not change facts.

What a steaming turd. News flash: I am more likely to be killed on the job than a cop is! Simple question: if you knew one of your fellow cops was bent, would you turn him in? I most certainly would and what job do you have that is more dangerous then those of us in law enforcement, we face injury and possible death on a daily basis and never know from where it may come. Do not judge the police until you have walked a mile in his shoes. I hope people understand that they are only hearing one side of the story. there is an old saying "do not believe anything you hear and only 1/2 of what you see." I wonder how many of you have the guts to try to be a police officer and hear this garbage every day of your life. The goal of every police officer is to go home tonight. Maybe you should look into the mirror to see why you are getting treated the way you are. If you come across as a smart grab hold you will be treated as a smart . I spent 31 years out there as A Texas State Trooper and AM DAMN PROUD OF IT. Now if I do not belong on this forum let me know and I will get off. What a steaming turd. ...then get pulled over every other day, or have some meth planted on you. No, bad idea. Don't know if this is in reply to my post or not. But my cop has never tried to "strike back" at me for filing what turned out to be a false report against him. And if the above does occur, there's such a thing as "harassment" and he can get busted for that too. Know somebody from years ago who had ticked off a cop. Cop had been pulling him over all the time, 'cause he HAD been a jerk when he was younger--admitted he probably deserved some of it, but not all the extent of it. Well, he'd had a crummy day and the cop had been harassing him the previous day, and there was the cop up the street so he gave cop The Finger. Cop busted him for driving without his glasses (which he was). Guy got that busted " 'cause how'd cop know my DL requires me wearing glasses before he stopped me" Also brought out the little harassing going on. Cop was told to stop it or else. Know another guy who got a ticket for 2 miles over (yes, Riley County cops are real jerks). What ticked him was for once he'd actually been going under the limit. Took his car and found his speedo was about 5 miles low. Mech wrote a letter etc. Guy went to court to fight the ticket. Told us he never got to--judge looked at the ticket, glared at the cop, said something like "A lousy TWO MILES over? What the (heck) were you doing?! Dismissed!" Point of all this is, surely the entire legal system of your city/county/wherever isn't corrupt/power-mad/whatever. If you report legitimate mistreatment and then suffer worse, take it higher. Might take a lawyer (planted meth) but that would be easy enough to bust too, considering the pre-existing situation. Next. >'Kat Your faith in humanity is touching...and misplaced. I WATCHED someone have his life destroyed after reporting a bent cop. It's actually quite simple: most cops are arrogant, swaggering wanna-be stormtroopers on a power trip, aspiring mostly to be the nastiest thug on the block. The most dangerous street gang in the country is the police. Note: anhydrous ammonia is used in fertilizers.

I do not agree that a properly patched tire needs to be replaced. It you patched a tire in the tread you should be able to continue using it for the life of the tread. Agreed. But do not PLUG a tire except as a temporary emergency repair!

Funniest thing I ever saw...a guy on a sportbike (I recall a CBR600) got dusted twice...by a car. It was a bright-red Firebird Formula, about a 1989 (last year without an airbag, whichever that was). They ran twice, and the bike lost both times. The car looked & sounded like nothing special...in fact, I took it for a stock Formula with chrome exhaust tips & nice wheels. It had deep-tinted glass, but that was only remarkable until I saw the Florida plates. A look inside showed nothing exceptional: stock auto-trans shifter, an aftermarket head unit in an otherwise-stock interior, stock dash with no added gauges. The engine was totally docile, exhaust was quiet, it had functioning A/C. I didn't think anything of it until I saw it with a window down...and noted that it had, tucked tightly against the roof pillars & painted to match the interior, a roll bar. The car ran 9's. Under the hood was a twin-turbocharged, intercooled LS1. It was run by a laptop-programmable EFI system with three preprogrammed tunes: regular gas (actually, 89...it ran terribly on 87), premium gas ( +), and...E85. On E85 and with the boost turned up (22psi!), it ran 9.50 1/4 mile times at about 140MPH & put over 800HP down to the rollers on a Dynojet. (That's 1000+HP at the crank!) It was also the driver's ONLY VEHICLE! He drove it every day...and last time I saw him (last June), he was on his seventh Hot Rod Power Tour Long Haul. (2005, 2006, 2007, 2009-12) He bought the car new; it was built as a 305 TPI/auto car. He wanted a 350, but the dealer only found one, and it didn't have A/C. (Gee, wonder why it wouldn't sell in Miami!) That was one of the coolest cars on the Power Tour.

Here's one I just thought of after dealing with it recently: a set of jumpers that will fit your scoot's battery! My jumpers would NOT fit the terminals on the battery in my mother's motorcycle.

Actually, I have found a Q-link Commuter 250 (the Helix-clone)...and I like it. Q-link seems to be several tiers above the typical "China scoot" in terms of quality, it's a pretty well-optioned scoot (even has a stereo), it's a long wheelbase (not much shorter than the big Harley next to it!), so should be stable. And I have to admit, I kind of like the funky styling.

Call and make a complaint to his superiors. If he wants you to stay in the car after stopping you he needs to tell you to please stay put. People saying you should know not to get out or that you should ask permission to get out of your own car on a PUBLIC road? A policeman is a "law enforcement" officer not a "invent laws, go psycho and threaten citizens" dictator. I would go down and ask to speak to their public relations officer and demand a mediation hearing with this officer. Your local news TV and paper could use a good cop abuse story. Actually how to behave during a traffic stop has been in every DMV drivers handbook I have seen which you have to study before you can get a drivers license so everyone who drives should already be aware of this. If you didn't study the material for new drivers like you were supposed to it really is not the officers fault. Been a while, but there was not one single word about that when I went to Drivers Ed!

Getting ready to ride, I have a complication: I wear glasses, which some helmets won't accommodate. (My mother had the same issue.) I also absolutely DO NOT want a black helmet. Guess I need to do some test-fitting today.

How old is the fuel? Did you use fresh gas?
